Chapter 139: Let’s Go to Beijing for Training

Among the four girls in the dorm, Xu Yaning was the clear leader.

Whenever there was a decision to be made and no one could settle on it, she was the one to make the final call.

Noticing the gazes of the other three, Xu Yaning thought for a moment before speaking.

“Let’s give it a try. It’s not like we have a better option anyway.”

“If this one doesn’t work out either, then I’ll go ahead and start a small clothing studio.”

Hearing Xu Yaning’s decision, Zhou Yu and the other two fell silent.

Starting a clothing studio was a highly risky move. As long as there was even one company where they could express their creativity, even if the pay was a bit low at first, none of them would have chosen to go that route.

Zhou Yu sighed, turned to her computer, and sent out her résumé.

“Whew, this new computer runs so smooth. The résumé was sent instantly.”

“Right? I really want a new one too. That junior of yours is the best.”

    “…”

Seeing Zhou Yu submit her résumé, the other two roommates started teasing her.

“There are juniors all over the place—why aren’t you two chasing after one?”

Zhou Yu rolled her eyes at them.

“But those juniors don’t call us ‘Good Big Sister.’”

    “You wanna die?”

Zhou Yu’s face turned red in an instant. She remembered the phone call she made in the bathroom the night before—seems they’d overheard it.

Seeing the teasing looks on their faces, she couldn’t help but pounce.

“Good Big Sister, I was wrong! Good Big Sister…”

Pinned underneath her, the roommate laughed and shouted.

Xu Yaning quietly watched the scene from the side, smiling gently. The heavy atmosphere from earlier quietly dissolved.

    That evening—

Chen Mo had just finished eating the meal Yang Duoduo had brought him when he received a call from Song Xia.

“Chen Mo, I checked out some barista training schools. Prices vary a lot. How should I choose?”

    “The most expensive one.”

“But the most expensive one is in Beijing, not local. It’s a whole month and super pricey. There’s a local one for 6,000 with pretty good reviews…”

“Go with the most expensive one. Do the training in Beijing. I’ll reimburse you for travel and lodging. How about this—you send me the info for that training school, and I’ll have someone enroll you and plan the trip tomorrow.”

Chen Mo had originally planned to let Song Xia handle it herself. But on second thought, travel and accommodations could be a great excuse to spend some money. If he handled it properly, it’d count as another business expense.

    “Okay.”

“Oh, my sister just messaged me asking if I’ve started working at your factory. What should I say?”

    Song Xia asked.

She hadn’t replied yet because she wanted to check with Chen Mo first.

“Just say you’ve already started at the factory. Don’t mention anything about the coffee shop, no matter what.”

Chen Mo quickly reminded her. He definitely didn’t want his family finding out about the coffee shop. Song Xia had already lost money on her milk tea venture; if they found out he was starting a coffee shop now, they’d be worried sick.

“I know. But if I say I started working at your factory, my sister’s definitely going to dig into the details.”

“Then here’s the plan—come to my clothing factory tomorrow and do a quick video call with your sister. I’ll be there to help back up your story. That should do the trick.”

    “Alright, thanks!”

    Once everything was settled,

Chen Mo hung up and flopped back onto his bed.

    The next morning—

Chen Mo arrived at the office, turned on his computer, and looked up the barista training school Song Xia had sent him. After checking the prices, he registered her for the one-month program right away.

By the time the training was done, the coffee shop renovation would be mostly complete, just in time for her to come back and take over.

Next, he opened a booking app to check flights from Jiangcheng to Beijing. He directly chose a first-class ticket for three days later.

There were still a few small tasks that Song Xia needed to handle for the coffee shop over the next three days, so they couldn’t leave immediately.

Travel was settled. Next up—meals and lodging.

Meals were easy—he’d just give her a daily food allowance of 500 yuan.

Lodging, though—that had to be handled with care.

Chen Mo seriously browsed through five-star hotels in Beijing and finally chose a luxury suite near the barista training school for a full month.

The daily rate was over 2,000 yuan.

    Nice. By his estimate,

This trip would cost him close to 100,000 yuan.

And if Song Xia recruited ten employees and reimbursed their training costs too, that would be another 100,000-plus.

Chen Mo did a quick mental calculation and nodded with satisfaction.

“Sister Tang, is this the staff cafeteria at Chen Mo’s clothing factory?”

Through the window, Song Xia stared at the cafeteria’s layout, her mouth slightly agape.

    It looked way too nice.

Standing beside her, Tang Qiu smiled—she remembered having the same reaction the first time she saw it.

“Let’s go. President Chen’s workshop is just ahead.”

    “Okay!”

Song Xia gave the cafeteria one last look before following Tang Qiu.

After her call with Chen Mo last night, she had chatted with Tang Qiu about some minor matters concerning the coffee shop.

She also mentioned she’d be heading to the clothing factory today.

    Coincidentally,

Tang Qiu also needed to visit the factory, so they agreed to go together.

“We’re here. Office area’s on the left, workshop’s on the right.”

“But President Chen also rented another big workshop over there. Renovation’s underway.”

Tang Qiu pointed in the direction of the new workshop, then led Song Xia inside.

They stopped outside an office door.

    She gave a gentle knock.

    “Come in!”

Hearing the voice from inside, Tang Qiu opened the door and walked in with Song Xia following behind.

Chen Mo, seated in his office chair, looked surprised to see the two women enter.

He hadn’t expected Tang Qiu to come too—was she here to ask for more work again?

He stood up with a somewhat forced smile.

“Lawyer Tang, what brings you to the company today?”

“I’m doing onboarding training, remember? I’m here to learn more about the company so I can give a proper orientation to the new hires.”

    Tang Qiu explained.

Hearing that, Chen Mo breathed a sigh of relief. As long as she wasn’t here asking for more tasks.

“Let me introduce—this is Shen Rou, my assistant. And this is Song Xia, the manager of the coffee shop.”

“You two should get to know each other—you’ll be coordinating a lot in the future.”

    Chen Mo introduced them both.

    “Hello.”

Realizing this was the manager of the new coffee shop President Chen had opened, Shen Rou quickly reached out to greet her.

    “Hi!”

Song Xia shook her hand in return.

But her gaze subtly wandered between Shen Rou and Chen Mo, her expression a little… odd.
