Chapter 126: Educated Youth Who Abandoned His Wife and Child – 58

Shen Xiuyan tugged at the furious Wang Hua. “That’s enough, okay? Any more and you’re going too far. I’m not that precious…”

Wang Hua turned his head with a fawning smile. “This won’t delay progress, right?”

Shen Xiuyan was speechless. “No, it won’t.”

Ever since the stealth fighter project entered its final stages, Wang Hua had been wound up tight.

Until it was finished, he was on a hair trigger, lashing out at anything or anyone that might slow them down.

Of course, he wasn’t the only one. Everyone at the research institute was on edge.

Originally, the institute hadn’t wanted to let Shen Xiuyan leave today. But he was just too damn capable—he’d already finished everything he needed to do. Staying there would’ve just meant supervising others, which felt like a waste. So they figured it was better to let him get out and clear his head.

Coincidentally, the Western-style villas he’d picked out had just been renovated. Shen Xiuyan wanted to bring his brother along and surprise their parents.

Wang Hua had planned to come here today anyway to confirm some production details. When he heard Shen Xiuyan was coming too, he naturally took it upon himself to act as his bodyguard.

Which led to the scene just now.

The factory manager sensed something was off. Without asking a single question, he raised his hand and smacked Supervisor Jia on the back of the head.

“Apologize! What the hell did you do to upset Teacher Shen?!”

Supervisor Jia rubbed the back of his head in confusion. “Brother-in-law, you… you hit me?”

The factory manager shot him a glare. This troublemaker actually had the nerve to act wronged?

Seeing the darkening expression on his brother-in-law’s face, Supervisor Jia realized he might be in serious trouble.

Though reluctant, he finally squeezed out a grudging, “Sorry…” through clenched teeth.

But that half-hearted apology didn’t sit well with Wang Hua.

What the hell? He’s apologizing to Teacher Shen and still acting like he’s been wronged?

Wang Hua snorted coldly. “Forget it. We’re not accepting such a perfunctory apology.”

The factory manager’s forehead veins bulged in fury. He raised his hand and gave Supervisor Jia a few more smacks.

Supervisor Jia cried out in pain. “I’m sorry!”

Shen Xiuyan chuckled lightly. “I don’t accept it. manager, maybe you should ask what actually happened first?”

Hearing that, the factory manager knew this wasn’t something an apology could fix.

His temper flared. He kicked Supervisor Jia hard. “Spit it out! Tell me exactly what happened!”

After getting hit repeatedly, Supervisor Jia was furious too.

He glanced at the people in front of him, then decided not to save face for his brother-in-law. He spilled everything in one go.

You were the one who betrayed me first—don’t blame me for dragging you down with me. Otherwise, it’ll look like it was all my fault.

They had agreed on this beforehand.

To speed up production, they’d decided that as long as the product didn’t break before being sold, it was good enough.

That way, the factory could earn national recognition for labor achievements and make more money.

As soon as Supervisor Jia finished speaking, everyone’s face went dark.

Was that something you could just say out loud?!

Did he have no brain at all?

Then again, if he had any brains, he wouldn’t have pissed off Shen Xiuyan today.

A low, guttural voice came from the factory manager’s throat. “Do you even know who you were talking to? That’s Shen Xiuyan—Teacher Shen—the developer of the Color TV, you idiot…”

    Supervisor Jia: “…”

    His mind went blank.

What? This Shen Xiuyan… is that Shen Xiuyan???

It felt like someone had dumped a bucket of ice water over him. Even his brain cooled down a bit.

What the hell had he done today…

“Brother-in-law, I just got back today. You didn’t even tell me they were here…”

He shuffled behind the factory manager, head hanging low, all his earlier arrogance gone.

“Tell you? Tell you what?! Can’t you use your damn brain?!” The factory manager was livid. This idiot was going to be the death of him…

Wang Hua, arms crossed, said coldly after hearing the whole story, “I really didn’t expect manager Dai to have such ‘talent.’ The state trusted you enough to let your factory participate in the production of Color TVs, and what do you do? The products haven’t even hit the market yet, and you’re already thinking this far ahead.”

manager Dai was sweating bullets, frantically trying to think of a way out. After a moment, he forced out, “It was all him acting on his own. He’s slandering me. Please, you have to believe me.”

“Tsk tsk.” Wang Hua gave him a mocking look. “Sure, keep spinning your tale. He’s your brother-in-law, and you’re saying he’s slandering you? Looks to me like he’s riding high on your authority.”

manager Dai wiped the sweat from his forehead. “No, no, it’s all my fault. Everything is my fault. I wasn’t paying attention, and that’s how he made such a huge mistake. I’ll deal with him right away.”

“Hmph. Too late.” Shen Xiuyan smiled faintly. That beautiful face now looked like a demon’s in manager Dai’s eyes.

Wang Hua turned, waiting for Shen Xiuyan to speak.

Shen Xiuyan said, “He dared to cut corners on product quality. That affects my reputation. People will think I’m the one with poor R&D skills, that the defects are my fault, and then they’ll start blaming me for it. Ugh, just thinking about it makes me not want to do research anymore.”

    Wang Hua: “!!!”

No way. They couldn’t let anything affect Teacher Shen’s passion for research!

And what he said made perfect sense. Product quality had to be strictly enforced!

People like manager Dai and Supervisor Jia were rotten apples that needed to be dealt with seriously. Only by making an example of them could other factories understand the gravity of the situation.

Fortunately, the factories were all state-run now. Doing something like this behind the scenes had already crossed a serious line.

Wang Hua decided he’d report this immediately. Coldly, he thought—it’s time for a change of leadership.

manager Dai still tried to salvage the situation. He forced a smile and said, “We won’t dare do it again. Please, just give me one more chance. From now on, we’ll follow your directives to the letter. We’ll never compromise on product quality again.”

Wang Hua shook his head, then said lightly, “Too late. manager Dai, you and your brother-in-law should leave for now. Wait for instructions from above.”

manager Dai’s face turned ashen. Wait for instructions? Judging by Wang Hua’s tone, that meant punishment.

    He was finished.

After decades of hard work, finally making it to factory manager, and now this idiot had ruined everything.

Seeing the two men frozen in place, Wang Hua gestured with his hand. “Please. Don’t make me drag this out and make an even bigger scene.”

manager Dai wasn’t ready to give up just yet. He tried to approach Shen Xiuyan to plead for mercy. He knew who really held the power here—if Shen Xiuyan was willing to forgive him, there might still be room to negotiate.

But before he could even touch Shen Xiuyan’s sleeve, Wang Hua, who had been watching him like a hawk, stepped in to block him.

Wang Hua frowned. “What do you think you’re doing? Getting handsy now? Trying to retaliate? Security! Don’t just stand there—get them out of here!”

The security guards looked at each other, then sprang into action. They rushed forward and dragged manager Dai and Supervisor Jia out.
