    Chapter 19: School Tyrant 19

When Zai Ye left his mother, Mrs. Wen Ling, and her villa with the child, he had decided not to disturb the lives of the three of them anymore. It was a feeling that was both decisively proud and filled with a deep sense of loss and melancholy.

However, after more than half a month of summer vacation, Zai Ye received a call from Mrs. Wen Ling inviting him to bring the child along for a vacation. He hesitated for less than three seconds before agreeing.

All those previous thoughts about pride and not wanting to disturb his mother’s family, or thinking that he could handle raising the child without help—none of those things mattered now. Right now, Zai Ye only thought that no matter who it was, if there was someone he could trust to take over caring for the child and allow him to temporarily escape the hell of childcare, he would accept any offer.

Although Yu Qian was very well-behaved most of the time, she was still just a two-year-old child. That meant she didn’t understand reason. When she wanted something, Zai Ye often couldn’t resist because this child could cry, and Zai Ye couldn’t bring himself to cry in front of her.

He had thought about hitting the child. Every parent who has been infuriated by their child would have countless moments when they wanted to smack their kid. But every time, the child suddenly became incredibly smart.

When she pouted and reached out for a hug, calling “Daddy,” Zai Ye simply couldn’t bring himself to hit her.

If he scolded her, she wouldn’t run away. Instead, she would cling to his neck, rubbing her little head against his chin, making pitiful whimpering sounds, her small body trembling as she cried softly.

Zai Ye couldn’t even bring himself to scold her.

The poor high school dad, with little experience raising children, was completely controlled by his two-year-old daughter.

He had to put in a lot of effort to outsmart her, such as trying to stop her from rummaging through the fridge for things she couldn’t eat at the moment.

Sometimes, when he wanted to eat something spicy, he had to hide from the child. Because once she discovered it, the child would appear out of nowhere like a cat from all corners, reaching for his food, trying to share it.

    “You can’t eat this now.”

    “I’ll buy you something else.”

Such words couldn’t persuade the child. She would persist in trying, and when that failed, she would cry to achieve her goal.

If that wasn’t enough, the child would sometimes open the door and wander outside when he wasn’t paying attention, giving Zai Ye a good scare.

He didn’t even know how the child had become so daring. She could open the door by herself and even take the elevator. If Aunt Wu hadn’t happened to be coming over to buy groceries, and saw her and brought her back upstairs, Zai Ye wouldn’t even have known she had gone out.

In short, after not much time had passed in the summer vacation, Zai Ye was exhausted by the countless unexpected incidents caused by the child.

This was even with Aunt Wu helping with cooking, feeding, bathing, and cleaning. Zai Ye felt that just teaching the child what she could and couldn’t do had drained all his patience.

The phone call from Mrs. Wen Ling came at the perfect time.

Before making the call, Mrs. Wen Ling had worried that her son wouldn’t agree, knowing his stubborn nature. But with her husband’s encouragement, she still decided to try.

She chatted on the phone, “It’s not good for the child to stay at home all the time. She needs a playmate, to go out and walk around, play with some friends. It’s good for her growth…”

    “Okay.”

    “…You agreed?”

    “Mhm, I agreed.”

Mrs. Wen Ling could hardly believe it. Her eldest son, who wasn’t very close to her, had easily agreed to go out with her family.

But this was a great thing. It had been many years since she had gone on vacation with her eldest son.

This time, they weren’t planning to go far. They would stay at a seaside villa in Binghai City for a while. She had bought the villa earlier for relaxation due to her poor health. Binghai had beautiful scenery, with the cleanest beaches and seawater. This small private beach wasn’t crowded, allowing the child to play freely.

On the day of departure, Mrs. Wen Ling drove to pick up Zai Ye and his daughter.

The young, limitless, and handsome father was dressed simply in a T-shirt and long pants, carrying a large bag in one hand and holding the child in the other. The child wore a matching T-shirt with Zai Ye, except his T-shirt had the word “Xing” (Okay) written on it, while hers had “Bu Xing” (Not Okay). They also wore the same hats, looking quite amusing together.

Mrs. Wen Ling chuckled, “Still wearing matching outfits, that’s nice.”

Once they got in the car, the child quickly started rummaging through the bag for yogurt.

Zai Ye stopped her, “You’ve had enough today. You can’t have more.”

Yu Qian looked at him for a moment, then went back to rummaging through the bag.

Zai Ye grabbed her clothes and pointed to the two characters on her T-shirt, “Look here, do you know what this means? Bu Xing, Not okay.”

The child pointed to his shirt and said, “Xing!”

Seeing their interaction, Mrs. Wen Ling couldn’t help but laugh.

Zai Ye couldn’t care less anymore. After handing the child over to the reliable mother, he immediately took off his hat and fell asleep. He hadn’t slept this peacefully in a long time, not needing to worry about being woken up by the child or whether she might be doing something dangerous.

Mrs. Wen Ling noticed her son’s exhaustion. After they arrived, she let Zai Ye rest while she took the two children to play.

