by MarineTLChapter 165: After the Wealthy Lady Went Bankrupt – 8
Led by Prison Brother, the team finally stumbled their way to the approximate location.
However, Ren Xin felt something was off. She frowned, walking around to survey the surroundings.
Book Spirit Number One asked curiously, “What’s the situation? What did you find? Shen Shen, promise me, don’t take any risks. If there’s danger, just send Huhu out to block it.”
Huhu: “???” It had just woken up and was currently lurking in the group chat.
“This place is hardly a feng shui treasure trove1. Why would a regional lord be buried here? Strange,” Ren Xin muttered to herself.
Mo Qiuyang heard her clearly. “So, there’s something wrong with this tomb?”
Goatee seemed to have recovered his strength and was once again brimming with combativeness. He sneered mockingly, “Do you even need to say that? Anyone with a surface-level understanding of feng shui can see what’s going on here. You’re truly just fishing for fame.”
Ren Xin nodded. “Every word out of your mouth is pure gold!”
Goatee flared up again. Ren Xin said with a hint of pity, “If a person’s emotions remain this unstable as they get older, they really are nothing but a useless waste of space.”
Several Daoist priests were about to step forward again when Ren Xin offered a smooth apology. “Am I talking too much? Then I am truly sorry~”
The Daoists: “…” This person is utterly shameless!
But why did their chests feel so tight with frustration?
Book Spirit Number One, the “Expert of Understanding,” came online. “That’s it. This is the key step to giving them stress nodules2. Meeting my Sister Shen is their karmic retribution3!”
Ren Xin: “…” A backstab from one of her own.
Prison Brother was also a bit dazed. “The location I know of is right here, but as for the specific spot, I’m not sure.”
Ren Xin continued to wander around. A middle-aged man, likely some kind of professor, spoke to her very politely: “Little girl, don’t wander off alone. Try to stay with the group. Stay safe.”
Ren Xin thanked him politely.
Among the nearby students, some sized Ren Xin up with curiosity, while others curled their lips in disdain.
It didn’t matter. Since no one liked anyone else, there was no need to maintain social graces. She might as well let herself go.
Ren Xin strolled over to the group of Daoists and poked her head in to hear what kind of meeting they were holding.
Goatee spotted Ren Xin immediately and asked with irritation, “What are you doing here?”
“I came to see what kind of plan you’ve come up with. I already know the answer, so why don’t you all share your findings? I want to see if anyone is as brilliant as me.”
Goatee let out a cold laugh. “Now you know to come begging for help? I’m telling you, it’s too late, you fame-seeker. We won’t tell you anything. Everyone relies on their own ability.”
Ren Xin disagreed. “Daoist, that’s a very ugly way to speak. Let me tell you, this is a brainstorming session. Don’t sell yourselves short; what if you happen to guess right?”
After infuriating them, Ren Xin continued her aimless wandering. Zhan Tian ran over to ask, “Sister Ren, do you know the exact location?”
Ren Xin nodded. “I do, but I’m used to being low-key and don’t like to show off.”
Zhan Tian didn’t give up and continued to ask, “Then tell me. I love showing off~”
Ren Xin thought about it and realized that staying at a standstill wasn’t a solution either. She leaned in and whispered the exact coordinates to Zhan Tian.
Zhan Tian asked in disbelief, “Where? Are you serious?”
Ren Xin nodded confidently. “Believe in Sister Shen and find the Great Dao4. Just go for it!”
So, Zhan Tian called over his group of men to the spot Ren Xin had pointed out and ordered them to start digging. Mo Qiuyang seemed completely indifferent, letting Zhan Tian and Ren Xin mess around as they pleased.
Everyone was watching each other’s every move, full of mutual suspicion.
Goatee had something to say: “I’ll just wait to see how you lie your way out of this later. There’s no way the entrance to the burial chamber is here…”
Ren Xin ignored his incessant babbling. She pulled out a wet wipe, cleaned her hands, and produced a fresh apple from who-knows-where. Snapping it in half, she said to Mo Qiuyang, “Five hundred yuan for half, how about it? I’ll even provide a free wet wipe for your hands~”
Mo Qiuyang shook his head. “I don’t like apples.”
A miscalculation. She had forgotten to do a background check on her benefactor, missing out on a prime opportunity to make some extra cash.
Goatee was still droning on about the principles of the world, rambling about how the feng shui worked.
Suddenly, a cheer erupted from Zhan Tian’s side. “Boss, we found it! We found it! Sister Ren is truly a god!”
Ren Xin crunched on her apple, looking at Goatee with an innocent gaze that seemed to say: “Come on, let me see how you’re going to dig yourself out of this one.”
Goatee lost his composure and shouted, “Impossible! The entrance shouldn’t be here. This is a major taboo; the books don’t record it this way!”
“Better to have no books at all than to follow them blindly5… crunch, crunch…”
