The internet was a chaotic mess, with many fans refusing to believe the scandals, convinced that such blackmail must be fake.
Ren Xin could only say she didn’t mean to. She hadn’t planned to retaliate, and even the book spirit told her not to meddle.
The original host was indeed wrong to expose others’ privacy without permission, but she didn’t deserve to die for it. Ren Xin didn’t pass judgment on who was right or wrong. Having inherited the original host’s body, she also took on this karma. She felt it would be irresponsible not to do something.
So, she casually dealt with the scum.
When Gu Pan’an and Mu Feng returned to the company, they were immediately met with threats and reproaches from the higher-ups, demanding they resolve the matter quickly or the company would unilaterally terminate their contracts.
Mu Feng, his eyes red, asked Gu Pan’an, “Gu-ge, what should we do? I don’t have the money to pay back those endorsement fees. What should I do…?”
Gu Pan’an, in no mood to care for anyone else, snapped harshly, “Shut the hell up! It’s all because of you. If you hadn’t seduced me, I wouldn’t have ended up like this. You’re nothing but bad luck…”
Mu Feng stared at Gu Pan’an in disbelief, his face pale and his voice trembling as he questioned, “Is this how you care about me? You’re the one who said you missed me every moment I wasn’t around, the one who insisted on recording. I agreed because of you! Now it’s all my fault? I accompanied those greasy men and women for you. I gave you everything! Gu Pan’an, do you even have a heart?”
Gu Pan’an’s face darkened as he replied coldly, “It was just a fling. Did you really take it seriously? Get lost. Don’t stand here being an eyesore. I have no time for your romantic fantasies.”
Mu Feng froze. This was the man he liked. He thought he had found love, thought he was finally lucky this time.
It turned out he was just overreaching.
Stumbling, Mu Feng walked out of the room. Gu Pan’an showed a fleeting moment of hesitation, but it was quickly replaced by irritation. He decided to let things cool off for now and apologize later.
The manager entered and said bluntly, “Your online reputation is in shambles. Most are disappointed in you. Only a small portion still believe in you. Right now, the key is to play the victim card and present yourself as someone wronged. We need a scapegoat.”
Gu Pan’an’s eyes flickered, and he remained silent.
The manager understood immediately. “Don’t do anything or make any statements. Leave it all to me. Pan’an, you can’t let emotions get in the way. As long as you stay at the top, you can have anything you want. If you still like Mu Feng, keeping him in secret isn’t impossible. But for now, we need to clear your name.”
After weighing the pros and cons, Gu Pan’an finally replied, “Alright.”
Outside the door, Mu Feng, who had come back hoping to reconcile, bit his lip and trembled all over. Was this betrayal?
Fine, fine, fine. If Gu Pan’an was heartless, he wouldn’t play nice either.
Mu Feng’s manager had already quit. He was just a rookie who had relied on Gu Pan’an’s unconditional support to rise smoothly. The manager had been willing to flatter him then, but now, seeing Mu Feng’s lack of future prospects, the shrewd manager had already moved on.
With no one to consult, Mu Feng wrote a heartfelt post on his own:
“Gu Pan’an and I were in a relationship. I thought I had found my soulmate, but this incident has revealed his true nature. I have no intention of hiding my love or pretending it never existed. I’ve always believed in love above all else, but now I know I was wrong. I fell for the wrong person. The one who claimed to love me turned around and pushed me into the abyss. I’m tired. At this point, call it my fault or my bad luck—I’ll take it. I misjudged him. In the end, I choose to leave the entertainment industry. I hope all my fans can forgive me. I just took the wrong path, but I’m not a bad person.”
This post silenced many of the trolls who had been criticizing him.
