Highway Survival C01

[Press 1[1]: The toilet doesn’t blow up, but the school does; Press 2: The toilet doesn’t blow up, but the company does; Press 3: The toilet doesn’t blow up, but the Blue Star[2] does. With so many options, there’s bound to be one for you! վ’ᴗ’ ի]
“Holy crap! The toilet in our A2 teaching building blew up!”
“Ah?! That’s so wild!”
“Hahaha! Really?! The people inside must have had it rough!”
“Don’t laugh, Sister Yang. Doesn’t Sister Mo have her Art Appreciation elective in A2 today?”
“Oh my god! With Sister Mo’s luck! What do you think the chances are that she was at the scene of the crime…”
The moment those words left her mouth, the laughing dorm room fell dead silent, as if someone had hit the mute button.
The bright smiles on the five girls’ faces froze in unison. After a long moment, they closed their eyes in pain and prayed silently.
“Please, no!”
Mo Yubai stood dazed on an asphalt road, looking around in confusion.
The moment she heard the explosion in the stall next door, she had immediately pulled up her pants and bolted!
But in her haste, her foot slipped, and her body pitched forward uncontrollably.
Fortunately, in the final second before she could make contact with the sewage, she had ended up here.
She wasn’t sure which of the two scenarios was worse.
Staring blankly at the road before her, Mo Yubai recalled her toilet misadventure from a moment ago, and her mind began to wander.
Other people get Alice in Wonderland, but I, Mo Yubai, get lost in a wasteland of shit?
[Hello, dear Blue Star player. Welcome to the Road Survival Game. The rules of the game are as follows:]
[1. The starting vehicle for this game is a standard bicycle. Vehicle upgrade resources can be obtained from roadside treasure chests. However, there may occasionally be surprises in the chests, and we look forward to your reactions.]
[2. The first three days of the game are the novice protection period, during which the game difficulty is reduced by 50%. Please upgrade your vehicle as soon as possible during this period.]
[3. Nighttime rewards are tripled, but opportunities and dangers coexist. If you have the courage and wisdom to explore the night, then good luck to you.]
[4. The explorable area around the road is limited. Beyond that is a restricted zone, which players are forbidden to enter.]
[5. The ultimate winner of this round of the game, the number one on the leaderboard, will receive a gift from the gods, and everything obtained in the game can be brought back to the real world!
The remaining surviving players will receive three hundred million in cash and a lifetime of good health.]
[Game loading complete. All preparations are finished, and the game panel has been opened. The game begins. Have fun.]
Mo Yubai suspected she might have fallen asleep in her elective class, and that the toilet explosion and the road survival were all just a dream.
So, she raised her fist and gave herself a hard punch.
“Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!!!”
Help!!!
It hurt so much she wanted to cry!
This was definitely not a dream!
The sharp pain in her arm forced Mo Yubai, with tears in her eyes, to accept today’s ridiculous turn of events.
She took a deep breath to calm herself down, looked at the game panel in front of her, and decisively chose to check her personal information first.
Name: Mo Yubai
Health: 7/10 (Skipped breakfast)
Strength: 7/10 (Strong as an ox)
Agility: 6/10 (Nimble movement)
Luck: 5/10 (Schrödinger’s Luck)
Accumulated Mileage: 0 (Accumulate mileage to exchange for special chests)
Gold Coins: 0 (A certified pauper)
Class: (Locked)
Examining her stats, she nodded in satisfaction. At least her pig-slaughtering skills hadn’t gone to waste.
Her family had been in the pig-slaughtering business for generations. When other kids were playing during the New Year holidays, it was always the busiest time of year for her family.
One cleaver, one night, one miracle.
If she couldn’t find a decent job this year, she had planned to go home and inherit the family cleaver.
But now that she had been teleported here, it looked like her family’s grand slaughtering legacy would have no successor.
Shaking off her thoughts, Mo Yubai closed her status screen and began to examine the game panel.
Her status icon sat in the top-left corner of the panel, while several prominent icons were stacked vertically down the center:
[Game Shop]
[Leaderboards]
[Chat Channel]
[Trading Market]
She tapped them one by one, but none of them responded. They probably hadn’t unlocked yet.
