    Chapter 286: Exploring the Café

Du Xiaoxiao stared at the flood of comments in her livestream chat and finally made a decision.

“Guys, I’ve made up my mind. Tomorrow, I’m heading to Jiang City to check out this Nanhe Coffee for myself.”

She had already been considering a trip to Jiangcheng, and now with this news, she figured she might as well go early.

    Soon after,

Du Xiaoxiao, along with Liu Meng and Liu Xiang, entered a room and were immediately surrounded by a bunch of cats.

“There are two rooms in total. If you don’t find a good match here, you can check the other one.”

Du Xiaoxiao led the two sisters around the room.

    After a while,

The three of them had picked their cats and left together.

    The next morning,

    Bright and early,

Du Xiaoxiao got up and headed to the Beijing airport.

After leaving the cat and dog rescue station with the Liu sisters yesterday, they had chatted for quite a while. She’d learned a lot more about Nanhe Coffee from them.

So this time, she was determined to go and see it for herself. There weren’t many businesses out there doing something this compassionate. If it turned out to be true, she wanted to help however she could.

After all, she was a small influencer with over a million followers and had connections with other streamers. Promoting it wouldn’t be a problem.

    She boarded her flight,

And about two hours later, the plane landed safely in Jiangcheng.

Du Xiaoxiao stepped out of the airport with her luggage, found a hotel nearby, and dropped off her bags.

Then, grabbing her phone and power bank, she left the hotel. For this café visit, she planned to livestream the entire thing, so her charging gear was essential.

Outside the hotel, she hailed a taxi, destination: Nanhe Cat Café.

She wanted to see for herself whether this cat café was really what the sisters had described. What others said was just hearsay—she needed to confirm it with her own eyes.

    “Thanks, driver.”

The taxi pulled up to the curb. Du Xiaoxiao stepped out and spotted the cat café in the distance.

She adjusted her livestream setup, turned on the stream, and sent out a notification to her fan group.

After a short wait, the number of viewers in her stream began to climb rapidly.

Du Xiaoxiao waved to the camera.

“Hey guys, I’ve arrived in Jiangcheng. That over there is Nanhe Cat Café. Today, I’m going in to check it out and see if what those sisters said yesterday holds up.”

With that, she headed straight for Nanhe Coffee.

“Hello, welcome to Nanhe Cat Café.”

As soon as she stepped inside, a staff member greeted her politely.

Du Xiaoxiao nodded and walked further in. She had already looked up how things worked here. After ordering a 50-yuan coffee, she began to stroll around the café.

The place was already fairly busy, with customers sitting at tables, sipping coffee, playing with cats, and taking photos.

But she wasn’t here for the customers—her focus was on the cats. She scanned the room.

Just like the twin sisters had said, there weren’t any rare or expensive breeds here—just ordinary cats.

She even spotted a few orange tabbies and mackerel tabbies.

Judging by the breeds, it seemed likely these cats had been adopted from a rescue station.

From across the room, Lin Zhu had noticed Du Xiaoxiao the moment she walked in.

She’d seen people like this before—clearly a streamer.

There had been other streamers who’d come to check in at the café before.

But she didn’t mind. In fact, she welcomed it. Every time a streamer visited, it helped boost the café’s visibility.

After carefully preparing the coffee, she didn’t have a staff member deliver it. Instead, she brought it over herself.

“Here’s your coffee. There’s free cat food and some toys over at the counter. Feel free to grab some to interact with the cats, but please don’t overfeed them—they might eat too much.”

Lin Zhu placed the coffee on Du Xiaoxiao’s table and spoke gently.

    “Thank you.”

Du Xiaoxiao took the coffee and looked up at Lin Zhu with curiosity.

“Can I ask… where do you get the cats for your café? Why aren’t there any rare breeds?”

“We don’t buy our cats. They’re all adopted from rescue stations.”

Lin Zhu smiled. She had come over personally hoping to get a little promotion through the livestream.

But before she could even bring it up, the streamer had asked the perfect leading question.

This was even better than her pitching it herself.

    “Could you tell me more?”

“Of course. There’s nothing to hide.”

Lin Zhu began explaining the story of the cat café, focusing especially on President Chen—how kindhearted he was, and how he helped stray animals.

Du Xiaoxiao listened intently, sipping her coffee now and then.

Whatever else you could say, the coffee was genuinely good. She’d had plenty in Beijing, but this one definitely held its own.

And this was just the 50-yuan option.

There were higher-priced ones on the menu—those must be even better.

    After a while,

Du Xiaoxiao compared Lin Zhu’s story with what the twin sisters had told her the day before. There were no discrepancies.

All signs pointed to this being legit.

She also learned about a new place: the Corner Cat and Dog Rescue Station and the Pet Park.

Especially the Pet Park—creating a dedicated space for stray cats and dogs to live? That was a bold and ambitious move.

She sat in the café a bit longer, finished her coffee, and then left.

Outside, she turned to her livestream audience.

“Guys, based on my initial observations, this coffee shop really is doing charity work.”

“But to fully confirm it, we need to visit the cat and dog rescue station. One more thing—the coffee here is actually pretty good. It’s 50 yuan, but worth the price.”

“If you’re a coffee lover, it’s definitely worth a try.”

The livestream chat lit up with comments.

“I went to Nanhe Coffee last night. The taste really is great.”

“Same here. The service was excellent too. The price is a bit steep, so I can’t go often, but it’s perfect for an occasional treat.”

“I’m heading to Jiangcheng on a business trip in a couple of days. I’ll give it a try while I’m there.”

    “……..”

Du Xiaoxiao hailed a cab. Her next destination: straight to the Corner Cat and Dog Rescue Station.

    About two hours later,

she arrived at the Rescue Station.

“Hi, I’m looking for the person in charge here—Pang Tao.”

Du Xiaoxiao stepped into the Rescue Station and stopped a staff member who was feeding a stray dog.

“You’re looking for Boss Pang? They’re all over at the Pet Park supervising some work. Just head east down the road outside—should take about fifteen minutes on foot. If you’re driving, it’ll only be a few minutes.”

The staff member walked to the entrance and pointed down the road.

“Got it, thank you. Mind if I take a look around the Rescue Station first?”

Du Xiaoxiao nodded but didn’t leave right away. She wanted to check out what the Rescue Station was like.

    “Sure, but just looking—no touching.”

The staff member gave a quick reminder, then led the way inside.

Du Xiaoxiao followed, stepping into the backyard area. The stray dogs were each housed in separate kennels.

But what really surprised her was that these strays were incredibly clean. Their fur was well-groomed and silky smooth—not at all what she expected from stray dogs.
