by MarineTLChapter 162: After the Wealthy Lady Went Bankrupt – 5
“Hello, Miss Ren. I am Mo Qiuyang.”
“You know who I am?”
Mo Qiuyang chuckled softly. “Since we are going to be partners, it’s better to know my partner’s background in advance.”
Ren Xin didn’t feel particularly offended. She asked indifferently, “When do we set off?”
“How about Miss Ren calculates an auspicious date and time?”
Ren Xin: “…” This bastard really doesn’t treat a ginseng spirit like a serious professional.
“Does that request fall within the scope of my labor fees?”
“It doesn’t. We set off tonight!”
Ren Xin rolled her eyes. This guy just loved to talk nonsense all day long.
Ren Xin armed herself to the teeth. She dug out clothes made from Magpie feathers and spirit silkworm silk, transforming them into the shape of a modern hiking suit to wear. Her shoes were even more impressive: boots made from the shed skin of some unknown creature. Her backpack was just a standard model, used purely as a cover for her belongings.
At ten o’clock sharp that night, they departed. Ren Xin climbed into the car. Zhan Tian was in the front passenger seat, and the driver was actually that Prison Brother. His name seemed to be Zhang Qiang.
Sitting in the back seat with Ren Xin was the financier for this trip, Mo Qiuyang.
Zhan Tian greeted Ren Xin enthusiastically. “Hello, Sister Ren! I’m Zhan Tian, do you remember me?”
Ren Xin nodded. “I remember. You’re that ‘Carnival’ with the lousy luck.”
Zhan Tian: “…”
Prison Brother gave Ren Xin a reserved nod. He didn’t dare speak, fearing that Ren Xin might hurt him.
“We’re driving there?”
Zhan Tian was quite the chatterbox. “Yeah, we’re driving ourselves. That way we can enjoy the scenery along the way!”
Ren Xin asked in a cryptic tone, “How many cars are behind us in total?”
Zhan Tian replied with equal mystery, “Ten cars. Sister Ren, did you see something?”
“Not really. I’m just making small talk because I’m bored.”
Zhan Tian: “…” He decided he wasn’t going to speak anymore either.
The car was very quiet. Ren Xin shifted her gaze onto Mo Qiuyang.
Under such a burning gaze, Mo Qiuyang found it impossible to close his eyes and rest.
He raised an eyebrow, signaling Ren Xin to speak if she had something to say.
Ren Xin asked curiously, “Mr. Mo, I just wanted to ask, when will the money you promised me hit my account?”
Mo Qiuyang said unhurriedly, “When I see Miss Ren’s true abilities.”
This guy really was the type who wouldn’t release the hawk until he saw the rabbit.
“Fine. Stop at the service area ahead for a bit. We’ll get out and wait for ten minutes.”
Zhan Tian regained his energy. “Why?”
“Don’t pry into a master’s business!”
Prison Brother once again felt pity for Zhan Tian, who had slumped back into a depressed state.
He used the walkie-talkie to tell the cars behind to meet at the service area ahead.
Once they arrived, the people getting out of the trailing cars asked curiously, “Didn’t we just leave? Why are we resting already?”
Ren Xin politely indicated that she needed to use the restroom, so was there a problem?
Everyone: “…” Is this the supposed mystic?
In truth, no one really understood Mo Qiuyang’s decision or why he insisted on bringing this person along. She seemed completely useless.
Ten minutes later, Ren Xin strolled back. She looked up at the sky with a feigned air of profound wisdom. “Let’s go! Don’t stop at all from here on out.”
The group got back into their cars, grumbling inwardly with dissatisfaction.
After driving for about another ten minutes, they saw a large semi-truck that had flipped over and crashed across the lanes. Beside it were cars that had rear-ended it: a massive multi-car pileup.
If they hadn’t stopped at the service area, they would have certainly been part of that pileup given their speed on the highway.
A master was indeed a master.
Ren Xin said triumphantly to Mo Qiuyang, “Can you give me the money now?”
Mo Qiuyang directly transferred one million to Ren Xin, calling it a deposit and stating that the remaining balance would be paid at his discretion.
Ren Xin: “…” Truly the world’s biggest jerk!
Zhan Tian’s “bleeding heart” tendencies flared up. “Sister Ren, since you knew what was going to happen, why didn’t you stop it?”
“How could I stop it? A violent death means the King of Hell1 is coming for his due; there’s nothing I can do. Haven’t you heard? A person’s death is fated before their life is even set. If you’re meant to drown in a river, you won’t die in a well2.”
