    Chapter 121: The Doomsday Martyr – 4

The two of them were currently arguing until they were red in the face over a single steamed bun.

“Xie Mingyi, are you even a man? Didn’t we agree before that half each was the only fair way? You actually tried to keep it all for yourself. Are you even human?”

Xie Mingyi spoke with disdain, “Do you think everyone is a fool like Ren Xin? That everyone has to look after you? Look at the state of the world now. People can barely save themselves, yet you’re still talking about fairness. Have you gone senile too?”

Ren Yi began cursing at the top of her lungs, disrupting the peace. The security team came out to stop them, but there was no persuasion involved, only meeting violence with violence. The security team beat the two of them up first and then tossed them into a random corner. It was that brutal.

Then again, it was the apocalypse. There was no such thing as humane law enforcement anymore.

Ren Xin looked at their bruised and swollen faces as they continued to hurl insults at one another. She felt the knot of frustration in her chest finally unravel.

It really took a wicked person to torment another wicked person. A pure and noble ginseng like her simply couldn’t bring herself to do something as low as seeking petty revenge.

Book Spirit Number One: “!!!” The stench of her narcissism was unbearable.

Everything was for sale on the Ghost Street, but food was the rarest commodity. The most common items were luxury goods like jade and gold. These were the items that the “canaries” were most interested in. Many men and women were buying them, spending lavishly.

After all, the business of serving others with one’s beauty didn’t discriminate between genders.

She began to wonder if she should keep a canary of her own for fun.

Book Spirit Number One agreed fervently, saying earnestly, “Once you have a plaything, you won’t be able to play with me anymore, okay?”

Ren Xin made up her mind and found a place that looked like a brothel, thinking she would go see what the world had to offer.

As soon as she walked in, she was shocked by the simple, crude decor. If she hadn’t seen the heaven-defying beauty of the men and women inside, she would have thought she was at a recycling center.

Ren Xin looked at one and liked him, then looked at another and thought she was beautiful. She really couldn’t decide which one to sponsor.

That was, until she saw a man sitting on a sofa drinking water. His looks and physique were enough to make even a ginseng jealous.

Ren Xin had only one thought: she had to ruin him.

    “You… yeah, you… how much?”

The man’s dark eyes turned toward Ren Xin. He pointed a finger at himself and asked uncertainly, “Me?”

Ren Xin nodded confidently. “Yes. Name a price. Let’s see how long I can afford to keep you.”

The man smiled, and Ren Xin’s knees went weak.

He stood up, and the people around him instinctively cleared a path for him.

The man slowly walked toward Ren Xin until there was zero distance between them. He leaned down and whispered into her ear, “I’m very expensive. Do you want to try me out first?”

She could actually take him for a test drive?

She had to take advantage of this deal!

    “Do you support a seven-day no-questions-asked return policy1?”

With a hint of a smile in his eyes, the man nodded. “Payment only after you’re satisfied. You’re the only one who gets this privilege.”

Ren Xin thought about it for a moment. “Forget it, I’m not interested. Cheap goods are never high quality. You must have a defect somewhere.”

Ren Xin transformed into a “clear-headed ginseng,” turned around, and left cold-heartedly.

She left the man standing there with a look of shock and disbelief. Was he… just rejected?

Book Spirit Number One babbled, “Host, you’re practically Justice Bao2 the Ginseng! You’re so perceptive. A promotional tactic like that couldn’t fool you at all.”

Ren Xin said smugly, “I saw through it long ago. A man that good-looking is obviously a top-tier attraction, like a courtesan king. That whole free trial thing is just a gimmick. When the time comes and the product doesn’t match the advertisement, I’d be stuck with him.”

    “Host, you’re so mighty, mwah!”

Ren Xin puffed out her chest and continued her lecture, “Learn from this. I’ve lived a long time and seen a lot. No one can escape my discerning eyes!”

Right, right, right. Whatever the old fossil says is right.
