by MarineTLChapter 231: Little Evil Dragon in the Western Fairy Tale World…
Simply because of their identity as Evil Dragons, the king was immediately on guard. After all, in their kingdom, the legends about Evil Dragons were never positive and painted them as creatures of pure malice.
However, now looking at this small, golden, and pink dragon, with its front claws crossed and head held high, the king subconsciously nodded in agreement with his daughter’s words.
This little Evil Dragon looked genuinely adorable, but the large red Evil Dragon beside it was a different story. Every muscle on its body seemed to exude power, and its cold gaze made the king’s heart race. For a moment, the king felt that this adult Evil Dragon was much closer to the legendary depiction.
“Father, may I invite my friends to the palace as guests?” the princess asked with a smile. Now that she was back in familiar surroundings, she wasn’t afraid at all and merely treated the previous ordeal as an exciting adventure.
“If you wish, of course you can,” the king replied.
Bert wasn’t particularly eager to visit, mostly because of his pride. He had stubbornly refused to admit his mistakes earlier, but now the princess was graciously inviting him despite everything. Even a dragon with thick skin felt a bit embarrassed.
Sensing Bert’s unease, the princess approached the large dragon and, while Bert wasn’t paying attention, scooped him into her arms.
“Hey, what are you doing?!” Bert exclaimed, startled. Instinctively, he clutched the princess’s dress with his claws. Seeing the stains on her once beautiful gown, he guiltily tucked his head in and stopped struggling.
Xie Hui followed them inside. In this world, dragons were particularly favored by the heavens. If he wished, he could easily destroy the entire palace, so he wasn’t worried about any schemes. Because his daughter valued these two Evil Dragons, the king warmly welcomed them.
Seeing his daughter so close to the Little Evil Dragon, the king ordered the servants to bring out the finest wine and food. “Dragon Lord, please try this food. The taste is quite good, especially the jam, which is made from the fruits grown on our palace treetops.”
Xie Hui transformed into a human and sat down, spreading the jam evenly on a slice of bread with a knife. The jam tasted fine, but the bread was a bit hard. Xie Hui wasn’t fond of alcohol, so he merely sniffed the wine before setting it aside.
Meanwhile, Bert, who had been feeling guilty for a while, finally mustered the courage to leave the princess’s embrace and scampered over to his father. If he didn’t feel he had done something wrong, he wouldn’t be so obedient! He certainly didn’t want the fragrant princess to hold the esteemed Dragon Lord!
The princess wore a pleasant perfume, but to Bert’s sensitive nose, it was ten times stronger than reality. Xie Hui offered the jam-covered bread to Bert. Bert wasn’t adept at transforming into a human; even when he did, he couldn’t walk properly. Most of the time, he remained in his Evil Dragon form, using his claws to grasp the bread and take a bite.
“Mmm, this is delicious,” Bert said. Having only eaten grass before, he now felt he had tasted the ultimate delicacy and leaned back in his chair in enjoyment.
Seeing Bert’s actions, the king’s wariness of Evil Dragons vanished. Bert was simply too small, chubby yet not fat, and genuinely adorable, especially since his daughter was so fond of him. It was just an ordinary slice of bread, yet he ate it with such relish. What kind of life had he been living before?
After finishing the bread, Bert felt thirsty and instinctively picked up the cup on the table, drinking it all in one go. Xie Hui, busy spreading jam, took less than a minute. When he looked up again, the cup was already empty.
“Hehe, Father,” Bert said, completely unaware of any wrongdoing. He even thought to himself that these humans were as clever as the rumors suggested! Even their drinks tasted sweet.
If it weren’t for his reluctance to leave his father, Bert would have considered staying in the palace indefinitely. The wine wasn’t strong, and the king often drank it as a daily beverage. However, for a Little Evil Dragon who had never tasted alcohol and wasn’t even a month old…
After setting down the bread, Xie Hui noticed Bert’s face turning red, his beautiful light blue eyes becoming misty as he gazed at Xie Hui. This sight made Xie Hui swallow the reprimand he was about to give, realizing he too bore some responsibility for not keeping a closer watch.
“Father, I feel so energetic~” Bert said. Not only do drunk people not realize they’re drunk, but neither do drunk dragons.
