Chapter 251: The Bed Is Big Enough to Roll However You Like

By the time the two of them stepped out of Miss Jiang’s house, the rain outside had nearly stopped.

The air was thick with the scent of dampness.

Miss Jiang wrinkled her nose at it.

There was still over an hour before school started, and heading there too early seemed pointless.

So she suggested grabbing a bite on the old street.

That suggestion was met with enthusiastic approval from Mature Woman Li, both hands raised in support.

She even gave it a noble-sounding name.

    “Fleecing the rich.”

Miss Jiang rolled her eyes hard at that.

But she didn’t mind picking up the tab—especially since the person she was treating was her…

    Hmm…

    Her main wife.

A short while later, they parked the car in a lot on the edge of the old city.

Just as they stepped out of the car, Miss Jiang noticed the drizzle starting to pick up again.

Not in the mood to wash her hair later, she frowned.

    “Jiang Ning.”

    “Hmm?”

    “Catch.”

She looked up to see Li Mingyu handing her a sky-blue oil-paper umbrella.

    Miss Jiang was taken aback.

“Sister Mingyu, why do you even have something like this in your car?”

“Got it from a client when I was decorating their umbrella shop. The boss gave it to me.”

“Ew, there’s not some love poem hidden inside it, is there?”

    “Get lost.”

The two of them laughed and chatted as they strolled into the ancient alleyways of the city.

This place was different from the old street.

The old street was full of life, bustling with pedestrians coming and going.

But the ancient alleys were quiet and sparsely populated, lined with old buildings.

Everywhere you looked, there were green tiles and moss.

Weathered walls told stories of time.

Every few steps, they passed houses with curved eaves and upturned corners.

The atmosphere was serene, like stepping back in time.

Miss Jiang loved this kind of environment.

Her steps slowed unconsciously as she walked beneath the umbrella.

Just then, a voice pulled her out of her reverie.

    “Jiang Ning.”

    “Huh?”

She blinked and turned around, only to see that at some point, Mature Woman Li had pulled out a camera.

She snapped several shots of her in quick succession.

Even after that, clearly not satisfied, Li pointed at Miss Jiang’s hand.

    “Change your pose.”

“I’m getting my fill of photos today.”

    ???

Since when was this woman into photography?

Miss Jiang rolled her eyes again.

She couldn’t be bothered to humor this sudden whim and continued walking slowly down the stone-paved path on her own.

Before long, they arrived at a small shop called 【Guqiting】.

She pushed open the door and stepped inside.

A glance around showed that the place wasn’t very crowded—mostly elderly folks chatting about family matters.

Miss Jiang tugged on the still-distracted Lady Li, who was admiring the stone lion at the entrance, and pulled her to a corner table.

    They sat down.

“What do you want to eat?”

“I’ve never been here. You decide.”

As she spoke, Mature Woman Li picked up her camera again and started snapping shots of the surroundings and the ceiling.

Seeing this, Miss Jiang snorted softly and walked up to the counter.

Behind it stood a woman in her thirties.

Long hair, big eyes, a beauty mark at the corner of her brow. She didn’t smile much, but her features were soft and full.

    She liked wearing tight jeans.

Just standing there, she exuded a unique charm.

As a frequent visitor in her past life, Miss Jiang knew exactly what the shop’s signature dishes were.

“Boss lady, one kidney noodle soup, one beef noodle soup.”

“And two eggs—make them round. Ahem.”

Her teasing tone was clearly familiar.

    The boss lady looked up.

When she saw that the speaker was a bright, pretty young girl, she was visibly surprised.

Then she gave a flirtatious smile and said,

“Little missy, don’t go picking up bad habits from those stinky men.”

    Ahem, ahem.

What could Old Man Jiang say to that? She could only chuckle sheepishly and pay the bill.

Back at the table, Mature Woman Li was staring out the window at the misty rain, lost in thought.

That pensive look on her face had a charm all its own.

Sensing Miss Jiang’s return, she murmured suddenly,

    “Why do people get married?”

“Probably because they’re afraid of being lonely when they’re old.”

Miss Jiang answered without missing a beat, dragging her chair over and sitting down across from her.

At that moment, something in her words seemed to strike a chord.

Li Mingyu turned her head abruptly, eyes burning.

“What if I’m not afraid of being alone?”

“Does that mean I don’t have to get married?”

Looks like this little mature woman was really feeling something today.

Miss Jiang thought for a moment.

Then she began analyzing the nature of marriage from various angles.

She talked about how it affected a person’s life, and how things might change in the future.

As she got into it, she even discreetly pointed at an elderly couple bickering at a nearby table.

    That made Li Mingyu smile.

“So what you’re saying is, don’t get married?”

    Miss Jiang waved her hand.

“That’s not what I mean, but if that’s how you want to take it, that’s fine too.”

“But what if your mom forces you to get married?”

    “My mom? Force me?”

    Miss Jiang raised an eyebrow.

Sure, with her mom’s personality, that was a possibility down the line—but she wasn’t exactly someone who could be pushed around.

“Think I won’t just hit the gas and drive off around the world?”

