Chapter 14: The Death of Zhang Bowen

“Women really are short-sighted. You need to look at the bigger picture and take the long view. If you help me today, I can help you out some other day, right? Bla bla bla…”

Mo Yubai couldn’t be bothered to listen to any more of his nonsense. She deleted him immediately, then blacklisted him along with that “Ten Thousand Steps” guy, adding them both to her snack shop’s blacklist as well.

Take it or leave it! She refused to believe he was the only one with Activated Carbon.

These people could really talk! In just a short moment, her notifications had hit 999+ again!

She opened the chat channel and scrolled back frantically until she found the plastic bucket and tableware she had seen earlier, then sent friend requests.

“Boss Mo? You need the Plastic Bucket Blueprint? I’ll trade the blueprint for Plastic x6 and Nails x21.

I know it’s a bit much, so how about I throw in four pieces of Activated Carbon and a sun protection suit? If that doesn’t work, we can negotiate!”

Yang Yangyang said eagerly as he stared at the chat box with the big boss.

Adding the Activated Carbon made the price a bit high, but his attitude was decent, and she couldn’t be bothered to ask around one by one. Wouldn’t it be better to spend this time opening a couple more treasure chests?

“Fine, let’s do it your way. However, I only accept trades where I receive the items first before sending mine.”

Once the trade was complete, the fish soup in the pot was also done. She picked up two of the newly acquired bowls and two pairs of chopsticks and gave them a quick rinse.

After washing the dishes, she lifted the pot lid and scattered the chopped green onions inside.

She first sent over the bowl of fish soup for the trade, then she filled the bowl for Ou Ou, ladling in extra fish meat before clicking send.

Finally, she happily picked up her own bowl of fish soup and began to savor it.

Translucent fish meat bobbed in the milky white broth, dotted with bright green chopped scallions!

With one bite, the tender, savory flavor of the Three-gold Fish combined with the crisp, sharp fragrance of the wild scallions exploded on her tongue!

Paired with the soft, delicious steamed buns, every bite was so delicious she wanted to swallow her own tongue^[1]!

Sated and full, Mo Yubai took out the Water Purifier Blueprint and placed it back onto the Workbench, along with Plastic x15, Iron Block x20, and Activated Carbon x5.

With enough materials, she began the upgrade. The Workbench displayed a crafting time of one hour.

Instead of resting while she waited, she placed the Workbench into the back of her small Electric Tricycle. Opening the chat channel, she casually sent a message:

“Zhang Bowen, hide well. I’m coming to explain things to you~”

After sending the message, she closed the chat channel, got on her vehicle, and set off.

It was only a bit past nine. She had spent the entire day on the Resource Island and hadn’t opened a single treasure chest. She had to make up for it tonight!

As for that rumor-monger Zhang Bowen? There was no rush. She would let him taste fear first, and see if he could scare himself to death.

The nighttime yields were indeed high. In just three hours, she harvested two Bronze Treasure Chests!

She obtained: Wine x9, Disinfectant x6, Bandage x6, Flashlight x3, Tape x3, Hand Warmer x9, Multi-tool Knife x3, Iron Hammer x3, Blanket x3, Wooden Comb x6, Heart Pendant x3, Activated Carbon x3, Glass x3, Iron Block x12, Rubber x6, Plastic x15, Wood x9, Peach Wood x3.

It was now midnight. After several intense battles, Mo Yubai was exhausted.

Yet she did not choose to rest immediately. Instead, she sent Rubber x5 to Zhu Ou first, then looked at the Workbench in the back of the tricycle.

The Water Purifier was finished. Surprisingly, they were small black spheres that felt like they were made of Iron Blocks. She put them into her inventory to check the details.

Water Purifier: A new type of spherical water purifier. A single small black sphere can purify half of a small lake in one day. Simply drop it directly into the water to use.

Mo Yubai felt a bit more awake after reading the description. She had originally planned to use her other Water Purifier Blueprint as well, but it seemed unnecessary now.

She looked at the five small black spheres, touching them happily, then opened her inventory and dropped them all into her large fish tank and bath bucket.

Looking back at the Workbench, she placed the newly acquired Plastic Bucket Blueprint on it again. Huh? She could actually choose the quantity this time?

She decisively selected the maximum amount!

The magical runes on the Workbench began to glow and flow, displaying a crafting time of 30 minutes.

On the other highway, a single electric scooter was speeding along. Sitting on it was a refined, handsome young man.

Just then, he seemed to hear something. He looked back and saw Mo Yubai riding her Electric Tricycle, offering him a warm, gentle smile.

His pupils dilated instantly. He twisted the throttle to the maximum and fled forward.

Mo Yubai shook her head helplessly. He was quite alert, having noticed her ahead of time.

Then, without hesitation, she clicked the switch. Instantly, the three powerful headlights illuminated the road ahead with crystal clarity!

Feeling the blinding glare from behind, Zhang Bowen desperately twisted his throttle to speed forward while shouting with false bravado:

“Mo Yubai, don’t push people too far! Even a commoner’s wrath can make blood splatter^[2]! If you really push me, a man like me can easily beat a woman like you!”

Mo Yubai didn’t reply. Instead, she twisted her throttle to accelerate, charging straight at the speeding electric scooter without hesitation.

Seeing the Electric Tricycle hurtling toward him, Zhang Bowen’s eyes nearly split. He made a sharp turn to dodge the collision.

Then, he pulled out the cleaver he had obtained through deception from his inventory and threw it toward Mo Yubai!

Mo Yubai had been waiting for this exact moment!

Leaning to the side, she dodged the cleaver by a hair. In that split second, she ruthlessly released the two Flying Feathers she had prepared in her hand!

With a sharp whistle that sliced through the air, the two Flying Feathers flew one after the other, cleanly piercing through Zhang Bowen’s neck before embedding themselves deep into a roadside tree!

With a crash, the electric scooter continued to speed forward. The headless corpse on it still gripped the handlebars, riding along with the vehicle!

Meanwhile, only Zhang Bowen’s shocked head and a fountain of blood were left on the ground.

“Blegh… gag… Blegh…”

Looking at the head on the ground staring back at her, Mo Yubai felt a wave of nausea. She ran to the side of the road, leaned against a tree, and began to retch.

She threw up all the fish soup she had eaten for dinner. Her face was deathly pale, her lips and hands trembled uncontrollably, but her gaze grew even more resolute.
