Chapter 222: Little Tiger’s Roar in the Beast World – 11

The little one, whose paws hurt at the slightest touch, surprisingly stayed obediently in the cave every day without running outside.

To keep him from getting bored, Xie Hui would return to the cave after finishing his duties in the tribe and take him out to play.

Most of the time, Xie Hui would wake up a bit earlier than Sheng, go out to patrol, and on his way back, pick a flower to place behind Sheng’s ear.

Originally, Xie Hui would only put one flower on him, but after some beastman placed another on his other ear, Sheng started insisting on having flowers on both ears.

Whenever Xie Hui only brought back one flower, Sheng would persistently point with his paw at the ear without a flower.

After his paws healed, the little one, who had stayed in because of the pain, ran outside to play wildly all day, not intending to return home even after nightfall.

It was already midnight when Xie Hui, who had been resting, saw a small figure sneak into the cave, quickly lie down in its usual sleeping spot, and cover itself with animal skins.

Xie Hui opened his eyes slightly, saw how quickly the little one fell asleep, adjusted his position, and continued to rest.

Even if he left the tribe, there would always be beastmen guarding the area at night. As long as the Little Tiger was within the tribe, no matter whose cave he ended up in, Xie Hui wasn’t worried.

After some time, a few birds from the neighboring Sky Tribe came to trade goods with them.

They were intrigued by the many strange things in the tribe and couldn’t help but ask a few questions out of curiosity.

Since the relationship between the tribes was good, Xie Hui consulted the Priest and then explained their trading activities to the birds.

Just a day later, the birds returned, bringing some of their young to broaden their horizons. During a spar with Sheng, a few feathers were plucked.

This time, Xie Hui needed to go to the seaside again.

Initially, he intended to delegate the task to other beastmen, but the ones he had taken last time all shook their heads, saying they couldn’t manage it.

With no other choice, Xie Hui had to go himself.

He thought the previous lesson, where Sheng’s paws had swollen, would keep him obediently in the tribe. Unexpectedly, on the day of departure, Sheng clung tightly to Xie Hui’s front paw with all four of his, like a sturdy Little Tiger pendant.

Perhaps the strange scenery of the seaside held too much allure for the Little Tiger who grew up in the tribe. Even after Xie Hui warned him about the paw pain, Sheng still wanted to go along, so Xie Hui took him.

To avoid making the other cubs feel left out, Xie Hui included the fathers of two other cubs in the group going to the seaside.

After consulting them, they all expressed disdain for the trouble of bringing their young, leaving the two cubs to watch Sheng leave with longing eyes from the tribe’s entrance.

Though Xie Hui found the Little Tiger troublesome, he couldn’t bear to refuse him. If it was within his capabilities, he didn’t mind taking him along.

Moreover, according to the original storyline, Sheng was destined to become the next Tribe Leader. Perhaps this task would eventually fall to him.

The journey to that place was incredibly far. Despite frequent trips, the beastmen often lost their way halfway.

With winter approaching, Xie Hui quickened the pace. When Sheng, unable to walk, demanded to be carried, he clung tightly to his father’s fur, feeling as if he might be thrown off at any moment.

Unlike last time, he couldn’t leisurely enjoy the scenery on both sides; only the sound of the wind remained in his mind.

Upon arrival, the people from the other three tribes presented the goods they intended to trade. On the way back, they still needed Xie Hui to lead the way.

Bounced around until he felt like he was falling apart, Sheng insisted on running alongside them on the return journey.

On their way back, it started to snow, making everyone eager to return to the tribe.

Sheng’s paws were almost worn out from running, yet he couldn’t keep up with Xie Hui and the others, so he was forced to lie down and be carried back.

Fortunately, they managed to return to the tribe before the snow fully set in.

The cub grew day by day. The Little Tiger, whom Xie Hui could easily lift when he was disobedient, gradually became too heavy to carry. When Sheng lay on the ground playfully, Xie Hui couldn’t move him anymore.

When hunting with them, Sheng’s abilities rivaled those of adult beastmen. In capturing prey, he was sometimes even more courageous than the adults.

Without any objections, Sheng was set to become the next Tribe Leader.

Though not yet an adult, many adult beastmen in the tribe hoped he would take a liking to their females.

Xie Hui was pleased with this development. Though he never mentioned it to his cub, he had discussed it with the parents of those females.

