“Where’s Ren Sifan?”
When Ren Pengfei mentioned this person, his face was filled with anger. “He’s out messing around with those little thugs. If I had known…”
Ren Xin eagerly rubbed salt into Ren Pengfei’s wound. “If you had known what? If you had known things would turn out like this, would you not have had an affair? If you had known that mistress was into open relationships, would you have stayed with her? Or, if you had known, should you have just cut off your descendants?”
Ren Pengfei stared at Ren Xin in shock and anger. He hadn’t expected that, even now, Ren Xin still harbored such deep hatred for him.
Just as he was about to explain, Ren Xin impatiently interrupted him, “Don’t start with the confessions. Confessions are the most useless. Just get to the point.”
Ren Pengfei opened his mouth but no sound came out. After a while, he reluctantly said, “Wait for Sifan. I’ll explain everything to you both.”
Ren Xin didn’t really care, but this house was so filthy that she would need to disinfect herself thoroughly once she left.
Ren Pengfei cautiously asked Ren Xin, “Do you want to go see your grandmother?”
Ren Xin shook her head. What was there to see in that old witch? This person had been unfriendly to her mother and extremely picky about her as the original granddaughter.
There was no emotional attachment left.
Ren Sifan returned, cigarette in his mouth. When he saw Ren Xin, he seemed a bit awkward but quickly returned to his usual carefree demeanor.
He lazily asked, “Did someone die at home? What’s going on? I’m busy. By the way, Dad, can you give me some money? I need it!”
Ren Xin glanced at Ren Sifan, then lowered her head, playing with her fingers while waiting to hear Ren Pengfei’s speech.
“Sit down. I need to talk to you and Ren Xin about something.”
Ren Sifan sat down impatiently, looking like he was saying, “I’m busy, so hurry up.”
Ren Pengfei could no longer contain his anger and yelled, “Look at you now! You’re still young, and you should be focused on studying. But instead, you’re hanging out with those thugs. You’ll end up going down the wrong path sooner or later…”
Ren Xin interrupted him impatiently, “I didn’t come here to listen to you lecture your son. Just get to the point.”
Ren Pengfei, not at all bothered by being interrupted, smiled obsequiously at Ren Xin. “Ren Xin, actually, your mother and I always had a good relationship. I just went down the wrong path. Wang Qin disappeared, and I truly choose the wrong person. Sifan is innocent. You’re still young, and you need a complete family. Look at your mom…”
Ren Xin was completely dumbfounded. How could this person be so shameless?!
She quickly interrupted, “Wait, if I’m understanding this correctly, are you saying that you want to reconcile with my mom and have her accept this mess you’ve created, including this illegitimate son?”
Ren Pengfei confidently nodded. “Your mom still has feelings for me. As long as you agree, I’ll talk to her properly, and she’ll soften. I’ll also talk to Sifan. He’ll listen to your mom.”
This speech made Ren Xin feel utterly disgusted!
“My mom has already found another partner, a good one. I approve of him. You should just give up.”
Ren Pengfei’s face darkened. He whispered, “Is it the person she was talking to on the phone last time? I don’t mind. As long as she changes her mind, we can still be a family.”
Ren Xin: “………” This time, her speechlessness was laced with disgust.
Ren Xin stood up, coldly and indifferently saying, “Let’s stop talking about this. I’ve reached the point where I don’t even want to talk to you anymore. You and my mom can never be together. She’s doing fine. Do you know that her book has been published? And it’s been adapted into a film? She’s now a wealthy woman, and the man she’s with is younger than her. He’s highly educated, and he loves my mom very much. She’s happy. Please stop bothering her and don’t think about her anymore. You probably don’t understand, but I’m a very crazy person. My mom is my forbidden zone. It’s best if you don’t touch it!”
Ren Pengfei angrily shouted, “I’m your father!”
Ren Xin sneered, “I acknowledge you. You’re my father. But if you’re asking who you are, then you’re just a man who was good to my mom. I can recognize any man who’s good to my mom as my father. The title ‘father’ doesn’t mean much to me.”
Ren Xin turned to leave but paused. She turned to Ren Sifan, who was staring off into space on the sofa, and said, “You better start studying properly. Otherwise, you’ll never escape this disgusting family.”
With that, Ren Xin felt that she had truly been kind-hearted and quickly left.
This place? She might never come back, unless there was some kind of funeral.
