Slacker Second Gen C35
by MarineTLChapter 35: Dragon Dad 5
Lacia had been keeping an eye on the young dragon. When he saw her get startled and release a cloud of mist, flailing and twisting wildly in the air, he couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
It had been a long time since he had laughed so heartily.
Hearing his laughter, the young dragon seemed to have found a sense of security. In a panic, she swam toward him without thinking, and with a “slap,” she clung to his face, her tail and two hind claws even going inside his open mouth.
Lacia: “…”
Cough. He pulled the child out of his mouth, making sure not to accidentally swallow her.
“My child, that was just a little bug. There’s no need to be afraid, for you belong to the strongest species in the world—you are a dragon.”
The little dragon raised her head proudly: “Qian—”
Lacia: “Alright, I should show you more of the other races in this world.”
In a rush, he quickly took the young dragon and left the territory of the Wood Elves’ Le Xuer.
Eighth grade was the final year of school. These students, all of whom were already over twenty, would face their graduation tasks after completing this year.
When the giant dragon Lacia appeared in the classroom, these oldest students in the school instantly became obedient—more so than the first-year students.
They stopped talking and fooling around, instinctively pulling out their dragon language textbooks.
Lacia walked up to the podium. “Today, I will be teaching you about magical species and summoning.”
The students said nothing, obediently pulling out another book.
The senior students were used to Lacia’s teaching style.
No one was foolish enough to ask why it was him teaching; they had already heard about him substituting for lower-year classes.
If these students weren’t occasionally sneaking glances at the young dragon, their pretending-to-be-serious expressions would have been perfect.
“Let me see where your medman teacher left off… summoning undead creatures? Not bad.”
Lacia flashed a gentle and handsome smile at the students. “Then today, we will summon some undead creatures.”
The students: “…”
“Some” undead creatures?
Medman had been teaching summoning undead creatures for an entire year, but he had only covered the composition of summoning magic circles and how to identify undead creatures.
Lacia, however, not only planned to summon real undead creatures but also to summon more than one?
Undead creatures existed in the land of death, and there was a barrier between the land of death and the continent where humans lived.
During the great race war, after the undead creatures and humans’ war ended, over a hundred top-level mages and several giant dragons created this barrier, trapping the undead creatures on the other side.
Without powerful strength, one couldn’t penetrate the barrier to enter the land of death, and undead creatures could only come to the human world through human summoning.
Many necromancers enhance their fighting power by summoning powerful undead creatures and forming contracts with them.
Without caring about what the students were thinking, Lacia started drawing a magic circle on the empty ground beside the podium.
The intricate magic circle emitted purple light, and the students held their breath, watching the circle and the faint shadow that appeared in its center, their hearts and hands trembling with excitement.
A tall, thin figure, over three meters tall, emerged from the magic circle.
It was draped in a tattered gray-white cloak, its face blurry, with no arms or legs.
Its head nearly touched the ceiling of the classroom. Even though it had no eyes, its towering presence gave the students the unsettling feeling that they were being watched.
As the figure solidified, all the students in the classroom felt their bodies stiffen and freeze, a cold, ominous aura quickly pouring out of the magic circle, surrounding them.
Unlike Lacia’s cold, magical ice aura, this chill made them feel fear, stirring up their negative emotions.
“Is this… a vengeful spirit? This size… at least a level-five vengeful spirit!” one student trembled, whispering.
And next to this terrifying vengeful spirit, Lacia was still smiling, standing calmly, and explaining, “This is a cute level-five vengeful spirit. Its size isn’t too big, and it likes to devour souls.”
The students’ faces turned pale: “Teacher, we’ve seen enough—please send this terrifying creature back!”
Lacia: “This is the most common type of vengeful spirit in the land of death. Actually, it’s very timid. It’s not dangerous at all. As long as you don’t lose your sanity from fear, it won’t be able to devour your soul… Understand, Qian?”
The students, who were nearly fainting from the vengeful spirit’s aura, finally realized that Lacia was teaching the young dragon.
So they were just bystanders?
The young dragon wasn’t afraid of the vengeful spirit. To her, it was less terrifying than the meat worms that sometimes appeared in the fruit.
She blew a puff of air at the giant dragon: “Qi!”
Lacia then turned to the students, “Alright, you’ve all seen and felt it. Now, who would like to try sending this vengeful spirit back?”
The students: “…” Teacher, can you not see that we are about to be sent back by this thing?!
But Lacia just smiled and waited for them to act.
Reluctantly, the students in the front row recalled what they’d learned in class and began to cast the banishment and sealing spells toward the spirit.
But it didn’t work.
Seeing that Lacia wasn’t going to help, a male and a female student bravely stepped forward, trying to alter his summoning magic circle.
They were a pair of siblings, a prince and princess from the Canglong Empire.
