    Chapter 5

Two days later, it was Monday again, time to go to school.

Shen Lihuan’s school uniform was not ready yet, so she wore a blue high-waisted A-line skirt paired with a white blouse, looking clean and fresh. She was tall, standing at 1.72 meters, and her long, slender legs were particularly eye-catching.

Shen Pingting, on the other hand, was only 1.6 meters tall. Standing next to her, she had no presence at all and instead looked like a little maid beside a young lady. Shen Pingting was seething with jealousy, regretting for the first time that she was born too short.

However, she had some self-restraint. Remembering her mother’s warning, she forced herself to suppress her jealousy and pulled Shen Lihuan into the car. On the way, she enthusiastically introduced her friends, especially her male friends, speaking about them as if they were unparalleled.

If Shen Lihuan were a lovestruck girl, she might have been moved by her words. But after seeing too many disgusting men in the apocalypse who used their powers to force women into submission and keep them as playthings, she had no fondness for men whatsoever. Shen Pingting’s efforts were in vain.

Seeing Shen Lihuan remain cold and indifferent, Shen Pingting gritted her teeth in frustration. But she knew that talking too much would only lead to mistakes, so she abruptly changed the subject.

When they arrived at Ming High School, Shen Pingting led Shen Lihuan to the principal’s office before finding an excuse to leave, under the pretense of helping Shen Lihuan improve her social skills.

Shen Lihuan cast a cold glance at her departing figure, then knocked on the principal’s office door. After hearing a “Come in” from inside, she pushed the door open and stepped in.

Ming High’s principal, surnamed Cheng, had been informed that the Shen family’s second daughter would be transferring in. He had called the homeroom teacher of Class Two, Grade Ten, Ye Lan, to come early that morning.

Thus, Shen Lihuan smoothly followed her new homeroom teacher to her class.

“Class, this semester we have a new student joining us. I hope everyone can get along well and work together in unity. Now, let’s welcome our new classmate for a self-introduction,” Ye Lan said as she entered the classroom, trying to warm up the atmosphere. She knew her new student came from a privileged background and only hoped she wasn’t a troublemaker.

“A new student? The semester is almost a month in, and we’re still getting new students?”

“Could it be some kind of special connection?”

“I hope it’s a pretty girl. That way, I might finally get a girlfriend!”

A delicate-looking boy blushed as he spoke.

    “Get lost!”

The surrounding students booed him, and the boy rolled his eyes in annoyance.

When Shen Lihuan walked into the classroom, she immediately felt many curious and scrutinizing gazes. She stepped onto the podium and swept a calm gaze across the students. Yet, the students below felt as if they were facing an incredibly powerful presence.

“Hello, everyone. My name is Shen Lihuan. I’ll be spending the next three years of high school with you all. I hope we get along well.”

As soon as she finished speaking, applause broke out.

“Oh my god, the new student is so beautiful!”

Shen Lihuan was indeed stunning. Her jet-black, shiny hair was elegantly tied up. Her oval face was adorned with exquisite features, and her peach blossom eyes shimmered with light, mesmerizing anyone who looked into them.

“She has such a great figure! Not only is she tall, but she also has a big chest—how is this fair?! I thought height and curves were a trade-off!”

Shen Lihuan’s figure was indeed enviable. At 1.72 meters, she had a slender waist, long legs, a full bust, and curvaceous hips—everything in perfect proportion.

“Wuwuwu, only Chang Qing can compete with her in looks,” a round-faced, adorable girl sighed in admiration, leaning on her desk before turning to look at her equally beautiful deskmate.

    “Right, Chang Qing? Chang Qing?”

You Changqing had been biting her lip in surprise and delight ever since Shen Lihuan entered the classroom.

She really transferred to Ming High! And she’s in the same class as me?

Oh my god, this is too amazing!

She’s called Shen Lihuan, but which ‘Li’ is it? Li as in chestnut? Li as in beautiful? Or Li as in lychee?

Hearing her deskmate’s question, she snapped back to reality. Remembering her usual cool and aloof persona, she forced herself to suppress her excitement and responded with a casual “Mm,” though she hadn’t actually heard what her deskmate asked.

