Chapter 11: Pure Love War Goddess Luo Shanshan

All afternoon, Jiang the Cripple’s old face was flushed red.

It wasn’t until school was about to end that her complexion finally returned to normal.

    Non-mainstream. Shamate.

Damn it, this was one of the few black marks in her life.

If she could, she’d really want to get rid of everyone who knew about it!

    Ah!
    Just die, all of you!!

Jiang Ning’s annoyed expression and the small movements of her hands were all caught by her deskmate, Luo Shanshan.

    At this moment—

Luo Shanshan just found her deskmate in front of her utterly adorable.

    She couldn’t help but ask,
“Jiang Ning, can I call you Jiang Jiang?”

    Jiang Jiang?

Jiang Ning tilted her head in confusion.

“Because the way you look right now really resembles a piece of ginger that’s been rolled in oil—fragrant, spicy, and absolutely adorable!”

    ???

Jiang Ning struggled to keep up with her old classmate’s train of thought. Or rather, she didn’t quite understand how girls thought.

But—A name was just a label. Jiang Jiang, delinquent girl, Jiang Ning—they could call her whatever they wanted.

    She shrugged indifferently.

    Soon, school was over.

With a crutch under her arm and Luo Shanshan’s support, Jiang Ning followed the crowd outside.

But just as they reached the hallway exit—

A tall and thin figure blocked their path.

    “Hey, Jiang Ning, Shanshan.”

    A familiar voice…

“Oh? Wang Zekai, what a coincidence.”

Seeing an old classmate, Luo Shanshan grinned and waved.

Jiang Ning nodded as well, and the three of them walked together.

“You’re both in Class 3, right?”

    “I’m in Class 6.”

As Wang Zekai spoke, he instinctively reached out, trying to help Jiang Ning, who wasn’t very steady going downstairs.

But she subtly avoided his touch.

He didn’t seem to mind, straightened his posture, and continued,

“Chen Yang and Ma Yunjie are in my class.”

“Hu Xiaoxia is in Class 4.”

    “As for Tang Bo…”

At this point, Wang Zekai deliberately dragged out his words, then gave Luo Shanshan a teasing look.

Hearing that name, Luo Shanshan’s eyes lit up, and she immediately asked,
“Hurry up and tell me! What class is Tang Bo in?!”

    “Hehehe…”

    Wang Zekai chuckled mischievously.

Which only made Luo Shanshan annoyed.

As the two of them playfully bickered in the stairwell, Jiang Ning’s thoughts drifted away.

Back in junior high, it wasn’t exactly a secret that Luo Shanshan had a crush on Tang Bo.

But she had never openly admitted it—whenever someone asked, she’d always deny it, so everyone just let it be.

At most, people would joke about it like this.

    But Jiang Ning knew—

Luo Shanshan’s feelings had lasted all the way until after they graduated from university. It wasn’t until Tang Bo got together with someone else and prepared for marriage that she finally let go.

As for why she never confessed—honestly, no one knew.

Could it be that Luo Shanshan was the legendary Pure Love War Goddess?

Jiang Ning entertained herself with the thought.

By the time Luo Shanshan found out that Tang Bo was in Class 1, the three of them had already reached the school gate.

Looking at the busy street outside, Wang Zekai suddenly spoke up,

“Jiang Ning, do you want me to walk you home?”

“Oh, no need, my mom’s coming to pick me up.”

As she said this, Jiang Ning lifted her chin and scanned the crowd of parents outside, trying to spot a familiar face.

    “Alright, we’ll head off then.”

Hearing this, Luo Shanshan casually said goodbye and walked toward the bike parking area.

But Wang Zekai seemed a little reluctant. After hesitating for a moment, he asked softly,

“Then… can I call your house tonight?”

    “…Call my house?”

Even though Jiang Ning had more of a guy’s mentality and wasn’t very sharp when it came to relationships, even she understood what he meant by this.

Thinking back to his behavior at the last class reunion—

Jiang Ning narrowed her eyes slightly.

“No need to call. My mom’s home, it wouldn’t be convenient.”

“Besides, we’re not even in the same class. There’s no reason for us to be that close.”

Jiang Ning thought she was being very clear—

She was telling him to give up on her.

    But—

    Wang Zekai’s reaction puzzled her.

After a brief silence, he suddenly smiled and said,
    “Got it.”

Then, without waiting for her to respond, he turned and walked away, looking completely at ease.

    Jiang Ning was left dumbfounded.

She turned to Luo Shanshan, who was still standing nearby, and asked in confusion,

“Shanshan, did you understand what I meant?”

“Yeah, you told him not to bother you.”

    Exactly.

    That’s what she meant.

But then why did that guy…

Seeing Jiang Ning’s puzzled expression, Luo Shanshan couldn’t help but giggle,
“Jiang Jiang, has anyone ever told you that you’re super cute when you look lost?”

Saying this, she reached out as if to touch Jiang Ning’s face.

But the latter leaned back, dodging the attempt.

You little brat, thinking you can just touch my face like that.

Does Old Jiang look like she doesn’t care about her dignity?!

    Jiang Ning looked indignant.

Luo Shanshan didn’t seem to mind her dodging, though. She just grinned and said,

“Honestly, I could tell since the last reunion that our old class rep had a thing for you.”

“But you turned him down flat.”

    “I don’t think he’ll try again.”

    That’s for the best.

Just the thought of a guy having feelings for her made Jiang Ning uncomfortable all over.

That night, after dinner, Jiang Ning climbed into bed, habitually reaching around for her phone.

After a moment, she suddenly remembered something.

She smacked herself in the face and let out a deep sigh.

No phone. No computer. No TV.

How the hell was she supposed to kill time?

No wonder ancient people went home to make babies as soon as it got dark.

They were just bored out of their minds.

With no other choice, Jiang Ning picked up a book and started reading.

But she hadn’t read for long before the house phone started ringing.

    “Riiing! Riiing!”

Jiang Ning was about to pick it up, but then she remembered what Wang Zekai had said earlier.

After hesitating for a moment, she still answered the call.

    “Hello, who is this?”

“Ning Ning, it’s me, Tian Wenhao.” A deep voice came from the receiver.

    “Oh, Cousin, what’s up?”

“Is it convenient for you to talk?”

Hearing this, Jiang Ning immediately knew what her cousin wanted to discuss.

“No worries, my mom’s out playing mahjong.”

Upon hearing this, Tian Wenhao started talking about business.

With school reopening soon, there were more and more students around. They had been keeping the stall open longer, and business was booming.

They weren’t making a fortune, but earning seven or eight hundred a day was no problem.

Under their agreed profit-sharing arrangement, Jiang Ning could stay home and still pocket four to five hundred a day.

Not a huge amount, but steady income was key.

Just when Jiang Ning thought the conversation was wrapping up, Tian Wenhao suddenly lowered his voice and said,

    “I found a shopfront.”
