    Chapter 36: Dragon Dad 6

Even if another magic circle were drawn immediately, it would only summon other random skeletons, not necessarily the one from before.

This type of magic circle can only be used for summoning. Other races, aside from death creatures, must go to the boundary membrane if they wish to enter or exit the land of death.

This day, the teachers and students of the Central Magic Academy saw the figure of the Ice Dragon soaring into the sky again.

The dragon, who had accidentally lost its child, was rushing towards the boundary membrane. Meanwhile, the little green dragon, who had instantaneously arrived at the land of death, had not realized its position had changed.

She was focused on the red crystal emitting a fragrant smell in front of her.

Like fruit wrapped around it, the little green dragon took a small bite.

It wasn’t the sweet juiciness of fruit, but rather a spicy taste. The little green dragon felt that the taste was strangely familiar. While thinking, she chewed quickly.

The Skeleton King, back in its familiar territory, had already realized that a dangerous creature was nibbling on its crystal.

It tried to save itself, its finger bones slipping through the gaps in its ribs to reach its chest. However, it couldn’t reach, so it tried another angle, reaching from under its ribs, which did make contact. But just as it touched, a section of its finger bone was bitten off.

The Skeleton King’s thumb rolled onto the ground.

The little green dragon, having accidentally bitten into a bone, started coughing, spitting out a bad-tasting grayish substance, and quickly ate two more bites of the red crystal to wash away the awful taste.

This Skeleton King had been dominating the land of death for many years and never thought it would meet its end today.

It wasn’t that it wasn’t skilled in dealing with the little green dragon, but such a terrifying incident had never occurred before.

When a skeleton reaches its level, its body appears to be a frame of sewn-together bones, but in reality, it is covered with a layer of transparent magical energy, making it impossible to simply pierce through the body.

Therefore, high-level skeletons have no natural enemies in the land of death, and the Skeleton King had no experience in dealing with internal threats.

The misfortune came when it encountered a newly born dragon, one whose brain wasn’t fully developed and unexpectedly liked spicy things.

The Dragon Clan can naturally break through boundaries, and the little dragon was no exception. She pierced the magical layer as easily as tearing through plastic wrap.

After losing several finger bones, the Skeleton King finally realized that it couldn’t expel the invader in this manner. It began to run wildly across the black land of the land of death.

The little green dragon was still eating. With every bite she took, the crystal shrank, and the Skeleton King’s size also began to decrease.

As the magical crystals in its body disappeared, the magical energy filling its skeleton flowed back, and soon the massive Skeleton King had become the size of an ordinary human skeleton.

Eventually, the small skeleton collapsed to the ground, unmoving.

At that moment, the little green dragon finished the last bite of the crystal.

She poked her head out from the now much smaller skeleton’s gaps and realized something was wrong outside.

    “Qi… qian…!”

The little dragon’s cry echoed far in the vast land of death.

The little green dragon didn’t hear the familiar voice. Every time she cried before, a pleasant voice would respond to her, sometimes with laughter or a hand picking her up.

    But now, there was nothing.

The little green dragon puffed out a mist and floated upward on the cloud mist.

As soon as she moved away from the skeleton, it quickly sprang up, staggering and running even faster than before.

The skeleton race doesn’t die unless their bones are completely shattered into dust. Even if they lose all their magical energy, they can only temporarily stop moving.

Once the crystals were depleted, their levels dropped. Now, this skeleton was reduced to the lowest rank, a small skeleton. It might take a long time before it could gather enough magical crystals again.

The food was finished, but seeing the empty plate, the little green dragon instinctively followed it.

After all, she didn’t know where to go now.

She had eaten the other’s food, so they were somewhat familiar.

This skeleton must have been a good person when it was alive, because after realizing it couldn’t shake off the terrifying enemy behind, it brought her to a place with many high-level skeletons.

The rolling white bone mountains, where countless skeletons searched for their missing bones. Ignoring these incomplete skeletons, there were also giant skeletons around, standing as tall as ten meters or more.

The dim sky, the pitch-black land, and the enormous skeletons walked slowly around.

These skeletons, like the former Skeleton King, all had red magical crystals embedded in their bodies.

Red light leaked from their bone seams, and the spicy magical energy attracted the little dragon.

In order to prevent her from growing too fast and encountering accidents, the dragon father had strictly controlled her diet. Only the elven fruits from Le Xueer could fill her stomach, but they weren’t enough to truly satisfy her; real hunger could only be quenched by magical crystals.

Now that her father was absent, the little dragon seemed to have fallen into a buffet. Everywhere, the scent of food filled the air, and she was filled with delight.

The little dragon, once no bigger than a finger, had now grown to the size of a small arm after eating several crystals of the Skeleton King’s level.

The Dragon Clan’s appetite is a mystery. Aside from being domineering, they are also notoriously greedy, especially the young ones, who are never satisfied.

On this day, the skeletons in the land of death felt the terrifying fear of being watched by their natural enemies.

On this day, a terrifying persecution event occurred in the long-peaceful land of death.

The wandering souls around the bone mountains saw the giant skeletons collapse on the mountain.

The sound of collapsing echoed repeatedly, until there were no more giant skeletons around the bone mountains.

The little green dragon, who was eating diligently, discovered something—she had gotten much bigger. When she tried to crawl into a giant skeleton’s chest again to eat the crystal, she got stuck in its bone seams.

