Make Money C137
by MarineTLChapter 137: While You’re at It, Recruit Some People for Me
Tang Qiu listened to Song Xia’s words from the side and felt a strong sense of agreement.
She felt like she was basically getting paid for doing nothing—there was simply nothing for her to do in the company.
Yet the money never stopped coming. Even though her annual salary had already been issued, this month another sum had been transferred to her card.
After asking around, she found out that part of it was a raise, and part of it was a benefits allowance.
But she hadn’t done anything at all!
And yet, she still got a raise.
Chen Mo had no idea what Tang Qiu was thinking. After hearing Song Xia’s question, he pondered for a moment before replying.
“How could I possibly let you get paid for nothing? As the manager of the café, you’ve got to understand all the ways coffee is made. Here’s the plan—tomorrow I’ll enroll you in a barista training course. The company will cover the cost. Take advantage of the renovation period and go level up your skills.”
“As for all the equipment and tools needed for opening the café, keep an eye out. Once it’s time to open, give me a detailed list.”
“Once your training is complete, we’ll give you a salary increase.”
“What?!”
Song Xia’s mouth fell open in shock.
Paid training, plus the company footing the bill, and a guaranteed salary bump after it?
If the person in front of her weren’t her brother-in-law’s younger brother, she’d have thought he was a scammer.
“It’s settled, then. Also, during your training, pay attention to the other trainees. We can recruit some of them to work at the café. The starting salary will be 6,000 yuan, plus 0.1% of the profit as commission. On top of that, they’ll be considered management reserves—when we open new branches, store managers will be selected from among them.”
With a wave of his hand, Chen Mo finalized the matter.
He felt rather pleased—this plan was clever. Spending a month’s wages plus training costs, and getting something real out of it.
Although… just training one person seems a bit too little.
“Oh, and when you’re trying to recruit those trainees, let them know that if they agree to work at the café, the company will reimburse their training fees.”
“For now, plan to recruit ten staff members.”
That way, he could burn through training fees for eleven people in one go.
Not bad.
“Isn’t ten staff members a bit much?” Song Xia thought for a moment. Even with the two storefronts combined, it was just over 200 square meters. Ten employees seemed way too many.
Four to five would be more than enough.
But Chen Mo just smiled and shook his head.
“Not too many at all. For a storefront like this, you’ll probably open at 8 AM and close at 8 PM, right?”
“That’s a 12-hour workday. You can’t expect a single employee to work all twelve hours—that’s too exhausting. It goes against humanitarian principles and my philosophy of running a company.”
“So to shorten employee work hours, the best way is to have two shifts.”
“8 AM to 2 PM for one shift, and 2 PM to 8 PM for the second. Each shift is six hours.”
“So even though you have ten employees, only five are working at a time.”
“To ensure the café runs smoothly, the hiring task is yours. And to keep you motivated, I’ll give you a 1,000 yuan recruitment bonus for every person you bring in.”
That’s another 10,000 yuan spent on bonuses right there.
Compared to over ten million in system funds, it was just a drop in the bucket. But hey, every drop counts.
Song Xia stared in a daze. This café was sounding way too good to be true.
But as the manager, she couldn’t help but worry—could a café run like this actually make money?
And Chen Mo—was he running a money-printing factory? The way he spent money, it was like it was just blowing in on the wind.
Swallowing hard, she looked at Chen Mo and asked hesitantly:
“Are you sure this is really okay?”
“What’s there to worry about? Just go all out—I’ve got your back.”
Chen Mo said breezily.
Seeing how unconcerned he was, Song Xia finally relaxed. She couldn’t help but remember that bonus promise—1,000 yuan per person! Ten people would be 10,000!
She suddenly felt like rushing over to the barista training school and recruiting people right now.
Tang Qiu, watching from the side, looked on enviously.
Just moments ago, she and Song Xia had been in the same boat—paid to do nothing.
But in the blink of an eye, Song Xia had a mountain of tasks, while she was still sitting idle.
How depressing.
She glanced at Chen Mo.
“President Chen, is there anything I can do?”
Again?!
Chen Mo rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on.
“How’s the legal awareness campaign going?”
“Already completed.”
“Then run it again?”
“We just did it before the holiday. Doing it again right after would be too frequent.”
“Uhh…”
Chen Mo thought for a moment, then suddenly remembered—they were about to bring in a bunch of new employees.
“We’re expanding the factory. In a few days, we’ll be onboarding around seventy new employees. How about you run a new-hire orientation for them to get familiar with the company?”
Orientation?
That’s usually HR’s job, right?
But Tang Qiu wasn’t going to nitpick. It was hard enough finding something to do—who cared whose job it technically was?
Plus, she’d noticed that Chen Mo’s way of handling employees was very different from other bosses.
This was part of the company’s unique culture—its business philosophy. But Chen Mo had never put it into writing.
She could go home and work on some copywriting, organize and document the company culture.
That would make the orientation much more effective—helping new employees integrate more quickly.
Thinking this, Tang Qiu quickly replied, “Alright, President Chen. I’ll start preparing when I get home.”
Chen Mo finally sighed in relief when she accepted the task.
At least for now, Tang Qiu wouldn’t be chasing him for work again.
So strange.
What kind of company has employees chasing their boss for work?
“I’ll make some milk tea for you guys!”
Song Xia, seeing no one talking, jumped up and ran to the milk tea machine to make drinks.
Though the milk tea shop was closed, the machine and ingredients were still in the store.
Soon enough—
Three cups of milk tea were ready, one for each of them.
Chen Mo took a curious sip. Not bad.
But since he drank coffee regularly, the milk tea felt a bit too sweet.
“Tang-jie, look, these poor kittens and puppies!”
Song Xia placed her new phone in front of Tang Qiu, her face full of sympathy.
Tang Qiu looked at the video on Song Xia’s phone and suddenly realized—
“Oh, that’s the Love Corner Cat & Dog Rescue Center. It’s in a village just outside Jiang City. I know about it.”
“You know about that rescue center?” Song Xia asked in surprise.
“Of course,” Tang Qiu said with a smile. “That place has over a thousand cats and dogs now. I donated pet food to them before.”
She’d known about the rescue center for a while. Back then, it only had a few hundred animals—now it was up to a thousand.
Pet food donations?
Chen Mo, who’d been scrolling on his phone, suddenly perked up at the conversation.
