    Chapter 263: The Old-School Tyrant CEO 7

Su Mingyue and Ying Qing also heard the noise. The two of them looked up, and what they saw left them quite surprised.

    It was actually her.

Ying Qing reached out and poked Su Mingyue’s arm. “Hey, look, it’s Zhao Yixin. Honestly, her looks are just average for a little beauty. Shen Xiuyan has seen every kind of goddess imaginable, why would he ever look at her differently?”

Su Mingyue pouted in dissatisfaction. “Don’t say things like that anymore. Xiuyan explained everything clearly to me today. There is absolutely nothing between them. It was just a single act of kindness that somehow got twisted into these rumors.”

Ying Qing looked at her with a “hopeless” expression. “No, you just believe whatever he says? Darling, you really are too naive.”

Su Mingyue shrugged. “He’s never been the type to bother with lying. Besides, why would he lie to me about this? He could just tell me the truth; it’s not like I could do anything to him anyway.”

Ying Qing was left speechless by that logic. “I suppose that’s true…”

Shen Xiuyan’s family background was significantly more powerful than even Mingyue’s.

One could even say he was at the very pinnacle of H Country.

If he stomped his foot, the entire nation’s business circles would tremble.

A man like that could do whatever he pleased. There was no need for him to string Mingyue along if he didn’t want to.

Over at the other counter, the sales assistant in charge of reception was a newcomer. Faced with such a sharp interrogation, she bit her lip, trying to think of a way to explain without hurting the customer’s pride.

While she hesitated, Zhao Yixin had already grown impatient. She was afraid the people ahead of her would buy the jewelry first.

“Can you handle this or not? If not, get someone else. Who is the manager here? How was a sales assistant like this even trained?”

Hearing this, the store manager who had been attending to Su Mingyue and Ying Qing immediately walked over.

“Hello, Miss. I am the manager of this store. This is a new assistant, and perhaps she didn’t explain the situation clearly. We are a boutique; some items cannot be purchased just because one wants them. For example, the counter you are interested in requires a total expenditure of thirty million in this store to become a VIP before a purchase can be made.”

“After all, as you can see, the jewelry at that counter is priced at cost. If you aren’t a VIP, we truly cannot offer that price.”

“How much?!” Zhao Yixin couldn’t help but cry out in shock.

    Thirty million?

To buy a five hundred thousand yuan necklace, she had to spend thirty million first?

Where would she get that kind of money?

“That is correct, Madam. Thirty million,” the manager continued with a polite, professional smile. “Linda, if this young lady still really wants a necklace from that side, you can take her to the VIP Gallery first. The jewelry there is larger and of higher quality. As long as she finds one piece she likes, she will reach the thirty million threshold.”

Zhao Yixin’s face turned a deep, angry red, looking like a piece of raw liver.

What did she mean by that? Was she mocking her for being unable to afford it?

Ying Qing watched the spectacle for a while before whispering to Su Mingyue, “Look at that. Her face is as red as a monkey’s butt. Even I’d hesitate at thirty million. Do you think she can actually produce that much?”

Su Mingyue turned her head curiously. Just as Ying Qing said, Zhao Yixin looked incredibly awkward at that moment.

Su Mingyue didn’t have a hobby of enjoying other people’s misery, so she intended to look away after just one glance.

But as luck would have it, her eyes met Zhao Yixin’s.

Zhao Yixin looked at the bright, moving beauty across from her, who was looking back with eyes that held no emotion at all.

It was as if she were a mere clown, someone not even worth the effort of mocking.

A surge of blood rushed to her head, and Zhao Yixin heard her own voice ring out clearly, “Then take me to the VIP Gallery. I’ll see if there’s any jewelry there that catches my eye.”

The assistant named Linda looked delighted. She hadn’t expected this minor star to be so wealthy.

Her commission for the month was looking promising.

She said respectfully, “Miss Zhao, this way please.”

Zhao Yixin immediately put on airs. She gave a haughty nod and followed her toward the VIP Gallery.

She could lose anything, but she couldn’t lose face.

The store manager watched them leave with a smile.

Once they were far enough away, she curled her lip slightly in disdain.

Someone wearing clothes worth a few thousand yuan buying things from the VIP Gallery?

    Going to the Gallery?

In her eyes… the girl had simply lost face and was now forced to act like a big shot just to save her pride.

She’d likely walk out in a moment, making some hollow excuse about not liking any of the styles.

She had seen plenty of people like that, but Linda was new and probably didn’t know better. The poor girl was likely getting her hopes up for nothing.

After finishing her internal critique, the manager turned back around, her face once again wearing a perfect smile.

“I apologize for the farce those two caused. Come, let us continue.” The manager asked, “Were you about to try on this necklace? Let me help you with that.”

The sincerity in her words was palpable, and her smile held not a hint of perfunctoriness.

After all, who wouldn’t love a God of Wealth?

As long as Miss Su was here, she could make a fortune this month.

    She truly adored her.

She had the life of a wealthy socialite and the generous spirit to match.

Ying Qing tried on several pieces in a row and was satisfied with all of them.

She looked conflicted. “Mingyue, look at these necklaces. Which one do you think looks better?”

Su Mingyue tilted her head. “I think they all look quite good. In that case, please wrap them all up for us.”

The manager’s smile grew even wider. “Certainly, Miss Su.”

Taking advantage of the moment the manager turned to pack the items, Ying Qing grabbed Su Mingyue’s hand. “This isn’t right. It’s too expensive altogether. I can’t accept this.”

Su Mingyue smiled and hooked her arm. “It’s fine. Just consider it getting revenge for you.”

Ying Qing might bicker and clash with Shen Xiuyan constantly, but that was just a natural personality conflict. She wasn’t the type to take unfair advantage of people.

She thought for a moment. “How about this: I’ll pay half!”

Su Mingyue flicked her forehead. “Stop that. Just consider it an early birthday present from me. Besides, this is nothing to Xiuyan.”

Hearing this, Ying Qing really wanted to complain. It was true that this was nothing to Shen Xiuyan; after all, the crumbs that fell through his fingers were worth more than this.
