    Chapter 32: Dragon Dad 2

Lacia saw the dragon egg with his own bloodline aura in a green field.

The egg, pure white and nestled in the green grass, looked so round and cute.

Two butterflies, attracted by the vitality of the egg, fluttered around it near the grass.

The silver giant dragon lay beside the small egg, staring at it intently with eyes as purple as amethyst, its long tail, covered in scales, slowly swaying behind it.

Lacia still couldn’t believe that he had found a dragon egg.

    How thrilling this discovery was!

Lacia took it as a gift from the Dragon God.

The bad-tempered giant dragon carefully stretched its neck, holding the egg in its mouth, and with a space in its mouth, it flew back to its nest.

The giant dragon’s departure caused a great deal of tension among the staff and students of the Central Magic Academy.

At first, everyone was excited seeing the dragon shape, but once the excitement wore off, they felt something was wrong.

Teacher Lacia hadn’t shown his dragon form in years, so why had he suddenly transformed and left so hastily?

“Could it be that he was called by the Dragon God, like the other dragons, returning to the embrace of the Dragon God?” one teacher showed a melancholic expression.

“Teacher hasn’t been in good spirits lately, and his fur isn’t as shiny as before… Could it be that he’s nearing the end of his life?” another teacher guessed.

Amidst the gloomy atmosphere, Principal Uder raised his wand and gathered all the teachers to follow the giant dragon’s tracks, to see if he needed any help.

Just as everyone gathered in the school square and was about to depart, the giant dragon flew back.

It flew quickly, casting a puzzled glance at the group of solemn-faced people before plunging its head into its high tower.

The square fell silent. After a long pause, Principal Uder lightly coughed.

    “Ahem, well… let’s disperse.”

After leaving the square, Principal Uder headed straight to the giant dragon’s high tower.

He was already over 200 years old, one of the most powerful human mages, with a fluffy white beard that gave him an appearance of both kindness and authority.

As the principal, Lacia gave him some face and allowed him to enter the high tower.

“Teacher Lacia! Are you alright? What happened?” Uder lifted his cumbersome robe and hurriedly asked as he walked.

Dragons live for a long time, and this has led to many of the school’s past principals being Lacia’s students, including Principal Uder.

He had also once been a troublesome child, frozen into an ice sculpture and displayed outside. Now older, he was calm outside, but inside Lacia’s high tower, he remained a bit careless.

Lacia, in his dragon form, lay in the nest, his claws tucked around him in a dignified posture… incubating the egg.

“Uder, be quieter, I’m incubating the egg.”

    Principal Uder: “?”

“Teacher, you laid an egg?!!” Principal Uder’s narrowed eyes widened in surprise, blurting out.

The giant dragon looked at him, let out a soft exhale, and a gust of frostwind blew past, leaving an ice crystal hanging on Principal Uder’s white beard.

“This is probably a gift from the Dragon God. I can sense that this is my bloodline.”

“In this era, I am the last giant dragon, or perhaps this child will be the one to start the next era of dragons.”

“If that is the case, even though my life is nearing its end, I have no regrets as long as I can see her born.”

The giant dragon showed a tenderness never before seen for the egg in his arms, his tone filled with a heavy sigh and endless hope.

Tears welled up in Principal Uder’s eyes, and he couldn’t help but offer comforting words: “Teacher, please don’t say that. You still have a long time. We can find a way to…”

Lacia interrupted him: “Indeed, so keep your tears to yourself. Even though I’m an old dragon, the time I have left is enough to see off several of you.”

Principal Uder silently wiped the frost off his beard. When Teacher Lacia spoke, it was as cold as his dragon breath.

After Principal Uder’s visit, the Giant Dragon Tower was temporarily sealed off, but everyone in the magic academy was excited.

They were about to welcome a new giant dragon!

What kind of dragon would it be?

“It should be like Teacher Lacia, a Frost Giant Dragon!”

“Teacher Lacia’s dragon form is so beautiful! I wonder if we’ll ever get to see what the Frost Giant Dragon looked like when it was young!”

“Not necessarily.” The silver-haired youth, Nite, holding a magic book, joined the conversation.

