by MarineTLChapter 212: Little Tiger’s Roar in the Beast World – 1
As Sheng drank the rabbit’s blood, he wished he could bury his entire head in the rabbit’s belly. His cheeks were stained with blood, but he couldn’t care less.
After finishing, he belatedly remembered his father beside him. Feeling a bit guilty as he stared at the now-empty rabbit belly, he used his paw to push the rabbit’s head towards Xie Hui.
“Roar.”
Recalling how this Little Tiger had fought fiercely with a small leopard over a rabbit outside, and now seeing him generously offer an entire rabbit, Xie Hui’s heart softened instantly.
He lowered his head, pretended to take a bite, and then pushed the rabbit back.
Little Tiger was still smaller than one of Xie Hui’s paws, so Xie Hui wasn’t about to compete with such a little cub over food.
Young Sheng couldn’t tell if Xie Hui had actually eaten. Seeing the gesture, he pounced back to continue gnawing on the rabbit.
His teeth weren’t fully developed, making it quite a struggle to bite the rabbit. He fiercely bit down, using his paw to press on the head and tear with all his might.
Xie Hui watched from the side, with no intention of helping.
This world was quite unique. Beastmen cubs didn’t need to protect their teeth during their youth. Most parents would find tough meat for them to chew on, helping them strengthen their teeth.
Sheng wasn’t very old yet, but everyone in the tribe had high hopes for him. Being able to independently catch prey, even if it was just a small rabbit, was quite impressive.
As Xie Hui was thinking this, he saw Little Tiger lose his grip with his paw. As he yanked his head back, the dead rabbit swung and hit his face. Even then, he didn’t let go, only yelping in pain.
After the pain subsided, Sheng fiercely smacked the rabbit with his paw and continued to bite.
After a while, the sound of excitement came from outside. From the Original Host’s memory, Xie Hui knew that the beastmen who went hunting had returned.
In this world, most tribes only ate one meal a day, with the hunting beastmen getting a little extra.
In the afternoon, the returning hunters would distribute the prey and eat. Those who were to hunt the next day received an additional portion to eat before leaving the tribe the following day.
The task of distributing prey was always handled by the Tribe Leader.
Xie Hui watched Little Tiger, who had gnawed through half the rabbit, transform back into human form, wrapped in fur. He scooped him up, letting him lie in the crook of his arm as they headed outside.
Sheng couldn’t bear to leave his prey behind. With his front paws clutching the half-eaten rabbit, he clung to Xie Hui with his hind paws and wrapped his tail around Xie Hui’s arm, as if afraid of falling.
“Tribe Leader.”
“Tribe Leader.”
As Xie Hui walked through the tribe, many beastmen greeted him.
In the tribe, most were accustomed to transforming into beasts to tear into their food. However, from the Client’s memory, Xie Hui knew they had begun to learn to use tools.
Finding a knife made from sharpened stone, Xie Hui began the laborious task of skinning the prey. These skins would be collected and processed by the females in the tribe, then dried for warmth in winter.
Several playful little beastmen gathered around as he skinned the prey, licking the blood with greedy expressions, which made many beastmen smile knowingly.
By the time the food was distributed, the sun had started to set. As the sunlight dimmed, many beastmen became noticeably anxious.
Carrying their portions of food, they returned to their caves. Xie Hui carried his food, with a sleepy Little Tiger on his back, clinging tightly with three paws while holding the unfinished rabbit leg with the other.
None of the beastmen in the tribe had learned to use Fire Seed yet. From the Client’s memory, fire only appeared when lightning struck trees during thunderstorms.
After some beastmen were unfortunately struck and killed, most believed it was a punishment from the Beast God.
Back in the cave, night was falling fast.
According to earlier arrangements, Xie Hui was to join the tribe’s hunting party the next day, so he received more food today. With Sheng at home, they received significantly more than other families.
The tribe placed great importance on cubs; each one was considered a precious gift from the Beast God.
Xie Hui used a sharp stone to divide the prey, tossing the best piece of meat next to Sheng.
Even though Sheng was already asleep, his nose twitched. With his eyes half-closed, he used a paw to drag the meat closer and started biting into it.
Seeing him eat even in his sleep, Xie Hui walked over and gently rubbed his ear.
Little Tiger’s ears felt nice, but when Xie Hui reached to touch them again, he heard a soft, growling threat.
