    Chapter 113: The Vicious Mother-in-Law’s Affection – 4

After learning the full story of why Ren Xin had appeared, Zhang Ruiran felt nothing but touched. Meanwhile, the teachers lingering in the office during their free period were left speechless.

It was their first time hearing of a mother-in-law coming to her daughter-in-law’s workplace to provide backup. This had to be a long-lost biological daughter!

As she was leaving, Ren Xin asked casually, “Ruiran, what are you having for lunch?”

“I’ll just grab a bite at the cafeteria.”

That wouldn’t do. Ren Xin immediately started making calls to have food delivered. It had to be nutritionally balanced, it had to be aesthetically pleasing, it had to be…

Tang Ruihang and Zhang Ruiran had long since lost the will to argue. They let Ren Xin do whatever she wanted, treating it as a senior’s way of showing affection.

“Mom, I’ve realized you really like Ruiran. I’m so happy!”

Ren Xin replied indifferently, “Don’t get excited too soon. Now that I like someone else, I don’t like you anymore.”

Tang Ruihang: “???” Was he about to lose his mother?

Ren Xin had nothing to do at home. Every day was spent either collecting rent and depositing money or going shopping. After a while, it lost its charm.

“Son, I’m going to work at your company. I’m bored out of my mind.”

Tang Ruihang tried to persuade her otherwise, feeling helpless. “Mom, my company doesn’t have a position suitable for you. Please don’t add to the chaos.”

What kind of talk was that?

Could a mother not start her own company?

And so, Ren Xin began organizing the opening of a local specialty shop, partly to further her grand mission of hoarding goods.

Ren Xin started traveling all over the country, rarely staying at home. However, every time she tasted something good, she would mail it to Zhang Ruiran, telling her to take it home for her family to try. She even included pictures and detailed explanations on how to prepare and eat the items.

This left Zhang Ruiran’s family very satisfied with Ren Xin. When a girl gets married, the most important thing is whether the mother-in-law is easy to get along with. Ren Xin placed so much importance on their daughter, giving her gifts and a car, and even standing up for her at work. Even a biological mother could only do so much. They were deeply grateful, and as a result, they treated Tang Ruihang even better.

Ren Xin offered her own guide to winning over a wife: “Son, just be thick-skinned and go to your in-laws’ house to scrounge for meals. A man’s dignity is meant to be thrown away; it’s not worth much anyway!”

    Tang Ruihang: “…”

“Mom, you’ve been ‘running away from home’ for three months now. When are you coming back?”

“I’m not running away. I’m finding the second spring1 of my career. Look at how booming my specialty shop is! By the way, share some posts on your social media for me. As my son, don’t be so lacking in situational awareness.”

Tang Ruihang felt his mother had changed significantly, but they were all positive changes. He was happy to see it happen; his mother could finally be herself.

Ren Xin was currently so happy she was practically flying. This wasn’t a mission series at all; it was a full-blown vacation itinerary.

Book Spirit Number One: “Host, I want to know the secret to your happiness.”

    “It’s because I’m simple-minded!”

    “…” That actually made sense!

Her hoard grew even larger. Her space was filled with all sorts of miscellaneous items. Seeing it packed to the brim gave Ren Xin an immense sense of satisfaction.

Book Spirit Number One continued to ask about things it didn’t understand. “Host, why are you so obsessed with hoarding? I’ve never seen you use any of it. I want the truth this time.”

Ren Xin lay on the beach, wiggling her toes. In a relaxed mood, she mercifully offered an explanation. “I love the rush of the moment I acquire something, and the satisfaction of seeing things piled up until they’re overflowing. You wouldn’t understand. Sometimes my possessiveness flares up, and I feel like everything should belong to me.”

Book Spirit Number One said weakly, “Isn’t that a psychological condition?”

Ren Xin replied nonchalantly, “So what? What normal person doesn’t have some kind of incurable quirk? I’m very satisfied with my condition, and I intend to keep it that way~”

This… was truly hard to put into words!
