No one knows a child better than their father. Elder Su instantly understood the look on Su Mingyue’s face.
He rubbed his forehead helplessly. “What are you thinking? Wang Gang broke through today—he’s now at the Late Foundation Establishment Stage. Of course he’s qualified to enter the Inner Sect. I had to fight tooth and nail with the other elders to get him as my disciple.”
Hearing this, Su Mingyue gave Wang Gang another apologetic glance.
So she’d misunderstood. Who would’ve thought this silly guy had been cultivating so fast? Truly, you can’t judge a book by its cover.
Since they were now all on the same boat, Su Mingyue didn’t bother hiding anything from Wang Gang.
She opened her mouth and said, “Then, Dad, how about you take on another Outer Sect disciple as your direct disciple?”
Elder Su: “?”
“There’s this little junior brother… he looks so pitiful, barely gets enough to eat every day.” Su Mingyue lowered her head, a little embarrassed. “So I was hoping you could let him join Biluo Peak. That way, I can help look after him.”
Wang Gang: “Senior Sister, are you talking about Shen Xiu?”
Su Mingyue nodded. “That’s him.”
Wang Gang: “…”
Well damn, he didn’t even know what to say anymore. Senior Sister’s double standards were on full display.
He’d known her for so long, and not once had she ever offered to bring him into the Inner Sect.
But this junior brother she’d only just met a couple of days ago? And suddenly she’s pulling strings for him?
In that moment, Wang Gang’s mind raced with thoughts.
A wild idea popped into his head…
Could it be that Senior Sister has a thing for the junior brother?
He imagined the two of them standing side by side—honestly, they did look pretty good together.
And with Senior Sister’s wealthy background, Shen Xiu wouldn’t have to struggle anymore. The only question was whether it was mutual affection or if she was just forcing her love on him.
But from an outsider’s perspective, this was definitely a good thing for the junior brother.
The more he thought about it, the more he liked the idea, and a goofy grin spread across his face.
Wang Gang wholeheartedly approved of this match!
Elder Su noticed Wang Gang grinning like a fool and asked, confused, “Wait, you know this guy too?”
Snapping out of it, Wang Gang said, “Master, this is the junior brother I was just telling you about…”
Now Elder Su was even more curious. “This guy must be something else if both of you are so taken with him.”
Wang Gang nodded emphatically. “Junior Brother is the most important person in my life right now—no one else even comes close.”
Well then. He’d mastered the art of simping. Even when Shen Xiuyan wasn’t around, he was still licking those boots with dedication.
Su Mingyue shyly lowered her head. “I just… just thought he looked really pitiful…”
Elder Su’s heart skipped a beat when he saw her expression.
This wasn’t good. It felt like the cabbage he’d so carefully raised was about to be stolen by a pig.
Clutching his chest, Elder Su felt he needed a moment to recover.
But his daughter didn’t give him that chance. “Dad, if you don’t say anything, I’m taking it as a yes. I’m going to tell Junior Brother now!”
“Wait!” Elder Su quickly called out.
Su Mingyue: “?”
Elder Su hesitated for a moment. “He can come to Biluo Peak, but as an Outer Sect disciple, his cultivation isn’t high enough. I won’t take him as a direct disciple just yet—don’t want the other elders laughing at me for being too desperate.”
That was just an excuse. Seeing how head-over-heels his daughter was, Elder Su suspected she’d already fallen for the guy. He had to be cautious.
If he accepted the kid as a direct disciple now, it’d be hard to kick him out later.
Better to wait and see what kind of person he really was.
“Oh, okay.” Su Mingyue didn’t mind. After all, Junior Brother just wanted to join Biluo Peak. Whether or not he became her father’s disciple didn’t really matter.
She eagerly went to inform Shen Xiuyan. “Shen Xiu! My dad agreed—you can come to Biluo Peak!”
“Really?” Shen Xiuyan’s voice lit up with joy.
“Really! Come over now, I’ve already prepared your room.”