“The Frost Giant Dragon may not necessarily give birth to a Frost Giant Dragon. According to my family’s records, when dragons were first born, a Fire Giant Dragon gave birth to a Wind Giant Dragon, and a Water Dragon gave birth to a Red Dragon… The type of dragon born doesn’t depend solely on the previous generation, but more on the soul.”

“The soul of the dragon determines its shape and power.”

The other students listened intently, their eyes sparkling, hoping he would share more.

Most believed his explanation, as Nite came from a well-known Dragon Rider family.

A thousand years ago, when dragons hadn’t started to die off, their ancestors had tamed dragons.

There were also various folk tales suggesting that their ancestors had fallen in love with dragons, so they had a faint trace of dragon blood.

However, Nite himself believed that wasn’t true.

If he really had dragon blood, Teacher Lacia wouldn’t have disliked him so much and made him suffer through countless Frost Storms in class.

Last semester, he failed three of his courses, which meant he had to study hard, even while chatting with his classmates.

Inside the Giant Dragon Tower, Lacia had been incubating the egg for nearly three months.

As the egg grew larger each day, Lacia, in his dragon form, appeared more radiant and full of energy.

One day, he sensed movement from the egg in his arms and excitedly held his breath, staring at it. From day to night, finally, the shell cracked!

From the crack, a small claw stretched out.

At this moment, Lacia still didn’t notice anything unusual.

The newborn dragon was green, and after the claw stretched out, it rested for a while before breaking through more shell and pushing out its head.

Its movements were slow; it would rest after every effort, but Lacia still smiled contentedly as he watched the child.

    Then, it revealed its body.

As her body slowly emerged, Lacia smiled and sighed, “Haha, what a long-necked child.”

As the “neck” grew longer, Lacia’s expression gradually turned puzzled.

When the long, serpentine dragon finally crawled out of the eggshell and lay limp on it, Lacia remained silent for a long time.

His beautiful purple eyes widened in astonishment.

Lacia had lived for so many years and had seen countless things—yet, he had never seen a dragon quite like this one.

Putting aside the fact that its body was too long, and ignoring its lack of a stomach, its head, horns, beard, and claws were all different from his. But more importantly—why didn’t it have wings?

How could a wingless dragon fly?

Lacia was extremely worried. His massive body couldn’t help but stir slightly in the nest, and the little dragon, resting on the eggshell, seemed to have felt an earthquake, tumbling off the shell in a soft thud.

Lacia immediately froze, his head resting in front of the strange wingless dragon, his large eyes filled with concern as they locked onto the little dragon.

It wasn’t just strange—it was so small and slender.

After a while, the little dragon finally regained some composure. Using its four claws to grip the ground, its elongated body arched, and it lifted its head.

This little cyan-colored creature let out a soft cry toward his nose.

    “Qi… qi…”

    A sound like that.

Lacia immediately felt a surge of affection in his heart.

The appearance of this little dragon was unique, probably because of its unusual origins. This didn’t matter much, though, as there were only two dragons in the world now. Even if it looked different, no other dragons would care.

“Welcome to this world, my child.”

“I am your father, Lacia, the Ice Giant Dragon.”

His beautiful voice echoed low within the tower.

“What name should I give you?”

The little cyan dragon raised one of its claws, brushing away some uncomfortable sticky fluid from its body.

It let out that tender cry again: “Qi… qian… q…”

Lacia seemed to sense something. “You’re so special, you should have a special name. Let’s call you Qian.”

The massive dragon shape was inconvenient for caring for this newborn little one, so Lacia transformed into human form.

The tall man sat in the enormous gem nest, holding the little dragon in both hands.

The little dragon was no bigger than his palm. Its body stretched out, with its head and tail resting on his left and right thumbs, respectively.

Holding her, Lacia withdrew his attention from her peculiar appearance and noticed that her magic power was also special. She was a cyan dragon that had never been seen before, her body filled with the life force of wood.

The giant dragon’s tower had been sealed in ice for three months, and it was finally unsealed.

A long dragon’s roar echoed through the heavens and earth. People who were in class, making magic potions, or practicing magic all instinctively looked up, turning toward the source of the roar.