She was stuck, but the one who was most anxious wasn’t her; it was the giant skeleton, which was slightly smaller than the Skeleton King.

It used its white bone hands to pull her out with all its might. The little dragon also made an effort, sucking in her belly, and was finally pulled out successfully.

After a roll in the air, the little green dragon looked up at it and shouted, “Qi!” as thanks.

Then, she tried to crawl into its chest again.

The giant skeleton, with its hollow eyes, looked around at the many former high-level skeletons that had now turned into low-level skeletons. It immediately turned and ran.

The Skeleton race, level reset by the little green dragon, followed behind it.

The struggling skeleton couldn’t escape, and eventually turned into an ordinary low-level skeleton, collapsing to the ground.

It was safe, but it refused to rise again for a long time.

Even System 65, which had not spoken since the host entered this world, couldn’t help but emit a voice of sympathy.

    [Level reset, how tragic.]

But no one else could hear its voice now, and its only listener, the host, was affected by her body and couldn’t communicate with it smoothly.

After eating many magical crystals and growing several sizes larger, the little green dragon looked up. She could no longer feel the scent of food in the air, and she was a bit disappointed.

She once again thought of her beautiful father.

    “Qi…”

    Still, no one responded.

This poor child, who had lost her parents (but just eaten dozens of giant skeleton crystals), set off on her journey alone.

The little green dragon, who had grown much bigger, now exhaled more mist as she swam in the cloud mist, moving aimlessly forward.

She encountered a group of wandering souls.

Wandering souls were the most numerous and the lowest in the food chain in the land of death.

Higher-level vengeful spirits would consume them.

As the little green dragon rode the cloud mist forward, she collided with something. At first, she thought it was a mountain, but after backing up and looking again, she realized it was a high-level vengeful spirit, as large as a small mountain.

Like the vengeful spirit summoned by Laxia before, it wore a tattered gray-white cloak that hid its hands and body, with only some semi-transparent fluff visible from beneath the cloak.

This large vengeful spirit was feeding, its upper body bent and crawling on the ground, devouring the terrified screaming wandering souls in large quantities.

The little wandering souls in front of it were like ants, being sucked in large groups into the “face” of the cloak.

The little green dragon collided with it and interrupted its feeding. The vengeful spirit turned its head and screamed at the little dragon.

Its scream was piercing, and the little green dragon couldn’t help but want to avoid it. She directly dove into the vengeful spirit’s cloak.

Feeling a bit cramped inside the cloak, the little dragon exhaled more mist, pressing the semi-transparent filaments to give herself more space.

She kept exhaling mist, pushing upward.

As she moved, the ghost stopped its feeding. It bent over, its posture resembling that of someone with a stomach ache from overeating.

Finally, the little dragon squeezed from the bottom to the top, popping her head out of the cloak’s face.

The ghost expelled her from its body, and along with her, many semi-transparent filaments were sprayed out.

It sneezed repeatedly, and the filaments fell like snowflakes.

The souls on the ground, trampled underfoot, opened their mouths and scrambled to eat the filaments falling from the sky.

The little dragon rolled a few times in the air, dizzy, and landed above the souls, watching them all with their mouths wide open. She seemed to have recalled something.

Perhaps she saw a similar scene from her chaotic memories.

Suddenly, she grabbed the largest of the filaments and shoved it into a soul’s mouth.

    The soul devoured it hungrily.

Lacia flew at top speed to the boundary wasteland where the membrane was located. Upon tearing open the membrane and following the little dragon’s scent, he arrived and saw his little dragon busy feeding a group of low-level souls with parts of the high-level ghost’s body.

It was as if she were feeding a group of chicks.

She wrorked tirelessly, making sure each soul got fed.

The high-level ghost nearby had half its body torn apart by her, looking weak and on the verge of death.

    Lacia: “…”

His little dragon, in just one day, had grown so much?!

How much had she eaten here?

The most important question was, what could there possibly be to eat in this cursed place?

    “Qian.”

Hearing the familiar voice, the little dragon immediately stopped what she was doing.

She chirped twice in a tender voice and ran straight toward Lacia.

The little dragon, now nearly the size of a person, bumped into him. Lacia remained still as he wrapped his arms around her thick neck, gripping her claws with one hand.

Lacia, with affection, sighed in a tone of reverence: “My child, you’ve suffered.”

Just from the aura around her, he could tell what she had eaten.

To the old father, it was like a child starving to the point of eating dirt.

“Ghost soul crystals are disgustingly bad; how could you possibly eat them… It’s my fault for letting you get so hungry.”

Although dragons are accustomed to controlling their young’s food intake, seeing his child so starved, Lacia could no longer care about such habits.

He decided to get her something good to eat.

Before leaving, the little dragon didn’t forget to turn back and call to the confused souls, “Qi! Qi!” Goodbye.

Lacia couldn’t bear to have his child stay in this place any longer, so he took her and crossed the membrane back to the human world.

However, as soon as they passed through the membrane, the little dragon, who had been curled up on his body, suddenly became limp and slid down.

Her magical power erupted violently, and her long dragon body transformed, eventually becoming a little girl who appeared to be only three years old.

Young dragons generally maintain their dragon forms during infancy, only transforming into human form once their magical powers stabilize as they grow older.

The little dragon’s overindulgence caused her magical power to burst, forcing an early transformation. However, her transformation was incomplete—she still had a dragon tail trailing behind her.