Her deskmate, Du Yuanyuan, was pleasantly surprised that You Changqing had actually responded to her. But when she saw her deskmate’s indifferent profile, she couldn’t help but inwardly clutch her imaginary handkerchief. Wuwuwu, her deskmate was perfect in every way except for being too cold. The dream of going to the restroom hand-in-hand with her bestie was utterly impossible.

Following Ye Lan’s arrangement, Shen Lihuan sat in the second-to-last row of the classroom. There was no choice—she was too tall and could only sit in the back.

Her seat happened to be to You Changqing’s right, separated only by an aisle. Feeling Shen Lihuan’s overwhelming presence, You Changqing couldn’t help but glance in her direction.

Shen Lihuan happened to look over as well. In her shimmering peach blossom eyes, You Changqing saw only her own reflection. She nearly lost control of her expression and had to dig her nails into her palm to stop herself from reacting.

Shen Lihuan gazed at her new deskmate with a hint of amusement.

She was a girl born with natural allure.

Her long black hair cascaded down her back in soft waves. Her forehead was smooth and rounded. Her mesmerizing eyes, with slightly upturned corners, seemed to steal souls with a mere blink. Her lips were a perfect shade of red, luscious and tempting.

At this moment, she wore an expression of cool detachment, but her gaze held a hint of nervousness, like a little rabbit facing a big predator—clearly apprehensive yet trying her best to appear brave. This act of pretending to be tough was utterly endearing.

Shen Lihuan’s tongue couldn’t help but glide over her pristine white teeth. This girl was truly well-formed—everywhere matched her aesthetic preferences.

“Hello, classmate. I’m Shen Lihuan—’Li’ from ‘Lychee’ and ‘Huan’ from ‘Joyful.'”

Shen “Big Bad Wolf” Lihuan greeted her deskmate in a friendly manner.

You Changqing felt her warmth toward her, and her heart leaped with joy. She couldn’t help but feel a sense of happiness welling up inside. Lowering her gaze, she tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear.

“Hello, I’m You Changqing—’Chang’ from ‘Youthful’ and ‘Qing’ from ‘Everlasting.'”

You Changqing’s voice was as clear and refreshing as she was—like pearls rolling onto a jade plate, exceptionally pleasant to the ear.

You Changqing of the You family—what a coincidence. Just last night, Shen Lihuan had heard mention of her, and now they were classmates.

Even her voice matched Shen Lihuan’s taste perfectly. She suddenly felt that she might be able to have her first real friend in this world—whether or not the You family and the Shen family got along.

    Face-connoisseurs were just that willful.

“Alright, now that everyone has met our new classmate, who would like to help her with her books after class?”

Ye Lan observed Shen Lihuan and You Changqing’s conversation with a cold gaze. Seeing that Shen Lihuan didn’t seem difficult to get along with, she secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

    “Teacher, I will!”

    “I want to help too!”

The students were very enthusiastic. Seeing so many people eager to help Shen Lihuan carry her books, You Changqing felt somewhat displeased. Why were they so enthusiastic? Carrying books should be left to her and Lihuan—that way, they would have a chance to be alone together.

Shen Lihuan noticed the hint of disappointment on You Changqing’s face and frowned slightly. What was wrong with this little bunny? Why did she look so unhappy?

You Changqing bit her lip but ultimately stood up. “Teacher, let me accompany Shen Lihuan. We’re deskmates, so it would be more convenient.”

“That works perfectly. Changqing, you’re also the vice class representative, so it’s even more fitting for you to accompany her.”

Ye Lan was very reassured to see that it was You Changqing who would be helping Shen Lihuan.

“Thank you, Changqing. Can I call you that?”

Shen Lihuan propped her delicate chin on her hand and looked at You Changqing. Catching the smile at the corner of Shen Lihuan’s lips and feeling the assertiveness in her words, You Changqing’s heart wavered.

You’ve already called me that—how could I refuse?

Although she thought this, You Changqing maintained a calm exterior. To outsiders, she only responded coolly with a simple “Mm” and said, “You can.”

However, Shen Lihuan noticed her long lashes trembling like a fluttering butterfly and couldn’t help but curl her lips into a smile.

    New friend is adorable.