Principal Ude was chatting and drinking herbal tea with Fizke when they both heard the dragon’s roar and smiled.

“Looks like the little dragon has hatched.”

“I wonder what kind of dragon it will be.”

“Whatever it is, seeing Lacia so happy, I’m happy for him too.”

Fizke was startled when he saw his teacher after a few months.

A few months ago, his teacher had looked tired, as if he were ready to return to the embrace of the Dragon God. Now, he was full of energy, as if he’d drunk a hundred bottles of energy potions. His hair even seemed to glow, and his beauty had increased.

Fizke’s gaze fell on the hands his teacher had placed together in front of him.

“Teacher, did you bring the little dragon out?”

“Yes, her magic power requires her to be close to the plants outside.”

If it weren’t for that, Lacia wouldn’t have brought the little dragon out so soon. His tower was frozen in ice, which wasn’t suitable for her.

Fizke looked at those hands, and under his burning gaze, Lacia finally separated his hands and let him take a quick look.

A cyan, elongated dragon curled around Lacia’s hands several times, dozing off.

Startled by the sudden light, the little dragon raised her head, and two tiny dragon whiskers on either side of her nose fluttered.

    Fizke: “Isn’t it a bit…”

He struggled to swallow the word “strange,” and, under his teacher’s intense gaze, he finally managed to say “cute” instead.

Fizke furiously ransacked his memory of the giant dragon guidebook, beginning to doubt his knowledge: Were all the giant dragon guides I read fake? Why have I never seen a dragon like this?

Lacia was quite pleased with his student’s discernment.

“She is indeed small and adorable. Her name is Qian.”

Fizke smiled and complimented her, and Lacia, satisfied, cradled the little dragon as he walked off.

Once his figure disappeared, Fizke hurried to his spire tower. He needed to flip through the giant dragon guidebook again!

Lacia, holding the little dragon, passed by the small forest behind the academy and heard a series of booming sounds.

It was Teacher Bukebi, who had the bloodline of a bear monster, knocking trees. It was his hobby; every year, he managed to knock down hundreds of trees in the academy.

As he got closer, he saw a black bear several meters tall rubbing against a tree trunk.

Upon seeing Lacia, the bear suddenly transformed into a muscular man more than two meters tall, laughing heartily as he walked over and said, “Teacher Lacia, have you finished hatching the egg?”

    Lacia: “…”

This powerful yet simple-minded bear monster, who had been Lacia’s student, had often gotten beaten up by him for speaking without thinking. Apparently, he still hadn’t learned his lesson.

Lacia didn’t want to argue with this fool and responded with a restrained “Hmm.”

Bukebi leaned closer and looked at the little dragon. He scratched his head and said, “Haha, this little dragon looks like a green vine. She doesn’t have wings. How strange! Haha! Can she fly?”

Lacia’s face darkened instantly. He lifted his foot and kicked the foolish black bear, sending him flying. Bukebi crashed through dozens of trees before finally stopping.

The strength of a giant dragon was far more terrifying than a bear monster. Having gotten beaten up for talking nonsense, Bukebi scrambled up from the ground, skillfully covering his backside, then shoved his head into a tree hole to avoid being seen by his teacher’s angry face.

Lacia didn’t bother with his thick-skinned, foolish student. In a soft tone, he comforted the little dragon in his arms, “Qian, you’re not strange at all. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have wings. Father will find a pair for you.”

    ————

—MC should be an Eastern dragon – In Chinese culture, Eastern dragons are seen as auspicious and powerful creatures, often associated with water, rain, and good fortune. They are benevolent and symbolize imperial authority, wisdom, and strength. These dragons are serpentine in shape, with long, sinuous bodies and no wings.

Western dragons, by contrast, are typically depicted as fearsome, destructive creatures in Western mythology, often guarding treasures or threatening kingdoms. They are seen as symbols of chaos or evil, with large, winged, reptilian bodies and are usually antagonistic figures in stories.

In the Chinese lore, the dragon is a positive, revered symbol, unlike the more fearsome and villainous depiction in Western lore.