“Thank you, Senior Sister.”
Back at Heaven-Reaching Peak, Shen Xiuyan switched back to his alternate identity.
If this kept up, he was going to develop a split personality.
He made his way to Su Mingyue’s residence like he’d done it a hundred times, then knocked on her door.
“Senior Sister?”
With a creak, the door opened, and Su Mingyue stepped out.
“You’re here, Junior Brother. Let me take you to your room.”
Shen Xiuyan smiled, his eyes crinkling. “Thank you, Senior Sister.”
Su Mingyue looked at his smile and said a little sheepishly, “My dad agreed to let you join Biluo Peak, but he didn’t accept you as a direct disciple.”
Shen Xiuyan didn’t mind at all. Honestly, if he *had* been accepted as a direct disciple, things would’ve gotten really messy.
“I told you, I don’t need to be a direct disciple. I just want to be here at Biluo Peak and see you every day. I hope this didn’t cause you any trouble.”
“It was nothing, just a small favor.”
Su Mingyue smiled with her lips pressed together. She really couldn’t think of anyone more thoughtful than her little junior brother.
They arrived at a courtyard, and Su Mingyue pushed open the door to a room. “Here, this is your room. Do you like it?”
The room was lavishly decorated, every item inside looking expensive and carefully chosen. It stood in stark contrast to the simple, austere style of the other thirty-one peaks—clearly, someone had put a lot of effort into it.
Shen Xiuyan let out a surprised cheer. “Senior Sister, this room is beautiful! I love it!”
“I’m glad you do.” Su Mingyue felt a little proud. All the effort she’d just put into furnishing it had paid off.
“Oh, right, here.” She handed him a storage pouch. “Even though you’re not officially a Biluo Peak disciple yet, you should still get what everyone else does. These are the Spirit Stones that Biluo Peak disciples receive every month. This is your share for this month.”
“Thank you, Senior Sister.” Shen Xiuyan peeked inside—and holy crap, fifty high-grade Spirit Stones for one month? That was a lot.
Disciples from the outer peaks definitely didn’t know about this. If they did, Shen Xiuyan was sure they’d be lining up in droves to join Biluo Peak.
Although they didn’t care much for Spirit Stones, it wasn’t like they could ignore *this many* Spirit Stones.
Biluo Peak had really hidden them well.
“Then you stay here and rest. I’m heading back.”
“Bye, Senior Sister.”
Not long after Su Mingyue left, Wang Gang arrived with Elder Su in tow.
Elder Su was simply too curious—what kind of little demon—no, little junior brother—could possibly have bewitched his daughter so completely?
“Junior Brother!” Wang Gang called out excitedly.
Shen Xiuyan stood up. “You’re here too?”
Wang Gang explained, “After I took that Medicinal Pill you gave me, I broke through to the Foundation Establishment stage. The Sect Leader let me join the Inner Sect, and this is my Master, Elder Su of Biluo Peak.”
“Wow, not bad! You finally achieved your lifelong dream.” Shen Xiuyan chuckled and patted Wang Gang on the shoulder.
Then he turned to Elder Su and said politely, “Greetings, Elder Su.”
Elder Su’s mood improved instantly. At first, he’d thought Wang Gang’s desire to join Biluo Peak was just a passing whim, but it turned out to be his lifelong aspiration.
Not bad. This newly accepted disciple was quite promising.
Moved by the saying “love me, love my dog,” Elder Su’s attitude toward Shen Xiuyan also warmed considerably.
“So you’re that Shen Xiu, huh? From now on, make yourself at home on Biluo Peak. If you run into any trouble, you can come to me.”
Shen Xiuyan smiled faintly. “Thank you for your kindness, Elder.”
“Of course,” Elder Su replied. Seeing that Shen Xiu was respectful and composed, not the least bit flustered by his presence, he grew even more satisfied with the young man’s character.
His gaze drifted lightly to Shen Xiuyan’s face. With just one glance, he understood why his daughter had fallen so hard.