Hearing that, Li Mingyu laughed and shook her head.

Just then, the boss lady swayed over gracefully, carrying a tray, and placed the two bowls of food in front of them.

With a cheerful “Enjoy,” she turned and walked away.

At that moment, watching the boss lady’s curvy figure retreat,

Miss Jiang suddenly said, with a meaningful tone,

    “Sister Mingyu.”

“Honestly, marriage is just about finding a companion.”

“That companion could be a man, but it could just as well be a woman.”

    “What do you think?”

    ………

    One hour later.

Outside the gates of Jiangzhou No. 1 Middle School.

Miss Jiang stepped out of the car.

Holding a sky-blue oil-paper umbrella, she walked around to the driver’s side.

“Little Jiang Ning, thank you for today.”

Miss Jiang knew exactly what Li Mingyu was thanking her for.

With a grin, she said, “Keeping Sister Mingyu company and cheering her up—how could I possibly shirk that duty?”

    “Smart mouth.”

Li Mingyu chuckled softly. “I’ll get the photos developed and give you a copy.”

“Sure! I’ll make sure to properly critique Sister Mingyu’s photography skills when I get them.”

“I just started learning. No making fun of me.”

“Oh? Already laying the groundwork for excuses? Looks like…”

“You little brat! Looking for a beating!”

After a bit of playful banter, the two waved goodbye.

    But just before leaving…

Miss Jiang suddenly reached into her pocket, pulled out a set of keys, and handed them through the car window.

“What’s this?” Li Mingyu asked, puzzled, but still took the keys.

    “Jiangzhou Tianxia, number 16.”

“If you’re ever feeling down or have nowhere to stay, go there.”

“I’ve left a room for you on the second floor.”

    “Mm, the bed’s huge.”

“You can roll around however you like.”

    As she said that,

    Miss Jiang winked.

    “No turning this down, okay~”

    Then,

She waved her hand with a smile,

Turned around with her umbrella held high,

And walked toward the school gate across the street.

    Inside the car,

Li Mingyu watched her graceful figure slowly disappear into the misty rain.

    She murmured softly,

    “You little minx…”

The drizzle fell like silk, silently seeping into her heart.

    —————

Sometimes, Jiang Ning thought life was actually kind of interesting.

Just yesterday, she’d been at a trade fair, listening to distributors from all over the province chatting away.

They went from gossiping about small-town news to discussing major international affairs.

And today, here she was, sitting at a cramped school desk,

Copying down thirty English vocabulary words assigned by the teacher.

    Ah~

    Life, huh~

    Miss Jiang stretched lazily.

Her impressive figure drew more than a few wandering gazes.

    Just then,

    Ye Na suddenly returned.

    She didn’t look too happy.

Her face was clouded with frustration.

The moment she sat down, she turned to Miss Jiang.

“Jiang Ning, what do I do? Tao Tao rejected my gift!”

    Gift?

    Oh.

Miss Jiang blinked in confusion before realizing what Little Ye was referring to.

    She muttered under her breath,

    Well, duh.

    Anyone would reject that thing.

    Only you would…

    Forget it.

Miss Jiang really wanted to mess with the Poodle’s head a little.

But considering this girl was still technically a client,

    If she pushed too hard…

What if she demanded a refund?

    After thinking it over,

    She asked tactfully,

“Maybe the way you gave the gift was a bit… overwhelming?”

“No! I just had it delivered to the mailroom at Ningcheng No. 14 High.”

    You sent it directly?

    Oh.

    Wait, what!?

“You had the factory ship all seven electric bicycles—fully coated—straight to Tao Tao’s school mailroom?!”

“Yeah, I don’t know his home address.”

    Hearing that,

Miss Jiang instantly pictured Tao Tao standing there, dumbfounded, staring at seven massive boxes.

She couldn’t help pressing her fingers to her temples.

For a moment, she didn’t even know how to laugh.

In the end, she reminded herself of the sacred truth: the customer is always right.

Miss Jiang took two deep breaths.

Then exhaled and turned to the airheaded Ye.

    “Alright.”

“I’ll send him a message and ask.”

    “If it’s not convenient…”

    Just as she was speaking,

Her phone, which had just powered on, vibrated.

    She glanced down.

    A message from Little Tao.

    Along with several missed calls.

[Jiang Ning! Did you give her another one of your terrible ideas?! What’s with the seven electric bikes?!]

[Why are there photos of me pasted on every single one?! And why are they all sitting at the school’s front gate mailroom?! Jiang Ning!! Are you trying to kill me?!]

[Jiang Ning!! Now even the janitors know I got all this crap!!]

[Jiang Ning! I’m telling you! If you don’t give me a solution for this, we are not done!!]

Even through the screen, she could feel Little Tao’s seething rage.

It made Jiang Ning’s liver ache.

She turned to look at the Poodle, who was still staring at her with hopeful eyes.

Swallowed back the words she was about to say.

    After a moment’s thought,

She pulled a sour face and typed out a message.

Then sent it to another girl.

    A moment later,

    A reply came back.

    【Darling, don’t worry. Leave it to me.】
