Ren Yi started by playing the victim to Ren Xin. “Sister, you’re finally back. After you left, I realized I can’t live without you. I know you suffered a lot before, and I was wrong. Please forgive me, okay? Let’s look out for each other and live well together…”
Ren Xin rejected her with mock enthusiasm. “What are you talking about? Even if you can’t see the sky outside right now, you should still stop daydreaming. Besides, without you two leeches around, my life has been incredibly pleasant. Why would I jump back into the mud?”
Triggered, Ren Yi began to scream and shout, “How can you be so heartless? I’m your biological sister! Are you really going to just stand by and watch me die?”
Ren Xin said flatly, “Then you should just go ahead and die.”
Ren Yi stared at Ren Xin in shock, as if she didn’t recognize her. Ren Xin didn’t care and let her stare, taking a moment to scan the state of the room.
It was absolutely filthy!
Xie Mingyi looked at Ren Xin with eyes full of disappointment. “How did you become like this? Weren’t our days together good? I used to think you were a good girl, but now, you’re a complete stranger to me.”
Who could possibly love a man like this? Just hearing him speak was nauseating!
“Let’s cut the small talk. I didn’t come here today to catch up. Actually, I just wanted to see how miserable you were doing, and so far, I’m quite satisfied. Also, I’m here to collect a debt. Everything of mine you ate, drank, and used in the past needs to be converted into grain or currency and paid back to me. Otherwise, I’ll be coming back at scheduled intervals to beat you up!”
Both Xie Mingyi and Ren Yi were dumbfounded. They never imagined in their wildest dreams that Ren Xin would actually come back to settle old scores.
Xie Mingyi gave a disdainful laugh. “Just you? You think you can beat people up? Aren’t you overestimating yourself a bit?”
In response, Ren Xin went straight to work, teaching him a lesson in humility.
Soon, Xie Mingyi was lying on the ground like a dead dog1, moaning and groaning, his face barely recognizable as human.
Ren Xin turned her gaze toward Ren Yi. “And you? What do you have to say?”
Ren Yi was terrified by Ren Xin’s violence. Her voice trembled as she told her to name a price; she would give whatever was asked!
“Then each of you will give me two hundred pounds of refined grain. I don’t care if you sell yourselves or kill and rob others for it. I expect to receive the goods by next month. If you don’t have them, I’ll throw you outside to feed the zombies.”
The two of them nodded in agreement, completely cowed.
But before Ren Xin left, she still gave Ren Yi a brutal beating. Having vented her anger, she felt refreshed and clear-headed.
Book Spirit Number One asked, “Host, do these actions have anything to do with completing the mission?”
“Not at all. I’ve already given up on the mission. I just find this scumbag duo annoying and wanted to blow off some steam!”
Book Spirit Number One didn’t dare to talk back. This was a ginseng spirit who could walk through walls; she was precious and powerful.
Ren Xin originally planned to wander around the upper levels and perhaps take a look outside, but before she could act, an announcement was made for everyone to return to their rooms and wait for a search!
A search? Who lost something?
“Host, did you forget you stole a white tiger?”
“Don’t put it like that. I just wanted to give the white tiger a better life.”
Ren Xin strolled back to her rental room with nothing to do. She started by intimidating the white tiger in her space, then mocked the Book Spirit, and finally gave herself a round of self-praise.
After that, things got even more boring.
A knock sounded at the door. Ren Xin got up to open it and saw Wen Ci standing there in a combat uniform.
Ren Xin: “???” Wait, you never mentioned you were part of the establishment!
Wen Ci was leading a dozen men on a mission. The men behind him all carried a cold, hardened aura. He nodded to Ren Xin and signaled for his subordinates to check the other rooms.
Wen Ci pushed Ren Xin inside and closed the door. With a quick turn, he pinned her against the door.
How exciting!
Ren Xin’s eyes sparkled, as if saying: Hurry up, I’m ready.
For a moment, Wen Ci wasn’t sure if he should continue
