    Chapter 11

Everyone’s attention turned toward them, filled with surprise and suspicion. The situation before them seemed like an internal conflict among the younger generation of the Shen family.

It made sense. Now that the Shen Corporation was in Shen Jiashu’s hands and he had a daughter of his own, would he really hand over the company to his niece? Shen Pingting’s open hostility toward Shen Lihuan was understandable.

Feeling the mixed gazes on her—some amused, some indifferent—Shen Lihuan met them with calm composure. Then, she leisurely raised her eyes to look at Shen Pingting, who had a scheming glint hidden in her gaze. With such shallow and clumsy tricks, it was almost pitiful how much effort she had to put in.

“Today is a joyous occasion for my parents, and I would like to play a piece for them to celebrate their recovery. I also hope my parents will always remain healthy and that everything goes smoothly for them in the future!”

Shen Lihuan gracefully stepped onto the stage, lifted the hem of her dress slightly, and curtsied to the audience with a confident and elegant smile.

Shen Jiashu and Gu Qinglan were the first to applaud. You Changqing, who had been frowning, also relaxed her expression and gave Shen Lihuan a big thumbs-up.

The crowd followed with applause, and many young people admired Shen Lihuan’s composure in the face of adversity, clapping enthusiastically. If not for the fact that this was an elite social event, some of them would have shouted out loud to cheer her on.

In Shen Pingting’s imagination, Shen Lihuan should have been completely flustered in this situation, her face turning red as she made a fool of herself in front of everyone—because Shen Lihuan didn’t even know how to play the piano.

Shen Pingting had been pampered since childhood, constantly told that aside from the You family and the Jun family, no other family in Green Country was worthy of being compared to theirs. The others were insignificant, not even fit to carry her shoes.

So, even though Shen Lihuan’s family shared the same surname, in Shen Pingting’s eyes, they were low-class people from a small place like Lan City—shamelessly trying to take what belonged to her. She despised and resented her second uncle’s family, unwilling to see them succeed.

Now, Shen Lihuan’s poised and graceful demeanor stung her eyes. She knew she had acted impulsively, but so what? She had been the esteemed eldest daughter of the Shen family for eighteen years. Why should she have to endure humiliation from Shen Lihuan without retaliating?

Shen Lihuan sat down at the piano, her slender fingers pressing against the black and white keys. The melody of Für Elise flowed out, lively and enchanting, captivating the audience.

You Changqing’s bright eyes remained fixed on Shen Lihuan on stage. The way she played the piano was different from before—she seemed to shine even brighter, as if wrapped in a sacred halo, dazzling and extraordinary.

Qin Aocheng held the petite girl’s hand in his own, but his gaze was involuntarily drawn to Shen Lihuan. Shen Lihuan, the second young lady of the Shen family—he hadn’t expected the woman he had set his eyes on to have such a high status. But that only proved his excellent taste, didn’t it?

With that thought, Qin Aocheng’s eyes gleamed with possessiveness. He had obtained the system—he was the protagonist of this world. Wasn’t it only natural for him to be surrounded by women? Otherwise, how would it match his status?

As the final note faded, Shen Lihuan stood and curtsied again. Thunderous applause erupted in the hall.

Shen Jiashu and Gu Qinglan’s faces were filled with pride, delighted by their daughter’s excellence.

At this moment, they were no longer just the president and first lady of a company but simply a pair of ordinary parents, joyful because of their child’s brilliance.

During Shen Lihuan’s performance, Liang Yinqiu had quietly approached Shen Pingting, using her fan to shield her face as she scolded her in a hushed tone. Even as spoiled as she was, Shen Pingting didn’t dare to defy her mother.

For some reason, she felt a faint fear toward her mother. Even though her mother doted on her, she couldn’t suppress this feeling. So, when Liang Yinqiu reprimanded her, she didn’t dare utter a word and simply lowered her head, pretending to be invisible.

After Shen Lihuan stepped down from the stage, Liang Yinqiu pulled Shen Pingting along to stand beside her.

“Lihuan, your piano playing is truly outstanding. Your cousin couldn’t match you even if she tried. No wonder she holds you in such high regard—I finally understand why,” Liang Yinqiu said with a smile while pressing a firm hand onto Shen Pingting’s shoulder.

Shen Pingting bit her lip from the pain, forcing an unwilling smile. “That’s right. Compared to my cousin, I’m far behind. That’s why I was so excited when she said she would perform. It meant I’d get to hear her beautiful music again.”

Shen Lihuan’s lips curved slightly as she replied, “Thank you, Aunt, and thank you, Cousin, for your compliments. My piano skills are just average. If you keep praising me like this, I might start blushing.”

“Haha, then I won’t say any more. There are many outstanding young people here today. Lihuan, you should go and meet a few like-minded individuals—you’ll have plenty of chances to interact with them in the future,” Liang Yinqiu said, patting Shen Lihuan’s arm in a gesture of elder-like care.

Shen Lihuan’s eyes flickered. “Thank you for the advice, Aunt.”

Satisfied, Liang Yinqiu smiled and led Shen Pingting over to Shen Zhongyuan’s side. To prevent her daughter from making more mistakes, she decided to keep her close for the rest of the event.

You Changqing walked over to Shen Lihuan’s right, her gaze deep as she watched Liang Yinqiu’s retreating figure. “Your aunt is quite something. With just a few words, she managed to brush everything aside.”

Shen Lihuan playfully grabbed her hand, her gaze teasing and seductive. “Changqing, are you worried about me?”

You Changqing puffed up her cheeks and swatted away her “sneaky hand.” “I’m being serious.”

Shen Lihuan chuckled, a hint of mischief in her smile. “I know. But no matter how scheming my aunt is, she has a pig-headed teammate dragging her down, doesn’t she?”

You Changqing crossed her arms and shot her a sidelong glance, her eyes glimmering. “As long as you know.”
