Slacker Second Gen C17
by MarineTLChapter 17: School Tyrant 17
After attending a banquet at home, Yu Qian’s identity had been fully established. She had become a wealthy woman, a two-year-old wealthy woman at that.
The wealthy little Qian was woken up early by her father today.
Zai Ye had to go to school, and before he did, he needed to drop the child off at the Skyhigh Game Lounge. Therefore, Yu Qian had to get up with him. Waking up early was the enemy of all teenagers and children.
Zai Ye stood in front of the sink brushing his teeth, his face expressionless, his whole body filled with the frustration of not having enough sleep. Yu Qian, with a face that was a smaller version of his, was also sleepily brushing her teeth, squinting her eyes. She would move her toothbrush a couple of times and then stop.
Zai Ye stepped on the edge of a small stool and used his leg to serve as a backrest for the child, preventing her from falling backward. He supported her chin with one hand and noticed that she wasn’t brushing her teeth properly and was about to fall asleep. Without hesitation, he shook her chubby little chin to wake her up.
Yu Qian woke up, her eyes half-closed, slowly continuing to brush her teeth. Zai Ye had already washed his face, and seeing that she was still brushing, he urged her on. He took her towel, dampened it, and quickly wiped her face clean. After the process, Yu Qian was still half-asleep with her eyes still closed, and in the end, Zai Ye carried her to the dining table.
Aunt Wu had already prepared breakfast. Yu Qian nibbled on a little pig bun, chewing slowly in a daze. Across from her was her young, healthy, and hungry father, who devoured one bun after another… and he was also eating the cute little pig buns made for children.
Seeing Yu Qian’s obvious sleep deprivation, Aunt Wu felt a little sorry for her. “Little Qian is still so young, she doesn’t need to wake up this early. Let her sleep a little longer.”
Zai Ye replied, “No, waking up early is good for the body.”
Of course, that wasn’t the truth. He just had to get up early for school, and when he saw this little rascal, who had disturbed his sleep, peacefully sleeping while he struggled, it made him uncomfortable.
After the exhausted high school student left, Yu Qian became a free little pig. She ate when she wanted, slept when she wanted, and Zai Ye couldn’t control her anymore!
After the banquet at home, Li Xiu’s Skyhigh Game Lounge once again received many young ladies.
The older girls, with free time, would come to see Yu Qian. Some of them were shopping nearby, and when they got tired, knowing that Yu Qian was close by, they would drop by to rest and play with her.
Since they were shopping, they often brought back a lot of things, some of which were for Yu Qian. They would think of buying things for her when they saw something suitable for kids in the mall. Gradually, this became a habit.
The older sisters often brought Yu Qian delicious snacks. Though she couldn’t eat everything, she could still wear the pretty little clothes they bought for her.
Yu Qian wasn’t a crying child and wasn’t shy either. It all started when one of the older sisters bought her a little outfit that was similar to her own, hoping to see how it would look on Yu Qian. After taking a set of parent-child photos, the other young girls gradually came together, and it evolved into a real-life doll dress-up game.
Zai Ye, who had dropped off a simple little child in the morning, saw a completely different sight in the afternoon when he picked her up. She had been transformed, now wearing a beautiful little dress, little socks, little shoes, and even her hair was tied up with cute accessories. She was a fragrant little child.
Although Zai Ye was a responsible father, as a straight-laced high school boy with poor aesthetic sense, he wasn’t good at dressing up children.
Looking at his little fairy-like daughter, Zai Ye took out his phone and snapped several photos of her, then decisively posted them in his moments where only he could see them.
He had always been a cold and aloof person, with very few contacts in his phone. However, recently, he had inexplicably gained many new contacts, and his moments had become quite lively.
After posting that moment visible only to him, he refreshed the page and saw an unfamiliar older sister had posted several pictures of herself and Yu Qian in matching outfits with the caption “Parent-child outfits.” Not only that, but there was also a comment below.
Zai Ye felt speechless and rare in his life, commenting under her post, “My daughter and you are wearing parent-child outfits? Delete it.”
Before long, several people commented on his post.
“You’re in a rush, aren’t you? I’m not deleting it.”
“Are you jealous?”
“How pitiful, he’s never worn parent-child outfits with little Qian.”
Zai Ye: “…”
He picked up Yu Qian and asked her, “Did you let them change your clothes for you? If they try again next time, you need to throw a tantrum, cry, understand?”
Yu Qian, not fully understanding, repeated, “Cry!”
Zai Ye smiled in satisfaction. “Right, when they tease you and ask you to do something, you just cry.”
He couldn’t stand these annoying people coming over to play with his daughter.
On their way, he taught his daughter how to be a spoiled little brat, refusing to please others. Passing by a street stall, the child’s attention was caught by the sizzling meat and potatoes being sold.
Yu Qian pointed at the sizzling meat and potato skewers, which smelled so good. “Eat that.”
Zai Ye replied, “No, children can’t eat this.”
