Chapter 181: The Bootlicking Immortal Lord Who Wants to Live Off a Woman (Part 47)

A low hum echoed in their ears, and the grass beneath their feet trembled slightly.

The Secret Realm had closed once again, marking the official end of their three-day expedition.

As soon as they stepped out of the Secret Realm, the disciples were immediately met with the warm, expectant gazes of their elders.

In small groups, the elders approached their most promising disciples and asked, “Did you manage to find any treasures?”

One young disciple grinned from ear to ear, his little tiger teeth peeking out as he beamed.

“Master, Master! I found a high-grade magic tool!”

“What?!” His master was stunned. “Were you hurt?”

“No, no! The Secret Realm was calm—nothing happened at all.”

The master clapped the boy’s back with loud thuds, his face glowing with joy and unmistakable envy.

“That’s great! You’re one lucky kid. I’ve been in there twice and never found anything close to a high-grade magic tool.”

“Hehe, right? I think I was the only one who found something. But Master, don’t be jealous—I’m giving it to you as a gift.”

“Not bad, not bad. It warms my heart that you think of your master like this. But how could I take your treasure? Keep it for yourself.”

    “Master, you’re the best!”

Not far from them, in a quieter corner, the Second Elder had also found Chu Suxing.

He questioned him closely about what had happened inside the Secret Realm.

    “Suxing, did you discover anything?”

Chu Suxing’s lips trembled slightly before he replied, a bit dejected, “I found an ancient inheritance… but in the end, I came back empty-handed.”

“What?! You really found an ancient inheritance?” The Second Elder could hardly believe it.

“I did,” Chu Suxing said with certainty. “Fairy Mei Lan and Lin Qifan were there too, but from what I saw, none of us managed to obtain the inheritance.”

“Hiss… That’s still good news. We’ve gone in several times and never found any sign of an inheritance. Since you’ve discovered it, there will be more chances in the future. Don’t lose heart.” The Second Elder patted his shoulder. “If ancient inheritances were easy to get, they wouldn’t be called ancient inheritances.”

Chu Suxing felt a little better, but he was still sulking. He muttered, “It’s all Ruan Xi’er’s fault. We didn’t have to waste time chasing that inheritance. We could’ve used that time to explore outside. But she went crazy and shouted, drawing everyone over. We had no choice but to go in.”

He conveniently forgot that it was he himself who had fought Lin Qifan for a spot in the trial in the first place.

The Second Elder frowned deeply. “Is that true?”

“Everyone who went in can testify.”

“Jinx. She really is a jinx. The Sect Leader was right—sometimes you have to let go to gain. Keeping someone like her around is like holding a lit firecracker. You never know when it’ll blow. Don’t worry, this time I won’t go easy on her. I’ll deal with her properly.”

Though Chu Suxing had spent some time with Ruan Xi’er and developed some feelings, he hesitated before saying, “Master, Ruan Xi’er may have made mistakes, but she doesn’t deserve to die. Just destroy her Immortal Bone and send her back to the Lower Realm.”

“Sigh… Fine, I’ll give you some face,” the Second Elder said with a sigh.

And just like that, with a few casual words, they decided Ruan Xi’er’s fate.

But what they didn’t know was that not far away, Ruan Xi’er had heard every word they said.

A voice, tinged with a sinister undertone, echoed in her mind.

“See? I told you. You spared them, but they want you dead.”

“No… no, that’s not true…” Ruan Xi’er turned and ran into the woods, shaking her head wildly.

“Right, they won’t kill you. They’ll just destroy your Immortal Bone and toss you back to the Lower Realm. Isn’t that worse than death? Hahahaha! At this point, I don’t know what you’re still clinging to.”

The voice stabbed at her heart, and she couldn’t hold back anymore. She curled up and sobbed.

Why? Why did it come to this?

    What did she do wrong?

It wasn’t her fault—so why was she the one to suffer in the end?

It seemed that Ruan Xi’er and Chu Suxing really were cut from the same cloth—both stubborn to the bone, never admitting fault.

“If they’re heartless, then don’t blame us for being ruthless. Let me out—I’ll take revenge for you.”

Ruan Xi’er looked bewitched, her eyes glowing with an eerie red light.

She murmured, “Let you out… you’ll avenge me…”

“Yes, yes. While all those who wronged you are still here, let’s settle the score. If you wait, you might never get another chance.”

Ruan Xi’er kept muttering, “No more chances… no more chances…”

“Come on, hurry and release me.”

    “Let’s go… let’s go…”

Like a puppet on strings, Ruan Xi’er moved as if possessed, heading straight for the Cliff of Contemplation behind the mountain.

Her pace quickened with every step, until finally, she seemed to snap out of it. She summoned her magic treasure and soared into the sky, flying straight toward the Cliff of Contemplation.

At that moment, everyone in the sect was gathered at the Grand Competition grounds. No one noticed her strange behavior.

Otherwise, anyone who saw her laughing maniacally atop her magic treasure would have stopped her immediately.

And so, Ruan Xi’er arrived at the Cliff of Contemplation without a single obstacle.

The Cliff of Contemplation was a place reserved for Wu Nian Sect disciples who had committed grave offenses. It was a place where spiritual energy raged year-round, and the winds were cold and eerie.

It was, without a doubt, the most feared place in the entire sect.

At least, until Ruan Xi’er’s transgression, no one had been sent there in over fifty years.

That was how terrifying the Cliff of Contemplation was.

When Ruan Xi’er entered, she was completely unable to withstand the violent spiritual energy. The atmosphere tormented her to the point where she wished for death.

After several days of agony, her mind clouded by pain, she leapt off the cliff.

But the moment she jumped, she regretted it.

Frantically, she summoned the last of her spiritual energy to steady herself mid-air.

Fortunately, fate wasn’t done with her yet. Battered and barely conscious, she crashed onto a ledge halfway down the cliff.

The raging Spiritual Energy on this platform had calmed significantly, giving her tortured body a brief moment of respite. After catching her breath, Ruan Xi’er was overjoyed—this place was far more bearable than the one above.

She glanced up at the towering Cliff of Contemplation that pierced the clouds. Since no one was coming to check on her anyway, she figured, why bother climbing back up? She might as well stay here until time was up. At least down here, she could endure it.