After class, You Changqing and Shen Lihuan went together to the academic office to collect the textbooks. The building for Class Two was in the western part of the school, separated from the office building by another building.

As soon as they descended from the third floor, they heard a wave of excited screams.

    “Senior Aochen! Senior Aochen!”

“Aochen, Aochen, soaring among the stars!”

Hearing the fanatical screams, You Changqing glanced at the person surrounded by girls and frowned in displeasure.

“What’s going on? Do we have a big celebrity in our school? These girls are way too enthusiastic,” Shen Lihuan asked, puzzled by You Changqing’s unhappy expression.

“Isn’t he a big celebrity? Senior Aochen’s latest single Angel’s Wings is already ranked number one on the A-Charts!”

The A-Charts were the most authoritative music rankings in Green Nation. Ranking first was an incredible achievement. Upon hearing that someone was unaware of their idol, the girls eagerly began to explain.

However, the moment they noticed You Changqing standing nearby, their expressions darkened with anger and vigilance.

“You Changqing! Didn’t you say you would never like Senior Aochen? Then why are you here crowding around him?”

Hearing that You Changqing was somehow involved, Shen Lihuan turned her gaze toward her.

Afraid that Shen Lihuan would misunderstand and think she liked Qin Aochen, You Changqing coldly glared at the girl.

“I did say that I would never fall for Qin Aochen in my lifetime. If it weren’t for you fangirls crowding around and blocking our way, we wouldn’t even be standing here.”

    Qin Aochen?!

Suddenly, Shen Lihuan realized why You Changqing’s name had sounded familiar. Qin Aochen and You Changqing—weren’t they characters from a harem urban novel she had once read, System: Urban Madman?

So she hadn’t just transmigrated—she had transmigrated into a book?!

Still, nothing could be harder to accept than the apocalypse she had experienced before. Shen Lihuan quickly composed herself, suppressing the absurdity of the situation. Whether or not she was in a book, this world was real to her, and she wouldn’t confuse the two.

Over there, Qin Aochen was basking in the adoration of the surrounding girls. Hearing You Changqing’s words, his eyes darkened. This woman was always so proud and indifferent, never sparing him a glance. But the more she acted this way, the more he wanted to conquer her—women like her were the most thrilling to toy with.

As Qin Aochen entertained his vile thoughts, he put on an expression of deep emotion and approached You Changqing.

“Chang—junior, I know I come from a humble background and don’t deserve you. But my feelings for you are real. Every time I think about how I can’t be with you, it feels like my heart is being torn apart. Please, allow me to love you in this humble way—I swear I won’t disturb you.”

Qin Aochen was truly worthy of being the male lead in the novel. He was extremely handsome, and his sorrowful, heartbroken demeanor shattered the hearts of all the girls present.

Their beloved idol deeply loved this vixen, and yet she still had the audacity to reject him?

If they hadn’t remembered that You Changqing was the eldest daughter of the You family—someone they couldn’t afford to offend—they would have drowned her in their collective spit.

Shen Lihuan instantly saw through the hypocrisy and lust in Qin Aochen’s eyes. Remembering how, in the novel, he slept with every woman he met, she was so disgusted that she wanted to destroy him right then and there.

And now, he was actually pestering You Changqing?!

Shen Lihuan curled her lips into a mocking smile and took hold of You Changqing’s soft, fair hand.

“If you already know you don’t deserve Changqing, then why are you still pestering her? Do you not realize you’re harassing her? If you truly had any self-awareness, you’d get lost immediately and stop being an eyesore.”

After saying that, Shen Lihuan shot him a look of disdain, then pulled You Changqing through the crowd and walked toward the academic office.

Qin Aochen’s expression froze. Ever since he became famous for his music and albums, no one had dared to treat him so rudely. Other than You Changqing, now there was another one.

His gaze shifted to Shen Lihuan, and the fury in his eyes turned to burning desire as he took in her exquisitely beautiful face.

This girl was stunning! He had thought that among all the women he had met, You Changqing was the most beautiful—but now, there was someone equally breathtaking.

Was this Heaven’s reward for him? He always seemed to encounter the most exceptional women. One day, both of them would be his personal possessions.