The second time nine-year-old Lu Lang met Yu Qian, Mrs. Wen Ling reintroduced them, emphasizing that as the little uncle, Lu Lang must not bully his little niece.

Though Lu Lang tried to bully the child, he wasn’t successful. He still remembered the incident with the fly swatter, and when his mom wasn’t paying attention, he made faces at Yu Qian, trying to scare her.

Yu Qian seemed to find his faces amusing, even laughing out loud. Every time Lu Lang made a face, she laughed, making it seem like he was purposely trying to make her laugh. After realizing this, Lu Lang angrily stomped his feet.

Finally, taking advantage of the moment, Lu Lang, relying on his height, tried to scare Yu Qian by getting close and shaking his fist. But as he got closer, Yu Qian lost her balance and fell backward. Mrs. Wen Ling, who had turned around at that moment, immediately became furious. She grabbed Lu Lang’s ear and scolded him sternly.

“Didn’t I tell you before we came here? What did you promise me? You tell me…”

While Lu Lang was crying in the background, Yu Qian, sitting on the sand, began to focus on digging in the sand. When Mrs. Wen Ling finished scolding Lu Lang, she called her husband to come deal with the troublesome child, then turned back to look at Yu Qian, who had dug a hole in the sand. Both her chubby arms and face were covered in sand.

She couldn’t help but laugh, “Oh no, little Qian has turned into a dirty kitten. Grandma will take you to wash up.”

After cleaning her up, Mrs. Wen Ling shielded her from the sun with a small umbrella and took her for a walk on the grass. They played in a small pool for a while and then went to have some fruit and rehydrate.

Zai Ye finally woke up after a long rest. Leaning against the stairs, he watched the well-behaved child eating fruit, looking puzzled. “Why is she so well-behaved around you? She doesn’t make any trouble at all. She’s fine with Xiu Ge too, but at home, she makes a mess.”

Mrs. Wen Ling gave him a bowl of fruit and, hearing his question, replied, “A lot of kids are very smart. They know when someone cares for them, and that’s when they throw tantrums or do naughty things. But when their close ones aren’t around, they become well-behaved.”

Zai Ye didn’t say anything and ate a piece of fruit. Yu Qian, already holding a small bowl, walked up to him and tugged on his pants. “Let’s go play!”

Looking at them, Mrs. Wen Ling’s expression softened. “Look, little Qian didn’t ask me to go play, but when she saw you, she said it. She really depends on you.”

Zai Ye snorted lightly, unsure of what to make of it. But he quickly picked up the child and took her outside.

The sun wasn’t as intense now, and the sea reflected a red glow, with a patch of golden light.

Mrs. Wen Ling’s husband, Lu Xishu, and their son, Lu Lang, had just returned from the beach. Lu Lang looked like he had had a great time, hanging from his dad like a little monkey, his face beaming with a smile, already forgetting how he had been scolded earlier.

So, he quickly decided to try to trouble Yu Qian again. He had thought of making trouble for Zai Ye, but this older brother was no longer the same as he remembered. Now, he was tall and strong, even taller than his dad. His hands seemed large enough to knock him flying with a single slap. His expression was also a little scary, and when he stared at him, it made Lu Lang nervous, so he quickly hid behind his dad.

Zai Ye slowly crumpled the empty water bottle in his hand, watching Lu Lang hide, contemplating whether or not to beat the kid to scare him off and stop him from bothering his daughter.

They made it through the first night safely. The next day, the whole family went to the beach to play.

Yu Qian didn’t go into the water. She held a cup of juice, sipping it while Mrs. Wen Ling sat next to her, applying sunscreen to her arms. Once one arm was done, she extended the other one without needing any prompting.

After finishing her meticulous care, Mrs. Wen Ling went off to put something away. In the blink of an eye, Lu Lang seized the opportunity, grabbed a handful of sand, and quickly threw it into Yu Qian’s juice cup, laughing evilly as he waited for her to get upset.

Yu Qian glanced at the cup, then suddenly lifted her hand and poured the juice all over Lu Lang’s pants. His light blue pants immediately became wet, looking very much like… he had peed himself.

Noticing that Lu Lang had approached his daughter, Zai Ye, who had rushed out of the water, walked over angrily and happened to witness the scene. He fell silent. The way his daughter poured juice on someone was eerily familiar, as if she had learned it from him.

He had only done that once in front of her, and she had already picked it up. Why couldn’t she learn good things as quickly as she learned this?

After dumping the juice, Yu Qian, before Lu Lang could react, suddenly pointed at his pants and said, “Pee.”

Lu Lang’s eyes widened, and he immediately panicked, “I didn’t! You poured it on me!”

Yu Qian replied seriously, “Pee pants.”

Lu Lang, furious, turned around to see Zai Ye, who was walking toward him with a menacing look.

Zai Ye walked over, looking down at him, and sneered, “Still peeing your pants at this age. How embarrassing.”

    It was a heartbreaking hit.

Lu Lang, wrongfully accused, burst into tears.

The father and daughter, who had teamed up to make him cry, leisurely walked toward the sea.