“Sheng?”
Instinctively, Xie Hui called his name. The Little Tiger’s tense posture relaxed immediately, and he rubbed his ear against Xie Hui’s hand.
However, compared to the Little Tiger’s affectionate gestures in the Client’s memory, this rub felt somewhat perfunctory.
Xie Hui shifted to the side, then turned back to continue gnawing on his meat.
He recalled what the Client had mentioned about Sheng’s proud and domineering nature, where anything that belonged to him was off-limits to others. Tentatively, Xie Hui reached out and tugged at the piece of meat Sheng was eating.
This action woke Sheng, who had been dozing off. He stared at Xie Hui with wide eyes for a while, then, with some effort, split the meat he was chewing in half and pushed the larger piece toward Xie Hui.
“Roar.”
Xie Hui heard the grievance in his voice and tossed an even bigger piece back to him.
The meat Xie Hui prepared for this little fellow was always the tenderest from their hunts, unlike the tough rabbit from the afternoon.
The little tiger, who had been so upset that his tail dragged behind him, leaped happily at the sight of the huge piece of meat. He didn’t care if it dirtied his fur; he pounced on it, took a big bite, and lay on the meat, which was bigger than he was, chewing away.
Xie Hui finished the rest of the meat. Although he wasn’t quite accustomed to this way of eating, he had to overcome his reservations to ensure he had enough strength for hunting the next day.
Perhaps due to this body’s nature, Xie Hui didn’t find the meat’s raw taste unbearable. Instead, it had a strange yet inexplicable aroma.
After Xie Hui finished eating, Sheng had devoured half of his meat and carried the rest to a corner.
The Client remembered that this was Sheng’s territory, and anything taken to that spot was exclusively his, not even his father could touch it without permission.
As the Tribe Leader, the Client couldn’t indulge his child as much as other fathers might, nor could he be overly affectionate.
To avoid accusations of favoritism, he even gave his child less than what he provided for other cubs.
Despite this, it didn’t change the fact that this little tiger loved his father the most.
Xie Hui stored the remaining prey on the other side. The little tiger, not very sleepy after eating, lay there diligently grooming his fur.
Tigers, being part of the feline family, aren’t fond of bathing. After eating, the Client would help his son clean the spots he couldn’t reach.
Xie Hui, now in tiger form, walked over and scooped up the little tiger with his paw, helping to clean the blood off his back.
Thinking his father was playing, Sheng happily lay on the ground, exposing his belly. Xie Hui paused mid-motion, tempted to nuzzle his plump little tummy.
“Roar?”
Displeased that his father wasn’t playing, the little tiger gently nudged the big tiger’s whiskers with his paw.
“Whine, roar!”
Xie Hui adjusted his position, tidied Sheng’s messy fur, patted his head, and pointed to a spot not far away covered with animal skins.
Earlier, on the way back, the little tiger had been sleepy. Now, after eating, he seemed wide awake. Xie Hui pressed him down, but the little tiger stubbornly got up again, wagging his tail at Xie Hui.
From the Original Host’s memories, Xie Hui learned that he liked to rest with the little tiger pinned beneath him. He had wondered if this sleeping arrangement might be uncomfortable for the little tiger.
Seeing the little tiger, who had just been laid down, quickly get up and shake his fur, Xie Hui mimicked the Original Host. He used his paw to pin him down and rested his chin on him.
The little tiger, unable to move, could only scratch at Xie Hui with his tail in defiance.
Noticing this, Xie Hui used his other paw to pin down the little tail, listening to the little one’s whines, and closed his eyes with a firm resolve.
As a father, he had to be stern when necessary.
They had to rise early for hunting the next day, so even if the little tiger wasn’t sleepy, he had to rest.
After a short while, the little tiger, who had been so adamant about not sleeping, fell into a deep slumber, even snoring loudly enough to keep Xie Hui awake. Helpless, Xie Hui opened his eyes.
He stared at the little tiger in front of him, whose head bobbed with each snore, and after a while, he covered his ears with his paw.
The next morning, before Xie Hui even woke up, the little tiger, pinned under a paw, wriggled free. He climbed onto Xie Hui, then onto his head, mimicking Xie Hui’s actions from the previous day by pawing at his father’s ears.
When Xie Hui didn’t wake, the little tiger let out a dissatisfied cry.
“Roar-oo~”
