She ruffled her little brother’s hair like she was venting something. “Alright, alright, your idol is the best, okay? I can’t win an argument with you.”
“Of course! He’s just that amazing.” The boy looked even happier than if someone had praised him directly.
But after the excitement wore off, he suddenly came to his senses. “Wait a minute, if my idol is at school, why am I still wasting time talking to you? I need to go find him! Who knows where he’s gone by now!”
Hearing this, the girl smirked proudly. “Beg me. I know where he is.”
She had four years of solid experience under her belt—when it came to Shen Xiuyan’s whereabouts, she knew them like the back of her hand.
Sure enough, her brother’s expression changed instantly. His smile couldn’t have been sweeter if he tried.
“Where is he? Where? You’re the best, sis! Take me to see him, please! I worked my butt off to get into Q University—wasn’t it all just for a chance to see my idol in person? Just this one tiny wish… you’re not gonna say no, are you?”
After soaking up enough of her brother’s flattery, the girl crooked her finger. “Follow me. I guarantee you’ll see him.”
The boy’s eyes lit up. He obediently took her bag and followed her eagerly toward the library.
Su Mingyue was about to graduate. With no more classes to attend, she spent most of her time holed up in the library working on her thesis.
The girl was also a senior, in the same situation as Su Mingyue. So the two saw each other almost every day.
And based on her four years of campus observation, while Shen Xiuyan might not always be with Su Mingyue, wherever Shen Xiuyan was, Su Mingyue was sure to be nearby.
Sure enough, when she brought her brother to the library, Shen Xiuyan was already sitting beside Su Mingyue, saying something that had her giggling nonstop. She was gathering her things from the table, clearly about to leave with him.
By now, the library was packed with people, all staring in the same direction.
Fortunately, Q University students were well-mannered and knew how to behave in a library—no one made a sound.
Or maybe it was because the bodyguards around Shen Xiuyan were just too intimidating. No one dared to approach.
The girl quickly led her brother forward. She was smart—she didn’t speak to Shen Xiuyan directly.
Instead, she smiled at the familiar Su Mingyue. “Mingyue, skipping the books today?”
“Got something going on, so no studying today. Good luck to you!” Su Mingyue gave her a cheerful thumbs-up. “Who’s this with you?”
The girl quickly introduced, “My younger brother. He just got into Q University this year. I’m showing him around a bit in advance.”
“A freshman, huh? You’ve got to work hard too!”
“Absolutely, absolutely.” The girl gave her brother a pat on the shoulder. “You probably don’t know this, but this brat is a huge fan of Shen Xiuyan.”
Su Mingyue’s interest was piqued. “Really? Kid’s got good taste!”
Shen Xiuyan also looked over, curious.
Feeling his idol’s gaze, the boy shivered.
Then, with great excitement, he blurted out, “I totally admire Professor Shen! He’s the guiding light in my life. I want to follow in his footsteps and bring glory to our country!”
Shen Xiuyan chuckled at that and gave the boy a friendly pat on the shoulder. “You’ve got ambition. I like that.”
The boy looked at Shen Xiuyan, then down at his shoulder, completely stunned.
His idol touched him!
He was never going to shower again!
The girl rolled her eyes at her brother’s petrified expression and shook her head helplessly. So easily satisfied.
Knowing when to stop, she said with perfect timing, “Alright, we won’t keep you. You two go on.”
Su Mingyue waved, “Bye!”
“Bye!”
After they walked away, the boy finally snapped out of it.
Grabbing his sister’s hand, he grinned like a fool. “Sis, you’re my goddess! I can’t believe you actually know my idol’s girlfriend! You kept that secret tight. But thank you! I actually got to talk to him today—and he even praised me! Hehehe…”
The girl pulled her hand away, looking a bit disgusted.
She knew this would happen.
Great. Another one gone mad.
Su Mingyue and Shen Xiuyan strolled hand-in-hand through campus, drawing stares from everyone they passed.
There was no helping it—Shen Xiuyan was just too famous at Q University. Wherever he went, he was like a walking zoo exhibit.
He was used to it by now.
But the students still weren’t. They whispered among themselves:
“It’s been four years already, right? How are they still not sick of each other? Still so lovey-dovey.”
“Yeah, I’ve been force-fed their PDA for four years. I’m so done.”
“Hahaha, come on. Su Mingyue’s graduating soon. You won’t even get to see them anymore.”
“That’s true… but isn’t she going to the research institute after graduation? Poor folks over there. Four years wasn’t enough—now they’ll probably have to keep watching forever.”
“Hahahaha, tragic—whoa, what the hell?!”
They were walking and chatting, completely absorbed, when they suddenly turned their heads and saw a woman standing under a tree, her face twisted in rage. The sight gave them a fright—one of them almost thought he’d seen a ghost in broad daylight.
He frowned. “Who the hell is that? Standing there like a lunatic. Maybe she really is mentally unstable. Let’s get out of here before she stabs someone or something. No one’s gonna believe us if that happens.”
His friend was also startled. That expression really was creepy.
After they’d walked far enough that the woman was out of sight, the friend finally spoke in a low voice, “You don’t know her? She’s the one who spread rumors in freshman year that Professor Shen and Su Mingyue had broken up. Made it sound so real, like she had insider info.”
“Oh, her! Yeah, I remember now. The one who couldn’t get what she wanted. Professor Shen barely even spoke to her, but somehow she got herself tangled up in the gossip. What bad luck. I remember that rumor really caught on back then.”
“Exactly. And come on, just look at how clingy Shen Xiuyan is—does he seem like the type to fall for someone else?”
“Hahaha, true. It’s moments like this that remind us Professor Shen is human too. He’s got feelings and desires like the rest of us. Otherwise, he’d be too perfect to be real.”
And so, Shen Xiuyan’s almost superhuman brilliance—and his hopelessly lovestruck nature—had become common knowledge across campus.

Inside the research institute, Su Mingyue said timidly, “Is this really okay…”
They wanted her to be the first to ride this fighter jet. Did she hear that right?
With everyone watching her, her face turned bright red, as if fate itself had seized her by the throat.
She even thought she spotted a high-ranking official among the crowd…
With the big boss watching, and she was supposed to get in and ride it?
Was she trying to end her career before it even started?
Su Mingyue didn’t dare say a word.
She trembled like a leaf.
Yep. That phone call had come too late.
By the time Dean Qiu finally rushed over to notify her, the top official was already on the way.
