Chapter 337: Dozens of Body Bags Lined Up — K’s Signature Method of Destroying Evidence

A gas explosion? Followed by a fire?

The account given by the Blood Gang member left every officer present momentarily stunned, a mix of disbelief and unease settling over the room.

They hadn’t even started the investigation.

And now the suspect had already been sent to meet his maker?

Chief Walker was the most agitated of all. He strode down two steps, snatched the Black officer’s phone, and roared into it, his voice laced with fury.

    “What? Say that again!”

“How is it that such a major explosion happened and I didn’t hear a thing, yet you knew about it so quickly?”

“Are you… trying to help those killers escape? Looks like your Blood Gang has been living too comfortably in New York. You even dare to provoke the NYPD now?”

On the other end of the line, the Blood Gang member named Hawk immediately realized it was Chief Walker himself yelling and questioning him. He rushed to explain.

    “No, no, Chief Walker!”

“We Blood Gang guys are just sewer rats. We’d never dare go against you, let alone lie to you about something like this.”

“I don’t know why you didn’t get the news, but the intel I received said there was a massive explosion at the Manhattan Knight Bar.”

“Luckily, it wasn’t open for business yet, so there probably weren’t any customers inside. But as for the staff… I really don’t know what happened to them.”

“You can check. Go ahead and investigate.”

“I wouldn’t dare lie about something like this. It’s easy to verify.”

Just as he finished speaking, a female officer seated in the front row seemed to recall something. She quickly raised her hand and spoke up.

    “Chief Walker.”

“Two hours ago, we did receive a request for assistance from the New York Fire Department. They reported an explosion in the heart of Manhattan.”

“But when I was about to inform you, you told me…”

“That no matter what case it was, we were to put it on hold and focus solely on finding the killer of Old Morgan’s son. That was to be our only priority.”

“You said that until the murderer was caught, the NYPD wouldn’t have any personnel available to handle other cases. That was your exact wording.”

Walker turned to look at the female officer, frowning slightly as he tried to recall.

And then it hit him. The pressure from Old Morgan had been overwhelming, and in an effort to keep his position as Chief, he had indeed issued that order.

He had told the entire NYPD to drop all other cases and concentrate fully on tracking down the killer of Little Morgan.

Taking a deep breath, Walker didn’t press the issue any further. Instead, he returned to the phone, his voice cold and sharp.

    “Hawk.”

“Is there anything else you know about the Knight Bar, or the people in those photos? You’d better tell me everything right now.”

“Because if I find out later that you were holding back, you can forget about ever getting out of prison. And I mean ever. I’m out of patience.”

The icy threat sent a chill down Hawk’s spine. He quickly responded with certainty.

“No, absolutely nothing else, Chief Walker!”

“Even if I had ten lives, I wouldn’t dare lie to you.”

“I just thought about it again. I really don’t know much about the Knight Bar. People have always said it’s not just a bar, but a high-end brothel. Lots of athletes and celebrities go there for fun.”

“Rumor has it the place is extremely secure, with top-notch protection. Anyone who causes trouble there never ends up well. That’s why the rich love it.”

“But we Blood Gang brothers all come from the slums. At most, we can afford streetwalkers. We’ve got no money for that kind of high-class pimp joint. I really don’t know anything else.”

    A high-end brothel disguised as a bar?

That detail made Chief Walker raise an eyebrow slightly.

Though his criminal investigation experience was lacking and his skills weren’t particularly impressive, he could still piece together the likely motive behind Little Morgan’s murder—it probably had something to do with a woman.

But at this point, the reason didn’t matter anymore.

What mattered now was finding the killer and giving Old Morgan an answer. That was Walker’s top priority.

With that in mind, Walker had no interest in continuing the call.

As far as he was concerned, Hawk had no valuable information to offer. What mattered more now was confirming the cause of the explosion and fire at the Knight Bar.

He gave one final cold warning into the phone.

    “Hawk.”

    “Listen carefully and remember this.”

“Ask around within the Blood Gang. See if anyone else knows anything about the people in those photos. If anyone does, report it immediately to Officer Vito.”

“But don’t drag your feet. Hiding anything won’t do you any good.”

“If you still want to keep smoking your weed in peace, and don’t want to be the reason the Blood Gang gets wiped out in New York, then do exactly as I say.”

With that, Walker hung up without hesitation and tossed the phone back to Officer Vito. Then he swept his gaze across the room, issuing a firm command.

“Black, pick a few capable people. Start running these faces through the database right now and identify them.”

“The rest of you, come with me to Knight Bar. We need to get there immediately to find out exactly what happened and what consequences it may have caused.”

“If there are any casualties, we must identify the victims and determine the primary cause of the explosion.”

“This investigation won’t be as simple as we hoped. Everyone, stay sharp and give it your all.”

    “Now move out—immediately!”

    …

After gathering their gear and arming themselves with a full array of firearms, the officers boarded their Chevrolet police cars and drove out of the New York Police Department parking lot.

Their destination was clear: Knight Bar in Manhattan.

    Nearly thirty minutes later.

Several police vehicles finally arrived at the scene.

The explosion had caused a massive fire, and the entire area had been cordoned off with police tape, clearly marking the danger zone.

While the reputation of U.S. police officers might be mixed, the firefighters were, for the most part, dedicated and professional.

The blaze at Knight Bar had already been brought under control, but a number of firefighters were still on-site, handling the aftermath.

At the same time, the captain leading the police team was actively coordinating the operation.

Once the police cars were parked, Chief Walker immediately approached the fire captain, extended a hand for a quick shake, and asked directly.

“Captain Paul, what’s the situation? Where are the bar staff and security personnel now?”

Lowering the walkie-talkie in his hand, Captain Paul shook his head with a hint of regret. He turned slightly and pointed toward a corner that had been deliberately sectioned off.

“They’re all over there, Chief Walker.”

Following Captain Paul’s gesture, Walker’s eyes landed on a chilling sight—dozens of all-too-familiar black body bags lined up neatly in the corner…
