Chapter 41: The Wedding Night

The night had deepened, and the noise outside gradually faded away.

Shen Xiuyan walked into the room, reeking of alcohol.

He awkwardly said, “There were too many people congratulating us, don’t be mad.”

Su Mingyue blinked her bright eyes and replied, “I’m not angry, just drink less next time.”

Shen Xiuyan nodded earnestly and then picked up the wine glass on the table. “Once we finish this cup of wine, I won’t drink anymore.”

The atmosphere once again became charming.

After he left, Su Mingyue quietly got up and took out a booklet from the small bundle she had brought with her.

Before she left home, one of her father’s concubines had secretly given her this book, saying it would be useful on the wedding night.

Looking at the already sleeping Mingyue beside him, he pulled the blanket over both of them and held her, ready to sleep.

The next morning, early risers had already gathered around the Shen Family’s house.

They were eager to see the bride’s true face.

Su Mingyue felt uneasy.

Shen Xiuyan didn’t think there was anything wrong. He pulled Mingyue aside and said, “Thank you for your hard work, Mother.”

“It’s no trouble at all, not at all,” Zhou Shi said with a happy smile. “You don’t know, breakfast wasn’t even made by me personally. The cook Mingyue brought started working as soon as it was dawn. I’ve tasted her cooking, and it’s really top-notch.”

Su Mingyue smiled, “I’m glad you like it.”
