    Chapter 128: The Doomsday Martyr – 11

Ren Xin wandered down to the tenth underground level again, only to find that security was even tighter than before. It was just one beast; did they really need to make such a massive scene?

Huhu filled Ren Xin in. “I’m the only survivor out of the thirty fierce beasts those wicked humans captured. That old man keeps muttering that I don’t show any signs of rejection.”

Ren Xin was speechless. Could this tiger actually be humanity’s hope?

Book Spirit Number One rubbed salt in the wound. “Host, it looks like your Virtue Points aren’t enough to make up for this~”

Ren Xin flipped through her inventory again and found a Detoxification Pill1. This should be useful, right? She said to Huhu, “Be a good boy and give me a little of your blood. I’ll give you some stir-fried pork liver to eat~”

Huhu tried to refuse, but Shen Shen wouldn’t listen.

She took an amount of blood that wouldn’t harm Huhu and immediately set her up with a blood-replenishing meal. Only then did Huhu become docile.

Ren Xin quietly placed the items on the laboratory table, even thoughtfully leaving behind instructions for use.

This incident stirred up another storm within the safe zone, but Ren Xin stayed holed up in her small rented room. Every day was spent either reading books or watching movies. She was so bored she felt like she was growing mushrooms2!

Wen Ci would occasionally return. He didn’t do anything else, just held her while he slept. This made Ren Xin feel more like a body pillow than a young woman in her prime!

This guy couldn’t be “one of the girls,” could he?

    It was highly suspicious!

To everyone’s delight, the safe zone administrators announced that the vaccine research was a success. However, ability users were prioritized, followed by management, and finally the common citizens. No one really had any objections to this arrangement.

Most importantly, the vaccine was free. One could get the injection just by presenting their residence permit.

People whispered amongst themselves, feeling as though they finally saw hope. Perhaps this apocalypse would be over soon. With a vaccine, they wouldn’t have to fear the zombies or the virus anymore. When it came time to fight, they wouldn’t have to hold back.

Ren Xin didn’t join the crowd, but she was somewhat interested in how the scientists had managed to replicate the Detoxification Pill.

When she had nothing to do, she would wander into the lab and follow behind an old man, watching him experiment, extract, analyze, and eventually go mad.

Forget it, forget it. The “Great Scientist” persona didn’t suit a ginseng!

Wen Ci finally had some free time and came looking for Ren Xin to sleep. This wouldn’t do; she was getting a bit tired of it, so she declined the “date.”

“Am I not your favorite anymore?”

“Not anymore,” Ren Xin stated stubbornly.

Wen Ci took off his shirt. His sturdy neck, broad shoulders, and eight-pack abs seemed to glisten.

“You don’t love these anymore either?”

Ren Xin was mesmerized, but she remained stubborn. “I don’t! That’s right!”

Wen Ci slowly and methodically unbuckled his belt with one hand, his gaze never leaving Ren Xin for a second. He asked softly, “You don’t love any of this?”

Holy crap, has this guy been trained? How does he know all the tricks of a gigolo?

Wen Ci’s belt hung half-undone by his legs. He then expressed his regret. “It seems you really have lost interest. I’ll be going then.”

This damn man actually started slowly buckling his belt back up.

Ren Xin was at a loss for words. What “good girl” could possibly stand this!

Thus, Ren Xin transformed into a passionate ginseng and pinned him down.

Wen Ci said gently, “But I’m a bit unwilling now. You’re forcing me. I’ll scream.”

    This exciting?

Then bring it on! She absolutely had to ravage him.

And so, Ren Xin finally “ate the meat3.” By the end, she couldn’t tell who had eaten more. She confidently believed it was her; she was the one who had gained the advantage, so she hadn’t lost out.

Book Spirit Number One commented from the sidelines, “She’s surprisingly competitive… too bad she doesn’t use it for anything productive!”

    Translator’s Notes
