Chapter 154: The Bootlicking Immortal Lord Who Wants to Live Off a Woman (Part 20)

Sect Master Xia rushed in, clearly in a hurry. “What happened? What’s going on here?”

The steward shot a glance at the disciple beside him, who immediately understood, bowed, and quietly took his leave.

Only then did the steward speak. “The one on the bed is Outer Sect Disciple Wang Gang. He was still at the Qi Refining Stage this morning, but now… he’s already at the Late Foundation Establishment Stage.”

“What?!” Sect Master Xia was stunned.

His poor heart—this was the second shock he’d suffered in a single day.

He immediately strode to the bedside and examined Wang Gang carefully. Sure enough, just as the steward had said, the disciple had indeed reached the Late Foundation Establishment Stage.

Such a cultivation speed was simply impossible—unless he’d used some kind of secret technique or a rare medicinal pill.

Sect Master Xia’s gaze swept across the bed, and sure enough, he spotted a porcelain bottle tucked in the corner.

He picked it up and brought it to his nose for a sniff.

    His expression froze.

This scent… it smelled like a Flying Spirit Pill?

How could a mere Outer Sect disciple possibly have a Flying Spirit Pill?!

This was a priceless treasure that couldn’t be bought even with Spirit Stones. Forget how rare the ingredients were—even the most skilled alchemists might blow up ten furnaces and still fail to produce a single pill.

Everyone knew how valuable it was, but no one could get their hands on it. It had already reached the point where even one pill was impossible to find.

After all, rapid cultivation was every cultivator’s dream.

No matter how high one’s cultivation was, who didn’t want to go even higher? Even if such a pill didn’t have much effect on them anymore, free cultivation gains were still gains!

“Ugh…” A groan came from the bed—Wang Gang was stirring, on the verge of waking.

When he finally opened his eyes in a daze, the first thing he saw was Sect Master Xia’s dark, brooding face.

    The sight startled him.

Why was the Sect Master here?

With a jolt, Wang Gang sat up straight like a carp flipping out of water.

He looked around, confused. What had just happened? Why had he suddenly passed out?

Oh, right—he’d taken a medicinal pill to cultivate.

    Wait, no… something felt off…

Why did the qi in his body feel so vigorous and abundant? Had he… broken through?

To the Late Foundation Establishment Stage?!

Was this some kind of joke?

At this point, Wang Gang couldn’t care less about the Sect Master’s presence. He frantically searched around, trying to find the porcelain bottle.

And there it was—in the Sect Master’s hand.

With a squeal of excitement, Wang Gang leapt forward and snatched the bottle, then began showering it with kisses.

Sect Master Xia’s brow twitched. He couldn’t bear to watch.

“Ahem.” The steward cleared his throat. “What do you think you’re doing? Do you not see the Sect Master standing right here?”

Snapping out of his excitement, Wang Gang immediately stood up straight and bowed. “Sect Master.”

Sect Master Xia asked, “What happened? How did you suddenly break through?”

Wang Gang scratched his head. “I took a medicinal pill and started cultivating… then somehow, I just broke through…”

Sect Master Xia’s expression grew even more serious. “I suggest you think carefully and tell me the full story—honestly. How did you get your hands on a Flying Spirit Pill?”

“F-Flying Spirit Pill?” Wang Gang trembled. “You’re saying… that’s what was in this bottle?”

A legendary item… actually inside this bottle?

    “You didn’t know?”

Wang Gang shook his head frantically. “I really didn’t, Sect Master. It was given to me yesterday by a junior disciple.”

Sect Master Xia didn’t believe it. Was that person an idiot? Who would just give away such a treasure instead of keeping it for themselves?

“Speak. Who was it? Name and surname. I want it clearly and exactly.”

Wang Gang scratched his head again. “His name is Shen Xiu.”

“?” Sect Master Xia’s eyes widened involuntarily.

Wang Gang continued, “It’s the same as the first two characters in the Ancestral Master’s name. The steward saw him yesterday too.”

Sect Master Xia turned to look at the steward.

The steward nodded. “Yes, I did see an Outer Sect Disciple named Shen Xiu yesterday.”

Sect Master Xia asked, “Which peak is he from? Go bring him here.”

He had a bad feeling about this…

The steward and Wang Gang exchanged a confused glance and both shook their heads. “Said he was a new disciple. I didn’t ask which peak…”

    “I didn’t ask either…” Wang Gang added.

