Chapter 145: How Many Big Guys Can You Take On at Once?

Jiang Ning ended up recruiting over a dozen people in total.

Besides the few that Wang Chan selected for the food delivery, the remaining seven or eight were all assigned to roles within the factory.

The design department alone took in three new hires—all fresh graduates. For now, Zhu Le would be overseeing them.

Meanwhile, the R&D department was placed under Lin Ke’s management. He was also temporarily acting as the factory’s director.

As for the production department, since no products had been launched yet, it was temporarily placed under the care of Yu Lingling’s marketing and sales department. Once production officially began and more workers were hired, it would be restored to its own separate department.

Then there was the final and most critical department—Finance.

That responsibility fell to Secretary Wang Jianguo.

Truthfully, having Ms. Paparazzi in charge of finances wasn’t the ideal choice—it was more out of necessity. A position this sensitive couldn’t just be handed over to an outsider. Trust was a luxury, especially during the factory’s early stages.

And just like that, the half-day recruitment session came to a close.

The afternoon recruitment session? That was left to Wang Chan to handle, since Jiang Ning had something more pressing to attend to.

Top Entertainment’s company-wide meeting was set to begin at 2 PM.

All upper management and related personnel were required to attend.

Those unable to be there in person for special reasons had to join via video conference.

To be honest, Jiang Ning originally had no intention of attending. Her identity was… delicate. Plus, her contract had explicitly stated that she wouldn’t be forced to do anything she didn’t want to.

But then she heard from Liaoliao that someone might’ve already reached Jiangzhou, actively searching for “Jiang Jiang.”

She couldn’t help but feel a jolt in her heart.

Her mind instantly ran through several scenarios—including the possibility of taking a leave of absence from school and lying low at home.

But then Liaoliao offered up an idea that made Jiang Ning pause and think for quite a while.

    In the end, she agreed.

“Boss, where to now?” Wang Jianguo patted her slightly rounded belly with satisfaction and asked.

    “To an internet café.”

Jiang Ning, now full and content, reclined her seat and leaned back comfortably.

    “Got it, Boss.”

With that, the Chery-brand car sputtered back onto the road.

Honestly, it was lucky that traffic was light these days, mostly bikes. Otherwise, Wang Jianguo’s snail-paced vehicle wouldn’t have survived a second on the road.

If this were ten years later? Forget going 40 km/h—if you were doing 79 in an 80 zone, people would still be leaning on their horns behind you.

    “Hoooonk!!”

    “What, rushing to reincarnate?!”

Wang Jianguo rolled down her window and shouted back at the car behind them, hurling a stream of words in retaliation.

After cursing them out, she even helpfully threw up a middle finger.

She truly was the type to observe in all directions while cussing out anyone who got in her way.

Good thing most drivers wouldn’t bother picking a fight with a girl.

    Then again…

Come to think of it, Wang Jianguo’s combat ability was probably not something ordinary folks could handle anyway.

“Hey kid, got a question for you.”

    “Shoot, Boss.”

“How many big guys can you take on at once?”

    “What kind of big guys?”

Wang Jianguo’s counter-question made Jiang Ning think for a moment before saying:

“Like that one you beat up this morning during the interview.”

“Oh, just a regular adult guy around 1.8 meters tall?”

Wang Jianguo gave it some thought and replied bluntly:

“If they’re unarmed, I can take three or four—no problem.”

Three or four guys, each about 1.8 meters tall.

Forget Jiang Ning in this life—even in her previous life, when she herself was that height, there’s no way she could take on three guys her size barehanded.

    So yeah.

Wang Jianguo was really built different.

In that moment, Jiang Ning actually felt a strange sense of security.

Then again… that might’ve just been from the car’s slow but steady pace.

    Fifteen minutes later.

They arrived at the entrance of the Shenghua Internet Café in the city center.

After finding a parking spot, Jiang Ning and Wang Jianguo headed inside together.

As soon as they entered, Jiang Ning heard a voice that was all too familiar.

Following the sound, she saw a chubby young man at the entrance to the online gaming section. He had headphones on and was shouting at his screen:

    “Where’s the Taoist?!”

“Quick! Use the skeleton to clear out the mobs!”

“Warriors in the back, charge in with ‘Savage Assault’!”

“Mages follow up with ‘Firewall’ to clear the path!”

Listening to those nostalgic terms, Jiang Ning chuckled.

She handed Wang Jianguo her ID to go open a new account, then walked over to stand behind the chubby guy.