With these two leading the charge, other students joined in, trying to modify the magic circle to turn the summoning into a banishment.
They struggled for a while, but finally saw the vengeful spirit’s figure become slightly transparent, giving all the students hope and excitement.
Lacia sat back, crossing his legs, watching the students’ efforts along with the young dragon.
Unfortunately, halfway through the process, something went wrong. The vengeful spirit suddenly twisted violently, attempting to step out of the summoning circle. The students were terrified, screaming as they scattered across the classroom.
Lacia then stood up and with a wave of his hand, destroyed the magic circle, causing the rebellious vengeful spirit to twist and dissipate into the air.
Looking at the panicked students in the classroom, Lacia knocked on the desk twice: “How did your Medman teacher teach you? A mere vengeful spirit has you all this frightened?”
The group of self-proclaimed “pride of heaven” students dared not speak. Other teachers weren’t as straightforward as Lacia, and they were always pushed with some advanced topics that occasionally tested their skills.
Despite the earlier chaos, the opportunity to see such a high-level vengeful spirit for the first time and observe it up close, attempting to break the giant dragon’s magic circle, excited them. Compared to the minor monsters they encountered on their usual expeditions, this was far more thrilling.
“Have you rested enough?”
The students, who had just regained some color in their faces, suddenly heard Lacia’s gentle voice, and instinctively, they tensed up.
Whenever Lacia used such a captivating voice, they knew something bad was about to happen.
Sure enough, Lacia continued: “Since you’ve rested, let’s move on to the next one.”
The students nervously braced themselves.
Though they felt they could learn a lot, they couldn’t keep up with such relentless challenges.
Lacia drew another magic circle.
This one was larger than the previous one, emitting an even more terrifying aura.
When a huge gray-white bone hand emerged from the circle, the students’ gasps of shock echoed in the classroom.
As the figure slowly revealed its head, its eye sockets burning with eerie ghost fire, the light in the classroom dimmed.
“Ske… Skeleton Prince?” one student hoarsely muttered.
Only top-tier mages could summon such high-level skeletons, and even their Medman teacher couldn’t casually perform such a summon, but Lacia effortlessly pulled this creature from the land of death.
Most of the students here would never be able to summon such a skeleton in their lifetime.
Unlike the vengeful spirit, this Skeleton Prince was far more aggressive. As soon as it appeared, it tried to break free from the magic circle. The circle shook violently from its struggles.
“This is a skeleton. Skeletons are the most common undead in the land of death, but their levels vary greatly. This one is a Skeleton Prince. Above them is the Skeleton King. But don’t be afraid; they’re just bone structures powered by magic. As long as you remove the magic crystal stone from their body, they can no longer move…”
Lacia explained to the young dragon.
“Crack! Crack! Crack!” The enormous skeleton continued to make noise as it wildly flailed around.
Lacia turned his head, finding the sound of the teaching material very annoying.
He extended his hand, and his pale, slender fingers instantly transformed into a dragon’s claw, gripping the skeleton’s neck and pinning the ferocious creature to the ground.
With the force of the giant dragon, the skeleton crashed into the floor, even losing a tooth, which flew out of the magic circle.
The students: “!!!”
It was a high-level magical item! The Skeleton Prince’s bone! Ground into bone powder, it could be used to make advanced potions! One gram of bone powder was worth ten grams of gold!
Lacia held the skeleton down with one hand and brought the young dragon up to the skeleton’s chest, letting her observe the translucent crystal inside.
“Look, this is their source of magic.”
The young dragon gazed at the sparkling, ruby-like magic crystal without blinking.
The giant dragon liked shiny things, and the young dragon was still growing and was drawn to magical objects.
She felt hungry.
The little dragon wagged her tail, itching to move.
Lacia finished teaching the young dragon and began teaching the students.
“Alright, now let’s see if you can send it back.”
Although they felt this was a tough task, the students accepted the challenge.
Challenging the Skeleton Prince was definitely easier than challenging Lacia.
Lacia watched as the students pondered, and accidentally, they stumbled upon a clue, raising an unexpected eyebrow.
Not bad, they were growing quickly.
Humans had fragile bodies, but they always managed to grow and learn.
Lacia spaced out for a moment, and the little dragon flew out of his hand.
She blew saliva at the Skeleton Prince’s magic crystal and finally made up her mind, taking a bite.
To her, this thing wasn’t much different from the fruit hanging from Le Xuer’s tree.
Just as the little dragon darted into the skeleton’s chest, a student shouted in excitement: “Done! The magic circle is complete!”
At the same time, Lacia realized something was wrong. He reached out to stabilize the magic circle.
However, the magic circle vanished too quickly. The Skeleton Prince disappeared from his claws, and the little dragon, who had sneaked into its leaky chest, also disappeared with the creature into the magic circle.
Both were sent back to the land of death.
Lacia: “…” He looked at his empty hands.
