Chapter 153: The Bootlicking Immortal Lord Who Wants to Live Off a Woman.19

When Su Mingyue saw that the Sect Leader didn’t believe her, she doubled down, speaking with even more conviction. “It’s true! If you don’t believe me, ask Cui Cui.”

Cui Cui’s mouth twitched. Where did Senior Sister get this confidence from? This was only their first meeting, and yet she was already so sure of herself…

In her opinion, the Sect Leader’s reaction was the normal one. After all, it seemed like the Ancestral Master only spoke kindly to Senior Sister.

But at a time like this, when life and death hung in the balance, she didn’t dare say a word…

She had no desire whatsoever to receive the Sect Leader and Master’s “loving guidance,” so Cui Cui could only go against her conscience and nod firmly. “Senior Sister is right.”

Sect Master Xia believed Ning Cui’s nonsense. He figured maybe the Ancestral Master was just a bit more lenient with female disciples.

Looked at that way, the Ancestral Master was actually quite gracious.

“Alright, alright. Then the future of the sect is in your hands.”

Sect Master Xia looked at Su Mingyue with a fond gaze. Whose daughter was this? So beautiful, like a little fairy. Pretty and kind-hearted.

Elder Su shot a quick glance at Sect Master Xia. That was his daughter.

And now this guy wanted to hog all the benefits for himself?

The moment their eyes met, Sect Master Xia gave him an awkward smile.

    Elder Su said, “Seventy-thirty.”

    Sect Master Xia glared. “Fifty-fifty!”

Elder Su’s face was blank. “Sixty-forty.”

Sect Master Xia knew when to quit. He smiled obsequiously. “Sixty-forty it is. No need to be so fierce.”

Su Mingyue looked at the two of them, completely confused by their cryptic exchange.

After a moment, she pointed again at the half-eaten fruit. “If you guys don’t mind, why not split the rest of this fruit?”

    It’d be such a waste otherwise—what a pity.

Just thinking about that sweet, fragrant taste made Su Mingyue lick her lips. “It’s really delicious.”

“Mhm, super tasty!” Ning Cui nodded in agreement.

Elder Su subconsciously licked his lips along with his daughter. He had never tasted a spirit fruit before.

He was really curious—what exactly did it taste like?

Besides, the fruit had already been bitten into. Even if they didn’t eat it, the Spiritual Energy would dissipate soon enough.

Unless they refined it into a pill right now… but since Mingyue said there were more in the future, he couldn’t help but feel a tiny bit tempted to try it.

Elder Su said softly, “Shall we split it?”

Sect Master Xia gritted his teeth. “Let’s split it!”

Why were they acting so cautious? Like they weren’t curious too.

Without another word, the two of them cleanly split the spirit fruit in half.

Neither of them minded the bite marks. They quickly popped the fruit into their mouths.

Sure enough, that unique flavor exploded on their taste buds—it really was delicious.

Sect Master Xia felt the Spiritual Energy surging through his body and sighed. “This is some good stuff. Eating this is way faster than cultivating.”

Elder Su echoed his sentiment. “Yeah, too bad we don’t have the resources…”

He looked at his daughter with emotion. “Such a tasty fruit—you guys must’ve eaten quite a few today, huh?”

Su Mingyue nodded, patting her belly a little sheepishly. “I ate so much I’m stuffed.”

    Elder Su: “…”

    Sect Master Xia: “…”

“Stuffed?” Elder Su said expressionlessly, “What exactly did you do there today? Just ate fruit?”

Su Mingyue patted her stomach and thought for a moment. “I think I cleaned for about fifteen minutes, then ate a bellyful of fruit and came back…”

    Elder Su: “…”

    Sect Master Xia: “…”

Ancestral Master, they weren’t asking for much—couldn’t you spoil them just once too?

It wasn’t that they were greedy. They just wanted to experience what it felt like to eat spirit fruit until they were full.

As the two of them were still savoring the lingering sweetness in their mouths, a disciple burst in, shouting, “Sect Leader! Something’s happened!”

Sect Master Xia jumped. What now?

This day had been one surprise after another.

To understand what happened, we have to go back two hours earlier. Wang Gang had been cultivating, but his progress was slow. Feeling discouraged, he sat down at his table and took a sip of water.

He looked longingly toward the Inner Sect. With his current pace, he figured he’d never make it there in this lifetime.

The thought of spending his whole life stuck in the Outer Sect filled him with frustration. But what could he do? Which Outer Sect disciple didn’t dream of moving up? In the end, they all ended up the same.

As he shook his head and sighed, his eyes landed on the porcelain bottle by his bed—the one Shen Xiu had given him yesterday.

Supposedly, the medicinal pill inside could speed up cultivation.

But Shen Xiu hadn’t sounded too certain, and Wang Gang hadn’t dared to take it right away.

    What if something went wrong?

But now, his uncertainty was pushing him to take a gamble.

He walked over, picked up the porcelain bottle, poured out the pill, and swallowed it. His expression was solemn, like a man making a desperate last stand.

The moment the pill entered his mouth, Wang Gang’s eyes widened. This pill tasted nothing like the others he’d had before—it was unusually fragrant and sweet.

He quickly sat cross-legged on the bed and began to meditate.

Moments later, his body began to tremble slightly, and beads of sweat formed on his forehead.

His eyes squeezed shut as a surge of Spiritual Energy erupted from his body.

The Outer Sect disciples felt it immediately. They looked around in confusion—was someone breaking through?

The Outer Sect steward rushed over at once. Something felt very wrong.

After all, these Outer Sect disciples were the ones who had been weeded out.

Most of them would spend their entire lives stuck in the Qi Refining Stage. Maybe once in a hundred years, one or two might break through to Foundation Establishment.

And that was usually because the sect had misjudged them—many of these disciples had latent bloodline suppressions.

The steward was sure someone had broken through today, but this felt different—much more intense than anything he’d experienced before.

He hurried to Wang Gang’s door and knocked. “Wang Gang, are you in there? What’s going on?”

But there was no response from inside. The steward quickly pushed the door open.

And saw Wang Gang collapsed on the bed.

He examined Wang Gang and was shocked to discover that the man had already reached the Late Stage of Foundation Establishment. The only reason he had fainted was because his body couldn’t handle the sudden surge of spiritual energy.

Wang Gang’s transformation was nothing short of astonishing—so much so that the Outer Sect Steward feared he might have used some forbidden technique and strayed down a dangerous path.

Without hesitation, he sealed off Wang Gang’s room and sent a disciple to summon the Sect Leader.
