Chapter 82: Does President Chen Think We’re Not Working Hard Enough?

“President Chen, it’s really all thanks to my mentor.”

“A while ago, I visited my mentor at Cangxue Games to ask for some advice on business development. After hearing me out, he actually shared all his client resources with us.”

“It’s precisely because we had access to those clients that we managed to secure so many orders.”

“But the key thing is still that the clothes our factory produces are of excellent quality.”

    “……”

Upon hearing President Chen’s question, Wu Yu quickly explained how he had gone to Cangxue Games to seek advice from his mentor.

If it hadn’t been for the client resources his mentor gave him, there was no way a few newcomers like them could have landed so many orders.

So he definitely wasn’t trying to hog the credit—his mentor had shared such valuable client information with them, so naturally, he had to give credit where it was due in front of President Chen.

    Wu Yu’s mentor?

    Wasn’t that Wei Yan?

    So it was that turncoat.

How generous of him, sharing client contacts he’d accumulated for years.

I transferred you to Cangxue Games and you’re still causing trouble for me?

Chen Mo clutched his chest, feeling like he was about to have a heart attack from sheer frustration.

“Alright, I get the picture. You can all head back now.”

Chen Mo waved them off weakly.

Wu Yu stood up and left the office.

    Back at the sales department—

Luo Yuan looked at Wu Yu with a puzzled expression and said,

“I just saw President Chen’s expression… he didn’t look too happy.”

    “He definitely wasn’t happy.”

Wu Yu nodded. He’d noticed the shift in President Chen’s mood as well.

When they first walked into the office, Chen had been all smiles.

The change happened after he mentioned that his mentor had shared client contacts with him.

Yes, that was the moment—when he brought up his mentor handing over those resources.

    But why?

Wu Yu fell into deep thought, and soon, his eyes lit up.

He thought he understood the reason now.

He looked at his two colleagues and said,

“I think President Chen feels like we haven’t been working hard enough.”

“Huh? But we’ve already landed so many orders!” said another salesperson, Cai Jing, confused.

“That’s what we think. But in President Chen’s eyes, these orders probably don’t amount to much.”

“After all, these orders came from the clients my mentor gave us.”

“You have to understand—when my mentor was in the sales department, he landed a million-yuan order on his own. And us? We took those same resources and only managed to pull in a few smaller deals worth a hundred thousand or so.”

“And then we had the audacity to feel proud of ourselves. President Chen is probably upset that we had such good leads and still didn’t put in more effort.”

Wu Yu laid it all out, while also reflecting on his own behavior.

It was true—they had been floating on air a bit these past few days, thanks to those orders.

A while ago, they would’ve been out pounding the pavement already—not lounging around the sales office.

President Chen probably called them in to give them a gentle warning.

But since he was known for treating his employees well, he didn’t call them out directly.

The other two nodded in agreement after hearing Wu Yu’s analysis.

They admitted they had indeed slacked off recently.

The three exchanged looks and left the sales department together—

    —To go chase new business.

    ………

    Inside the office,

Chen Mo sat in silence for a long time.

The system funds had already dwindled to just over 3 million. After covering employee salaries and the sports day expenses, he only needed to spend about another million to finish using up the budget.

    But now—

Because of those salespeople, he had to spend another extra million.

    Sigh…

Chen Mo let out a long, weary sigh.

But what could he do? Was he supposed to take the client leads back from them and forbid them from using them?

He composed himself and picked up another file to continue his approvals.

This one was for the canteen’s weekly procurement expenses.

But when he finished reviewing the purchase order, he frowned at a planning sheet attached below.

    Canteen retail lunch boxes?

    What the hell was this?

He opened the sheet with a confused expression. But once he read the contents—

    Chen Mo fell silent again.

It was one thing for that traitor to stir up trouble—but now this old rascal was getting in on the action too?

They really knew how to run a business.

Selling leftover food from the canteen… and you made over 10,000 yuan in just half a month? Well, thank you very much!

No wonder the canteen’s expenses had dropped significantly—so this was why.

Staring at the retail lunch box plan, Chen Mo’s face darkened.

These two really made the perfect team—

One finds ways to make me spend money, the other finds ways to save it.

    ……

“Shen Rou, don’t go pick up lunch today. I’ll eat in the canteen,” Chen Mo said, turning to Shen Rou, who was working at her desk.

He had to see for himself how this Li Shen was selling leftovers.

    Time passed—

Lunchtime rolled around quickly. But Chen Mo didn’t head straight to the canteen. He waited in the office a little longer until the canteen rush was mostly over.

    At around 12:20,

Chen Mo and Shen Rou left the office and headed to the employee cafeteria.

By now, the cafeteria was mostly empty.

Chen Mo scanned the room and made a beeline for the kitchen.

As he approached, he saw Li Shen standing by a small window near the kitchen, writing something.

    Chen Mo walked over.

He wanted to see what this old rascal was up to.

Approaching from behind, Chen Mo deliberately kept his footsteps light so as not to alert him.

Li Shen was still hunched over the counter, writing.

Chen Mo glanced down and saw that he was writing on a piece of paper:

    Today’s Menu:

    Braised Pork Ribs,

    Soy Sauce Chicken Wings,

    Kung Pao Chicken,

    Twice-Cooked Pork…

    Just then,

Wang Maonian came over carrying a cardboard box. Spotting Chen Mo behind Li Shen, he quickly called out,

“President Chen, you’re here! The meals have already been set aside for you—I’ll go grab them.”

    “No rush,”

Chen Mo waved him off, wanting to continue watching what Li Shen was doing.

But at that moment, Li Shen was startled by Wang Maonian’s voice, turned around, and saw Chen Mo standing right behind him. He hurriedly greeted him,

    “Good afternoon, President Chen.”

Chen Mo gave him a look, then picked up the menu paper and asked casually,

    “What’s this for?”

“President Chen, some workers from other factories are coming to buy boxed meals later—this is for them to see,” Li Shen quickly explained.

Ever since he’d set up a few lunch stalls near the industrial park gate, their boxed meals had become a hit. So he moved the selling point to the canteen window.

Now, anyone who wanted one could come buy a boxed meal from the window. They made only 20 to 40 boxes a day—first come, first served.

After half a month of trial and error, the boxes sold out in a flash every day. It had become a stable income source, so he wrote up a Canteen Retail Boxed Meal Plan and submitted it.

Chen Mo was still processing this when he saw a crowd of workers who had just gotten off shift running toward the cafeteria from afar.

Clearly, their target was the canteen.

    What the hell?