Sect Master Xia let out a long sigh. How were they supposed to find him now? It was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

There were countless Outer Sect Disciples across the Thirty-Two Peaks. Was he supposed to have Wang Gang identify them one by one?

Seeing the Sect Master’s furrowed brow and the look on his face like he was about to punish someone, Wang Gang hurriedly said, “Sect Master, I agreed to meet him after lunch today to help clean the peak. He should be at the dining hall around noon.”

Sect Master Xia nodded, then tossed out a Sound Transmission Talisman. “Take this. The moment you see him, notify me immediately. Understood?”

    “Yes, Sect Master.”

Wang Gang understood the gravity of the situation. After all, jumping from Qi Refining to Foundation Establishment in one go was absurd. He didn’t blame the Sect Master for being suspicious—he was just as curious about what had happened.

As Sect Master Xia turned to leave, he didn’t forget to take the porcelain bottle from Wang Gang’s hands.

“There was only one pill, and I already ate it…” Wang Gang mumbled weakly.

That bottle had so much sentimental value—he’d wanted to keep it as a memento.

Sect Master Xia shot him a glare. “I’m not blind. This is evidence. I’m keeping it.”

“Yes, Sect Master…” Wang Gang replied, looking pitiful.

Sect Master Xia said, “By the way, since you’ve already reached the Foundation Establishment Stage, it’s no longer appropriate for you to remain in the Outer Sect. Get yourself ready—once this matter is settled, I’ll transfer you to the Inner Sect.”

Wang Gang was so excited he nearly jumped up. “Thank you, Sect Leader!”

After the Sect Leader left, the steward gave Wang Gang a firm pat on the shoulder and shot him a meaningful look before walking away, as if to say, “Kid, you’ve finally made it.”

Wang Gang stared at their retreating figures, unable to snap out of it for a long while. He had a strong feeling that his opportunity had finally arrived.

And he was determined not to let it slip through his fingers.

Though what exactly that opportunity was… he wasn’t quite sure. He thought he knew, but then again, maybe not…

Wang Gang glanced up at the sun. Though it wasn’t yet time for his meeting with Shen Xiu, he was so excited he felt like running laps around the mountain just to burn off the energy.

Unable to sit still any longer, he quickly straightened his clothes and headed toward the dining hall.

Might as well wait there. He wanted to see his great benefactor Shen Xiu the moment he arrived!

    *

After seeing Mingyue off, Shen Xiuyan felt like every second dragged on for eternity.

He cursed himself for being careless. If he’d known, he would’ve asked Mingyue to leave later. Then when he went to find Wang Gang, he could’ve escorted Mingyue back to Biluo Peak too.

That way, he could’ve used his alt identity to go with Wang Gang and help clean Biluo Peak.

He’d get to see Mingyue for most of the day—what a dream come true.

Plus, his main and alt personas had different appearances and personalities, so they wouldn’t clash. Between the two, he had all the traits Mingyue liked. Surely she’d be drawn to at least one of them.

Shen Xiuyan had everything planned to perfection.

He hadn’t given the slightest thought to the chaos that might ensue if his identities were ever exposed.

Right now, he was even righteously thinking, “If Shen Xiuyan’s cover gets blown in the future, what’s that got to do with me now?”

That’s right—he was shameless to the core. But hey, without a thick skin, how was he supposed to win over his wife?

Time ticked by, second by second. Suddenly, Shen Xiuyan’s eyes lit up. It was about time—time to go find Wang Gang.

His form shimmered and transformed, and in the blink of an eye, the charming, adorable young man from the day before reappeared.

In a single breath, he arrived at the entrance of the dining hall.

And there he was—Wang Gang, sitting idly by the door, looking bored out of his mind.

He walked up and greeted him, “Were you waiting for me?”

Wang Gang’s eyes lit up the moment he saw him. “Shen Xiu! You’re finally here!”

Shen Xiuyan asked, “Have you eaten yet?”

    Wang Gang shook his head.

Shen Xiuyan was shocked. What on earth had happened that made this glutton forget about food?

“Come on, let’s eat. Afterward, let’s try to head to Biluo Peak today, yeah?”

Wang Gang stared at him blankly, then nodded. “Whatever you say goes…”

As Shen Xiuyan turned around, Wang Gang secretly activated a Sound Transmission Talisman. The moment Sect Master Xia felt the talisman heat up, he knew Wang Gang was calling him.

He couldn’t sit still any longer. Without hesitation, he leapt to his feet and flew straight toward the Outer Sect disciples’ dining hall.