She reached over and lifted one side of his headphones.

“Hu Gugu, you’ve been doing pretty well in Legends, huh…”

At first, Hu Gugu was about to curse whoever took off his headphones, but then he heard that voice.

    He froze, instinctively turning around.

    “Jiang Ning?”

    “What are you doing here?”

Suddenly, a thought struck him. He craned his neck and scanned the room.

“Don’t tell me… Yao Yao sent you to catch me?”

“It was Li Mingwei last time—now it’s you?”

“But I’ve only been playing for one hour!”

Seeing Hu Gugu’s face full of despair, Jiang Ning didn’t know whether to laugh or get mad.

    “Oh, please.”

“I’m here on business. I don’t have time to catch you.”

Once he realized Jiang Ning really wasn’t here to bust him, Hu Gugu relaxed and turned back to his game, casually asking:

“Hero, this place doesn’t seem like somewhere you’d hang out.”

“What brings you to an internet café?”

    “None of your business!”

Then Jiang Ning suddenly thought of something, smiled, and waved him over.

“Actually, I do need a favor from you.”

Moments later, Wang Jianguo returned with a card that had a login account and password written on it.

Jiang Ning took the card, opened the terminal next to Hu Gugu’s, and sat down.

    She logged in.

Following Liaoliao’s instructions, she found a piece of software called “HaoChat.”

    Download. Log in.

But just before entering the conference room—

Jiang Ning pulled a mask out of her pocket that covered most of her face and put it on.

Once she was sure it was secure, she put on her headphones and clicked into the video meeting room.

At that moment, the Top Entertainment conference room was filling up.

Liaoliao sat in front of her computer, feeling an unshakable unease.

    So many people.

Which one of them was the leak?

Or rather—was it more than one?

The thought that some of these people could be publicly supporting the company’s plans while secretly helping rivals hunt down “Jiang Jiang” made Liaoliao deeply irritated.

Suddenly, the lights in the conference room dimmed.

A projection screen lit up, revealing the silhouettes of three people.

    From left to right:

Shen Weiwei in sunglasses, Chen Liren with his usual gentle smile, and “Jiang Jiang” wearing a fox mask.

Truthfully, of the twenty-plus people present, only Liaoliao had seen the infamous “Jiang Jiang” before.

Everyone else stared intently at the fox mask.

But after a few seconds, none of them could discern any details from the half-covered face—except perhaps the full, rounded lips, and a red sofa in the background.

Then, as the host of the meeting, Liaoliao began greeting the three on-screen figures one by one.

“Weiwei, are you still adjusting to the time difference? Sorry to disturb your rest.”

“It’s fine. The company’s business is my business,” Shen Weiwei replied, adjusting her smart glasses. Then she turned to the camera and gave a charming smile to the others.

“Hello, leaders and colleagues. I’m Shen Weiwei.”

“Very happy to be part of this meeting.”

Next up was the following person.

    “Morning, Brother Chen.”

On the other end of the video, the handsome man in his forties smiled and gave a small nod as a greeting.

Lastly, there was the masked ‘Jiang Jiang’.

Liao Liao recalled the conversation she’d had with the young woman earlier. Even with some mental preparation, she couldn’t help feeling a bit nervous.

“‘Jiang Jiang’, it’s your first time meeting everyone. How about saying hello?”

At that moment, it seemed the mic on the other end had just been turned on for the first time. With a burst of static, a voice as clear and crisp as a silver bell came through the microphone.

    “Hello everyone, I’m ‘Jiang Jiang’.”

    However—

Perhaps the background noise was too loud, but from time to time, some rather chaotic voices came through the mic—both male and female.

    “Watch those claws!”

“You just made my arm go numb!”

    …………

    “You little brat!”

    “I’ll cut you down!”

“Are you out of your mind?”

    …………

    “Ha-cha-cha.”

    “This girl’s real cute…”

Suddenly, a hand reached toward the headphone-wearing ‘Jiang Jiang’.

    Just as everyone was surprised—

The screen on ‘Jiang Jiang’s’ side went black.

Everyone in the meeting room was stunned.

Moments later, Liao Liao’s phone buzzed with a text.

She picked it up and, after reading, quickly turned to the others with an apologetic smile.

    “Sorry, everyone.”

“‘Jiang Jiang’ says there was a sudden power outage in her area.”

“If possible, she’s willing to participate in the meeting via phone call.”

    “What does everyone think?”