“Father, watch me dance for you,” Bert announced, wobbling to the center of the hall. He shook his head and wiggled his waist, but after just a few spins, he fell to the ground with a thud.
Normally, Bert was quite proud, but now, after falling, he burst into tears. As Xie Hui approached, Bert clung to his pants, trying to climb up. Although Xie Hui had never allowed him to be so unruly, Bert skillfully burrowed into his clothes, nestling in Xie Hui’s embrace, softly humming as he closed his eyes.
The more the princess looked at the Evil Dragon, the more she found it adorable. At this moment, the king also completely set aside his prejudices.
Their understanding of Evil Dragons mostly came from the books that had been passed down, but a real Evil Dragon hadn’t appeared for a long time.
After such a long time, it’s possible that the Evil Dragon’s nature had changed.
This little creature, who couldn’t even distinguish between different drinks, was nothing like the bloodthirsty and brutal beings described in legends.
At this point, the king even began to doubt the authenticity of the book records.
That night, Xie Hui took the drunken Little Evil Dragon back to the room arranged by the king to sleep.
Meanwhile, the princess, while removing her jewelry, said to her maid:
“Tomorrow, organize all the jewelry in my box, except for those given by my father.”
The gem she wore on her head was a birthday gift from her father, and she was indeed unwilling to give it away.
But she thought the Little Evil Dragon probably wasn’t just fond of this one gem; it seemed more attracted to shiny things in general.
She happened to have plenty of jewelry, each piece beautifully adorned, which should match Bert’s aesthetic.
Before bed, the princess wondered if using so much of her jewelry could persuade the adorable Bert to let her touch his tail.
Previously, Xie Hui had indeed made up a reason on the spot to make Bert realize his mistake. He chose the tail because Bert’s tail was truly beautiful.
Soft and clean golden, plump and fluffy, it was obvious it would feel nice to the touch.
The next day, Bert slept in late, not only refusing to get up himself but also preventing his father from rising. Xie Hui had no choice but to stay in bed with him until nearly noon.
When Bert finally woke up, he rubbed his eyes, got out of bed, and stared at the bright sunlight outside, mumbling softly:
“Father, the sun is already up. Why aren’t you getting up?”
“Hmm? Don’t you remember what happened last night?”
After speaking, Xie Hui watched Bert’s expression closely and, noticing a fleeting look of guilt, gently tugged at his lips.
“Come here.”
Hearing this, Bert knew his little trick had been seen through by his father. Though a bit scared, he obediently walked over.
When he was still three steps away, Bert cautiously hid his tail.
“Let’s agree… you can’t pull off my tail.”
“Alright.”
Xie Hui held him in his arms, gently pinching his paw.
“Next time, don’t drink anything unless you’re sure what it is, understand?”
The guilty Bert nodded obediently.
“I understand.”
At noon, the king and the princess had matters to attend to, so Xie Hui took Bert for a walk in the garden.
Every time Bert reached out to pick a flower, Xie Hui would clasp his paw in his hand.
In the afternoon, after finishing her tasks, the princess arranged for a lavish afternoon tea. While eating, she said somewhat troubled:
“My father sent many knights to rescue me.”
“He even said that whoever saved me would marry me. But I don’t want to marry men I’ve never met. What should I do, Little Bert?”
Bert, who was eating a cookie, heard the princess’s question and wiped his mouth with his paw.
“Well, I could help you steal all their family treasures, so they won’t have the money to marry you.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he got a light tap on the head from his father. Bert held his head, pouting in defiance.
“Hmm?”
Xie Hui asked softly, and Bert fell silent.
Hmph, he had been threatened, so how could he dare to speak?
The princess realized that asking Bert about this topic wasn’t quite appropriate. She actually wanted to ask the larger Evil Dragon, who seemed very wise.
Although the knights hadn’t managed to rescue the princess, the king, appreciating their efforts, held a banquet in the palace to honor them.
The princess invited Xie Hui and Bert to join, hoping the subjects would see dragons in a new light—they weren’t frightening.
At the banquet, Xie Hui and Bert sat a bit further away, as they weren’t the main focus of the event.
When the king stepped down from the dais to toast the knights, one knight stepped forward.
Standing in the center, before anyone could react, he aimed a sharp sword at Bert, who was opening his mouth wide, waiting for his father to feed him.
