Chapter 99 – Technical Training Also Requires Business Trip Allowance

ā€œWhen those new machine tools arrive, there won’t be space to keep the old ones. So I contacted a company that buys used equipment.ā€

ā€œThey can send someone over at any time to do a price evaluation. I’ve made a rough estimate myself—it should fetch around a hundred thousand yuan or so.ā€

    Li Shen spoke slowly.

Chen Mo lightly tapped his fingers on the desk, doing his best to keep a straight face.

    After a moment of silence,

he replied in a calm and measured tone,

ā€œAlright, I’ve noted it. Go ahead and take care of it.ā€

He had thought of many reasons to reject selling off the machines, but in the end, the system shot them all down.

    There was no helping it.

System funds will soon be +100,000 yuan.

ā€œWhat’s the second thing?ā€ Chen Mo asked.

    Wei Yan immediately responded,

ā€œThe second issue is that a few of the new machine tools are fully automated. Not many of our workshop employees know how to use them, so we need to organize a proper training program.ā€

ā€œThe manufacturer providing the machines will offer this training free of charge, but our people have to go there in person to learn.ā€

ā€œThey’ve offered 8 to 10 training slots, and the program lasts 20 days. During that time, they’ll provide food and lodging.ā€

Upon hearing this, Chen Mo finally relaxed—at least it wasn’t another financial issue.

    Then, a lightbulb moment.

He’d just been wondering how to curb the business department from taking in too many orders.

    Wasn’t this the perfect opportunity?

If salespeople went to learn about the operations of their own workshop’s machine tools, it would actually help with their work. At the very least, they could brag to clients about how powerful their equipment was and how high-quality the clothes they made were.

If they didn’t know anything about the machines, even their bragging would lack credibility. And if they couldn’t bluff convincingly, how could clients be convinced to place orders?

So, this machine tool training should include people from the sales department. Makes sense.

Best case, all three salespeople should go.

Chen Mo thought to himself that this way, there’d be no one left to chase orders—and no new orders would be taken.

But the system quickly issued a reminder: at least one person must remain in the sales department to take orders.

    Alright, then send two people.

It seemed that Wu Yu and Cai Jing had taken the most orders in the past two months, so they’d be the ones to go.

With that thought, he said directly,

ā€œAdd Wu Yu and Cai Jing from the sales department to the training list. Then pick eight people from the workshop to go along.ā€

    ā€œGot it, Boss Chen.ā€

Li Shen nodded and didn’t ask why the sales staff were being included. If Boss Chen made the decision, he must have his reasons.

ā€œOh, right—Boss Chen, with eight people from the workshop going for training and only a few knowing how to use the new machines, production progress will probably slow down quite a bit.ā€

Hearing this, Chen Mo smiled slightly. That’s great.

    Exactly what he wanted.

ā€œNo problem. But the ten people going for training are essentially on a business trip, so they should receive some business trip allowances.ā€

ā€œBoss Chen, the other side is covering food and accommodation. It’s just training—there’s really nothing they need allowances for.ā€

Li Shen reminded him that all arrangements had already been made. Meals and lodging were covered, and they’d even arranged transport. There wasn’t really any place to spend money.

ā€œLi Shen, how can you say there’s no need for allowances? What if the food over there is bad and our employees can’t get used to it? Wouldn’t they need to go out and eat something better? If they don’t eat well, how can they focus on learning?ā€

ā€œLet’s not go overboard—say they go out for two meals a day, and each meal costs 100 yuan. That’s 200 yuan in food allowance per day. And going out to eat means taking a taxi—some places might be far. Let’s say 200 yuan a day for transportation.ā€

ā€œPlus, once they’re over there, there will definitely be other miscellaneous expenses we can’t foresee.ā€

ā€œSo, all in all, let’s calculate 500 yuan per person per day.ā€

Chen Mo did a quick mental calculation.

    500 yuan per person per day Ɨ 10 people Ɨ 20 days = exactly 100,000 yuan.

    Perfect.

The money gets spent, and he also temporarily removes two of the sales team. Now, only one salesperson remains, and the number of orders will probably drop significantly.

Truly killing two birds with one stone.

Time passed quickly, and it was soon time to clock out.

The employees all headed to the company canteen in groups.

ā€œBrother Jiang, I heard the staff dorms are already finished?ā€

ā€œYeah, they’re wrapping things up. Just need to air them out a bit, then we can move in.ā€

Jiang Cheng replied when a colleague asked.

ā€œWant to check it out after dinner?ā€

A worker suggested eagerly. Everyone was curious to see what the dorms looked like.

It was said that it’d be two people per room—way better than the current six-per-room setup.

    ā€œSure.ā€

Jiang Cheng nodded. He was also curious to see the new dorms.

    After dinner,

all the workshop employees headed toward the dormitory building.

Even the group who usually went to the break room after eating gave it a miss—they all made a beeline for the dorms.

    At the dorm entrance,

everyone eagerly stepped inside and began exploring.

ā€œNice hallway. The lighting is really bright!ā€

    ā€œWhoa, this is a staff dorm?!ā€

One worker opened a room and gasped.

Soon after, more exclamations of surprise came from other rooms.

Hearing all the amazement, Jiang Cheng also opened a door and stepped into a dorm.

Once he saw the interior setup, he stood frozen on the spot.

He’d expected the dorms to be decent, but he hadn’t imagined they’d be this good.

They even had TVs and air conditioning.

He opened the bathroom door—there was a toilet, a water heater, and a shower. Not big, but definitely enough for two people.

And in the bedroom, a big double bed with a thick mattress.

This was the same setup as a standard hotel room.

Plus, all the appliances in the room were from well-known brands—none of them cheap.

This place basically felt like a small home.

ā€œWife, didn’t I tell you? This room has a double bed—it’s probably meant for couples. We’re going to live here from now on.ā€

ā€œI told you Boss Chen treats the employees well. You’ve seen it for yourself now.ā€

Jiang Cheng turned to his wife, feeling a little proud.

She hadn’t wanted to come at first when he called her over.

Wang Juan looked around the room in a daze. Hearing what Jiang Cheng said, she still couldn’t quite believe it.

ā€œThis is really for us to live in?ā€

Looking at all the appliances and that clearly expensive double bed—was this really theirs?

ā€œOf course! Didn’t you see the big sign that says ā€˜Staff Dormitory’ above the entrance? Boss Chen had this built just for us.ā€

ā€œI’m telling you now—do your work in the cafeteria properly. If I catch you slacking or not cleaning up, just wait till we get home tonight. I’ll deal with you then.ā€

Wang Juan glanced at Jiang Cheng, who was starting to get a little cocky, and snorted coldly.

ā€œYou think you can handle me?ā€
