Chapter 305: You’re a Good Driver, God Will Bless You…

Once Ghost’s location was confirmed, the response was swift. In less than two minutes, dozens of police cars roared out of the Yangliu Criminal Investigation Brigade’s parking lot.

There was no doubt about it.

Their destination was the same: Lingling Circus, a ten-minute drive away.

At the same time, inside Lingling Circus, the crowd was growing steadily. It was already 10:30 AM, and more and more visitors were pouring in.

Despite being called a circus, the place also housed a massive zoo, complete with two pandas that served as a major draw for tourists.

As a result, whether it was a holiday or a regular weekday, Lingling Circus was always bustling with visitors and locals alike, many of whom came for a day trip.

Some came to see the wide variety of animals, while others were intrigued by the circus performances.

Since its founding, the magic show segment of the circus had always been the most eye-catching attraction.

At this moment, in the crowd gathered around the Panda Pavilion, a young man with an unassuming appearance moved along with the flow of people toward the next exhibit.

He looked like a regular tourist, wandering aimlessly.

But the way his eyes constantly scanned his surroundings, the way he occasionally glanced at the Sky Eye surveillance cameras, and how he deliberately walked through blind spots in their coverage—these details made it clear that he was anything but an ordinary visitor.

This man took out his phone and checked the time. It was almost 11 AM.

Without hesitation, he made his way toward the largest building in the area—the venue for the daily circus performances.

Every day at 11 AM and 2 PM, the circus held shows that featured animal acts, acrobatics, magic, and more. It was ranked among the top three of its kind in all of Dragon Country.

To put it bluntly, if you came to Lingling Circus and skipped the live performance, it was as if you hadn’t come at all.

After all, these shows drew thousands of spectators each time and were the circus’s biggest selling point.

Right now, Ghost was already in the line for ticket inspection.

He believed that the sheer number of tourists at Lingling Circus would be enough to help him stay hidden through the day.

As for the night, when even Lingling Circus would be cleared out…

Ghost planned to trouble K again.

If nothing unexpected happened, Priest had likely already been dealt with by the Yangliu District police.

That meant K wouldn’t be able to do anything to him today. Even if K wanted to send someone else to execute him, it probably wouldn’t happen until tomorrow.

So, to avoid falling into the hands of the police—or more precisely, to prevent the clue accidentally captured by Lan Cai’er and the others from being made public—K would have no choice but to help him find a new hiding place, no matter how angry he was.

At the very least, it had to be a place where the police would never find him.

That was exactly why Ghost had tipped off the police about Priest’s whereabouts.

Not only to divert their attention and buy himself more time to escape, but more importantly, to use the police to eliminate Priest.

He couldn’t afford to have such a deadly time bomb waiting around in Jiahe City to carry out his execution.

At the same time, to ensure his own safety, Ghost still needed K’s help.

With the police taking out Priest, K would be forced to help him one more night to protect himself.

    It was clear.

As a pure egotist, Ghost had already calculated everyone into his plans to ensure his own survival.

As long as it helped him escape, he didn’t care who he used or what methods he employed. He had no emotional attachment, no hesitation.

    He wanted only one thing—survival.

While Ghost was waiting in line to enter the circus performance hall, a taxi came screeching to a halt in front of Lingling Circus’s main entrance.

The now thoroughly obedient driver quickly pointed at the large sign ahead and said, “that, um, there, already…”

Before he could finish, Gray Wolf’s expression twisted in fury. He suddenly leaned forward, blew hard on the dashboard, and roared, “Nger? Nger?”

“Why? Why you say n**ger again? Are you kidding me?”

    {The driver says “那个” (nèige) – a common Chinese filler word meaning “that” or “um” – which sounds similar to a racial slur in English}

Seeing Gray Wolf’s fierce expression, the driver broke into a cold sweat. He had no idea why this foreigner was so angry, nor how to explain that they had already arrived.

All he could do was frantically point at the sign outside the window and rack his brain to cobble together a sentence with all the English he knew.

    “Already go… go arrived.”

“Go, no go, no need go, you damn black ghost, look up, damn it!”

Seeing the driver getting more and more worked up, Gray Wolf frowned and followed his finger.

The next second, he saw the large, glowing sign that read “Lingling Circus” in five big characters.

Without hesitation, Gray Wolf pulled out his phone and compared the address in the text message to the sign outside.

He couldn’t read Chinese, but judging by the symbols and the shape of the characters, they were practically identical.

This was undoubtedly a relief for Gray Wolf. He closed his eyes, made the sign of the cross over his chest, and silently thanked God for finally answering his prayers and getting him to Lingling Circus just in time.

    Then, after the prayer.

Gray Wolf pulled out his wallet from his pocket. Inside were several bills of Chinese yuan he had exchanged in advance.

Without the slightest hesitation, he pulled out about half of it—easily several thousand yuan—and placed the stack on the dashboard. He even pressed it down deliberately, indicating that this was the fare for the ride.

The honest driver was stunned the moment he saw that much money on the dashboard. As he recalled the bulging muscles on Gray Wolf’s body just moments ago, his expression immediately turned solemn. He quickly waved his hands and shook his head repeatedly.

    “No, no, n—”

Before the driver could finish, Gray Wolf stuffed the money into his arms, patted him on the shoulder, and said,

    “Yes, yes.”

“You are good man, but don’t say n**ger again.”

    “God bless you.”

With that, Gray Wolf opened the car door without hesitation and walked toward the entrance of Lingling Circus.

His eyes, which had seemed naive and easy to fool, now held a sharp and ruthless glint, hidden beneath a layer of quiet intelligence.

Back in the car, the honest driver looked down at the thick wad of cash in his arms, his expression growing increasingly complex.

After a few seconds of silence, he quietly stuffed the money into his pocket and dialed a special number.

“Hello, is this Xiao Xue from 135 Radio?”

“I’m a taxi driver. Yes, I’d like to submit a story that just happened. The title is…”

    ‘Me and My Black Passenger.’