Her gaze then drifted to the bicycle icon at the very bottom of the panel, and she reached out a curious hand.
The moment her finger brushed it, the icon vanished, and a dilapidated, rusty bicycle materialized before her.
The bicycle was a mix of black and white, looking completely run-down and covered in rust. An equally ancient air pump was strapped to the seat.
If the time and place weren’t so bizarre, Mo Yubai would have assumed this was a piece of scrap metal destined for the junkyard.
Seriously, how unlucky can I get today?
She knew her luck had always been extreme—either she was blessed by the heavens, or she was a walking disaster magnet.
But today, a toilet had exploded, she had slipped on her face, and now she was stuck in this godforsaken place. Surely she had hit rock bottom?
When things reached their worst, they were supposed to get better. Logically, it was about time for her luck to turn around, right?
Dejected, she walked over and gave the bicycle a tentative push.
The bicycle immediately let out a loud, creaking protest.
“Scream all you want, no one is coming to save you.”
After muttering at the bicycle, she climbed onto it with a heavy heart and began to scan her surroundings.
The asphalt road was a fairly wide two-lane street. It was flanked by lush, dense woods filled with plants she didn’t recognize. She couldn’t even tell if she was still on Blue Star.
Looking down at herself, her body was unchanged, and her belongings had come with her.
Inside the large pockets of her cargo pants, she found some tissues, eight packs of pickled pepper pig skin, six packs of spicy konjac strips, three milk candies, and two cartons of wheat-flavored milk with only one day left before their expiration date.
Mo Yubai pulled them out one by one and sniffed them, only breathing a sigh of relief when she was sure they hadn’t been contaminated by the toilet explosion.
Although these supplies wouldn’t last her through the three-day novice period, every little bit helped. Having something was better than nothing.
Still, she couldn’t afford to let her guard down. Her top priority was to find survival resources to ensure she could make it through the three-day novice period.
After setting her goal, Mo Yubai looked at the game panel again, which showed the time was 8:50 AM.
“A good start to the day. Let’s go!!”
Closing the game panel, she stood up and pedaled forward with a hard push. The bicycle let out a continuous, groaning squeak as she rode forward.
After riding for about three minutes, Mo Yubai’s sharp eyes spotted a simple Wooden Treasure Chest hidden quietly in the grass ahead.
“Screeech…”
She put one foot down in a cool, swift motion, successfully braking the speeding bicycle with her foot.
Just as she was about to step forward to check the chest in the grass, she suddenly remembered the “surprises” mentioned in the rules. Her eyes narrowed dangerously, and she decisively turned back to look for a weapon!
She didn’t believe this crappy game would be so kind. A “surprise” would only fool a child!
Taking off her denim jacket, she turned and squatted by the roadside to sift through the gravel, finally wrapping up a relatively clean, large stone.
Swish!
She gave it a practice swing. It was heavy and felt great in her hand!
Pushing aside the obstructing branches, Mo Yubai suppressed the mix of excitement and fear of the unknown rising in her chest.
Poised to strike, she lightly flicked the chest open with the toe of her shoe.
As expected, the moment the chest opened, a sharp beak pecked straight at Mo Yubai!
Her reaction was lightning-fast. She swung the “weapon” in her hand, smashing it toward the creature’s head without hesitation.
Thwack!
The chicken-like monster couldn’t dodge in time. The blow hit dead center, leaving the creature completely dazed and dizzy.
Strike while it’s down!
Mo Yubai pressed her advantage. Pinning the creature down with her foot, she swung her arm repeatedly, the dull thuds echoing continuously.
When the surroundings fell quiet again, the monster’s body had already vanished.
Surprisingly, Mo Yubai didn’t feel a trace of fear. Instead, she looked at her still-clean jacket and let out a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, there were no bloodstains. Otherwise, she would have nowhere to wash it right now.
Pulling her thoughts back, she took a milk candy from her pocket to tide her stomach over, and only then did she turn her gaze to the Wooden Treasure Chest…
[Congratulations to player Mo Yubai for successfully killing the monster Little Weak Chicken and obtaining the first kill! Reward: One Silver Treasure Chest!]