Yu Qian looked at him and repeated, “Eat.”
Zai Ye replied, “You can’t eat it.”
The little girl tilted her head back and cried loudly.
Zai Ye’s face darkened. “I told you to cry at them, not at me!”
In a certain sense, he had been quite successful in teaching her.
In the end, Zai Ye ended up holding a skewer of grilled meat and potatoes, eating the meat while only letting the child nibble on two potatoes. The potatoes seasoned with cumin weren’t as tasty as the meat, but the child was satisfied.
She was satisfied, but that evening, she had a stomach ache from the street food, which worried Zai Ye so much that he took her to the doctor, got medicine, and endured a long night.
She kept tossing and turning and groaning in pain while sleeping, unable to rest well. Zai Ye spent the whole night holding her and walking around the house. He had circled every corner of the house several times.
He hadn’t slept well the whole night and had to massage her belly and prepare her medicine, waking up at every little noise. It wasn’t until just before dawn that he finally fell asleep.
Before falling asleep, Zai Ye pinched her little face, growling, “Next time, don’t even think about eating street snacks!”
With that, he collapsed, motionless on the bed.
Because he was so exhausted the night before, he didn’t go to school the next day. He slept until it was broad daylight, only to be woken up by the child.
The child, who was no longer feeling unwell from last night’s stomach ache, was wearing pajamas and had her hair all messy, riding on his back, grabbing his hair and persistently calling his name: “Daddy, daddy.”
“I’m hungry, daddy.”
Zai Ye groaned painfully. For him, a sleepless night wasn’t tiring; he once played games for two straight days without sleeping and still felt fine. But having a sick child was different. He felt anxious and on edge, and after just one night, he was so exhausted he didn’t want to get up.
Slowly sitting up, the child on his back was lifted, calling out a short “Ah!” and then laughing, still shaking on his back as if she were riding the rocking horse at Skyhigh Game Lounge.
Zai Ye deliberately shifted to one side, and the child tumbled off and landed on the bed, her legs up in the air.
“Ha ha ha!” She laughed even louder, thinking that he was playing with her on purpose.
Zai Ye grabbed a handful of his hair, his face darkened, “You’re still laughing?”
The child laughed even harder.
Feeling utterly exhausted, Zai Ye finally got out of bed and ghosted into the bathroom. He sat on the toilet, using the brief moment to empty his mind. A minute later, he heard the child scratching at the door, followed by the sound of the doorknob turning. He quickly remembered if he had locked the door.
“Are you a cat? Why are you scratching at the door!” he yelled.
“Daddy, I’m hungry,” the child urged from outside.
At that moment, Zai Ye couldn’t help but think of his own father, Yan. Every time he spoke to Yan, it probably felt just as painful for him.
Raising a child, other people’s children always seem to be the cutest. After all, they only play with them occasionally and don’t have to take responsibility. But for parents who have to deal with most of their child’s troublesome moments, it’s especially tough. Recently, Zai Ye felt like he was about to fall in love with school again, as school was so much easier.
The bad thing was, summer vacation was approaching, and soon he would have to take care of the child all day long.
This was the summer before his senior year in high school. After the summer break, he would be entering his final year. For most students, this was the last bit of carefree time.
Last year’s summer break, Zai Ye took his little brothers around Ning Shui, fighting with people, racing mountain trails, even having barbecues and swimming at the beach in the middle of the night… life was full of excitement.
This year, when his little brother eagerly asked what they would do for the summer, Zai Ye leaned back by the window, holding a book over his face.
His little brother, not understanding, called out, “Ye Ge?”
He only saw Zai Ye’s face covered by the book, unmoving, looking like he was dead.
With summer break approaching, Zai Ye, wearing his shoulder bag, walked out of the school slowly.
A large red car pulled up beside him, and the window rolled down to reveal a beautifully made-up face.
“Zai Ye, just in time, I’ve brought a gift for little Qian. I was going to deliver it to Skyhigh Game Lounge, but something came up, so you can take it for me.”
This young lady, Zai Ye wasn’t very familiar with her before, but now, she was probably more familiar with Yu Qian.
His daughter often received gifts, and Zai Ye had already gotten used to it, since no matter how much he refused, they never listened.
“What is it…” Zai Ye said impatiently halfway through, but when he saw a big bear head coming out of the car window, “…”
A two-meter tall teddy bear was pushed out, leaning softly against Zai Ye. The young lady quickly rolled up the window and drove off, not even giving him a chance to return the bear.
This was near the school gate, with many classmates around. Zai Ye was holding the giant teddy bear, and everyone’s eyes were on him.
“Such a big bear! Who is that?”
“I think… he’s in second year…”
Zai Ye really wanted to throw it away.
He stared at the bear’s round, dark eyes and held back his frustration. In the end, he still took it with him.
Though his posture and expression seemed cold, he could still hear passersby saying, “Wow, the bear is so cute!”