The longer Xie Hui lived in the tribe and adapted to its environment, the less he liked the female protagonist who had crossed over.

The client was rather open-minded and grateful for the changes the female protagonist brought to the tribe, wishing only for his son’s happiness.

Xie Hui, however, was different. His thoughts were more extreme; he simply disliked the female protagonist.

The belief in unwavering loyalty to one’s partner is ingrained in the very bones of the beastmen. No matter how hard the female lead tried in the Client’s memories, she couldn’t find someone she truly liked among them, and Xie Hui still didn’t like her.

If the female lead hadn’t misspoken about wanting to be with every one of those beastmen, given their possessive nature, they would never have entertained thoughts of a female who already had a partner.

Take Xie Hui, for example. He remains the bravest beastman in the entire tribe, yet no female ever approaches him with affection.

If a partner dies, beastmen live with the memories of the past until they return to the embrace of the Beast God.

Although Sheng is growing up and appears impressive in front of others, he still clings to Xie Hui like he did when he was young, occasionally acting spoiled.

Xie Hui couldn’t help but grow more fond of his cub, especially when Sheng, with his handsome and imposing head, would nuzzle up to him, acting cute to get another rabbit.

If refused, Sheng would sulk in a corner just like when he was little.

But every time Xie Hui approached, Sheng’s tail would involuntarily wrap around Xie Hui’s leg, and you could see an exasperated tiger growling angrily at his own tail.

“Sheng, next time we go to the seaside, you can bring them back, right?”

Xie Hui ruffled his head, and Sheng gave up struggling. Not only did he stop scolding his tail, but he also leaned his head against his father’s body.

    “Roar?”

“There are more important matters in the tribe that need my attention. I don’t have time to go with you. You’ve been with me so many times; you can do it, right?”

The tasks in the tribe weren’t many or particularly urgent. Xie Hui could handle them after returning from the seaside.

However, he wanted to use this opportunity to train Sheng.

Ever since Sheng first managed to tag along to the seaside by being persistent, Xie Hui hadn’t been able to shake off this little shadow. From a cub that would whine about sore paws after walking too much, Sheng had grown to run faster than Xie Hui.

The last two times, Xie Hui had feigned illness to let Sheng lead the way. Sheng didn’t deviate from the path.

He successfully led a group of beastmen to the seaside and back.

In stark contrast, the other beastmen, despite being led by Xie Hui multiple times, still hadn’t managed to find the correct route on their own.

Xie Hui had to admit that some things truly depended on talent.

Although Sheng had found the way, he had never done so without his father by his side. Feeling a bit anxious and unsure how to argue, he scratched the ground with his paw.

“Sheng, you’re so capable. You can definitely do it, right?”

Under Xie Hui’s expectant gaze, Sheng nodded, placing his paw in Xie Hui’s palm with a roar.

Most of the beastmen in the tribe were nervous when they heard the news, especially those about to accompany Sheng.

Xie Hui had intended to quietly follow them, but the Priest stopped him.

“Tribe Leader, you must eventually entrust them with responsibility.”

    “Alright.”

Xie Hui resisted the urge to follow them. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust Sheng, but as a father, he wanted to provide an extra layer of security, fearing any accidents might occur on the journey.

Sheng hadn’t been gone long when Xie Hui took over the watch at the tribe’s entrance from the beastmen stationed there.

Everyone in the tribe knew the Tribe Leader was worried about Sheng, which is why he never took him on hunts.

At this moment, Xie Hui understood the feelings of the Little Tiger that used to wait here for his return.

Finally, on the twenty-third day, Sheng returned safely from his first trip leading the tribe members to the seaside for trade.

Xie Hui hurried outside the tribe to check if Sheng was injured.

Upon seeing the tribe’s gate, Sheng shook off the items on his back and leaped towards his father.

Xie Hui, waiting in human form, was knocked onto the soft grass by the now-grown Sheng. Instinctively, he reached out and gently rubbed Sheng’s ears.

Having been away for so long, Sheng missed his father, nuzzling his large head into his father’s palm.

    “Roar~”

Suddenly, the Priest’s aged voice sounded from behind.

    “What is that?”

Sheng stood up and shook his fur, thinking of the items he had just dropped. Feeling a bit guilty, he hid his head behind his father. Another beastman explained:

“That’s a female we found in the forest. Her clothing is just a bit unusual.”
