Chapter 9: Entertainment Industry Female Paparazzi 9

This web drama was a hit even before airing, but not for the right reasons. Gu Pan’an and Mu Feng met with their respective managers to figure out if they had offended someone to deserve this streak of bad luck.

Gu Pan’an, with a cold face and a nonchalant tone, said, “Hire some trolls to post good reviews. If it’s about money, I’m not worried.”

Mu Feng pouted unhappily, “Are these people sick? What do fans’ actions have to do with us? We’re so innocent.”

Gu Pan’an’s manager sighed, “This is how the entertainment industry works. Fans are uncontrollable. We enjoy their support, but we also have to bear the consequences of their actions. I think the priority now is to calm them down. If necessary, solidify our CP (couple pairing) and create the illusion that we are an actual couple. After all, we are sharing a brand endorsement. Fans would buy it. Also, bring Chen Ruwei into the mix and make it a love triangle. This way, we can go on the offensive or defensive as needed. She probably won’t refuse—partnering with Emperor Gu is a great career move for her.”

Everyone agreed to this suggestion. After all, being ambiguous in handling such situations was standard practice for celebrities.

Mu Feng shot an unhappy glance at Gu Pan’an, who smiled slightly and coaxed him in a soft voice. The two managers left the room to discuss strategies, giving them some space.

The two were still bickering, unaware that a huge scandal was about to drop.

Gu Pan’an’s manager acted quickly, and soon CP fans flooded the internet with support. The popularity of the “Ancient Tomb CP” skyrocketed.

Meanwhile, Ren Xin didn’t screen fans joining the CP’s support group, resulting in a mix of members with varying levels of decorum. Some IDs even looked suspiciously familiar—possibly stalker fans.

    This would be fun.

Sugar-coated stories about the couple spread everywhere. B-brand, their sponsor, also joined in, buying promotional spots and claiming that the sugar was genuine.

Their facial masks dominated the market for a while. Although some questioned the product’s ingredients, the concerns were quickly suppressed. Gu Pan’an and Mu Feng, seemingly out of trust in foreign brands, publicly stated that they were using the masks themselves and hadn’t encountered any issues.

Ren Xin smiled. The time was ripe. Let the chaos begin!

An hour later, the Gossip King posted on Weibo:

[“The trending B-brand facial masks have some highly controversial ingredient issues. After thorough investigation, I can confirm the presence of carcinogens. Evidence is attached. Moreover, the brand’s representatives have shown a poor attitude, with remarks belittling Chinese consumers. They’re taking our money while insulting us as fools. Some celebrities also need to reflect on their ethics. Don’t blindly praise foreign products and ignore the truth. Know your boundaries.”]

The evidence was clear and came from a state-certified testing agency. It thoroughly pinned down the brand, Gu Pan’an, and Mu Feng, leaving no room for defense.

While this might not ruin Gu Pan’an and Mu Feng entirely, it would cause significant damage. As for the brand? They could disappear for all anyone cared.

At this moment, Ren Xin basked in the glory of justice.

Gu Pan’an’s management company quickly issued a clarification, claiming they, too, were deceived. They blamed the managers for being careless in vetting the endorsement deal and promised to be more cautious in the future. Essentially, they painted the idols as innocent while shifting all responsibility onto the staff.

    This move disgusted Ren Xin.

Switching to her CP account, she posted sarcastically:
[“What did our Tomb CP do wrong? Didn’t the ‘Flowing Silk CP’ also face endorsement issues? What happened there? Nothing. Also, who actually uses the masks they buy? We’re supporting our idols, not looking for results. You commoners, why are you even making a fuss?”]

Her fire-stoking was on point. The rest was up to the brainless fans.

“Our idols are victims too. What’s there to explain?”

“Exactly. They endorse so many things—it’s just a business partnership. Do they have to test every product themselves? Don’t you have money? Are you struggling over a 100-yuan mask?”

“Support your own CP and stop tearing others down. Such disgusting fan behavior!”

Ren Xin laughed. These so-called “allies” were the perfect chaos-bringers, causing the drama to escalate even further.
