Chapter 127: Educated Youth Who Abandoned His Wife and Child – 59

Supervisor Jia still had the nerve to struggle. “What are you doing?! This is outrageous! We haven’t been dismissed yet—how dare you try to kick us out?!”

The security guard gave him a friendly smile, but his grip only tightened. “Please don’t make things harder for us.”

He had figured it out—after today, this factory manager and supervisor would be history. The state would definitely send someone new to take over.

They wanted to keep their jobs, so they knew exactly who they could afford to offend—and who they couldn’t.

Did these guys really think everyone was as stupid as them?

Though the security guards were all smiles, they didn’t go easy. In no time, the two were shoved out of the factory gates.

Factory Manager Dai collapsed to the ground like all the strength had been drained from his body. He clutched his hair with both hands.

    It’s over. Everything is over…

Half a lifetime of hard work had become a joke, undone so easily by that idiot.

That idiot still didn’t seem to get it. He helped Factory Manager Dai up and said, “Brother-in-law, let’s go home first. Who laughs last is still up in the air. You’ve poured your life into this factory—how could they just kick you out with a few words?”

Factory Manager Dai let out a cold laugh, then suddenly yanked off his belt and swung it at Supervisor Jia.

“This is all your fault! We’re finished, do you get it? Finished!!!”

“Brother-in-law, stop! Don’t hit me, it’s not over yet!”

“Hahaha, not over? What do you know? Did you see the level of security around Shen Xiuyan? Tell me, what kind of people get that kind of treatment?”

For once, Supervisor Jia was silent.

Factory Manager Dai continued, “Forget what he’s working on—if you were a high-ranking official, who would you value more? A scientist developing tech for the country, or a factory manager?!”

“And what do you think they’ll assume? If we dare to pull this kind of stunt now, what about before? You think we haven’t done worse?”

This time, Supervisor Jia was truly afraid—fear that came from deep in his bones.

Looking back, if all they got was dismissal, that might be the best possible outcome.

But if they were held accountable… prison was all but certain.

After all, no one could survive a full investigation. They’d pulled this kind of crap more times than they could count.

Supervisor Jia collapsed to the ground, paralyzed with fear.

    It’s over. Really over.

Once the two were removed, Shen Xiuyan clapped his hands.

“Xiao Wang, you’ve got the makings of a Domineering CEO. That stance just now—very King Liang Po vibes.”

“Huh? King Liang Po?” Wang Hua tilted his head, confused.

He could sort of guess what a Domineering CEO was, but this “King Liang Po” thing? No clue.

Shen Xiuyan burst out laughing. How did Wang Hua’s icy aura vanish so completely in an instant?

He waved it off. “Don’t worry about it. It’s a compliment.”

“Okay.” Wang Hua grinned. “I haven’t finished up here yet, and I need to report to the higher-ups to handle today’s situation. From here on, they’ll accompany you to see the house.”

Shen Xiuyan nodded. “Thanks for all your hard work.”

Wang Hua shook his head. Hard work? This was serving the people!

Shen Xiuyan read the meaning in his expression and felt a surge of respect. Truly a man of his time—such high ideological awareness.

Shen Yuanming, standing off to the side, had been stunned into silence by the whole scene.

He’d heard before that his little brother was doing R&D and had even invented something as valuable as a color TV.

But he hadn’t realized just how respected he was. He suddenly looked at Shen Xiuyan with a tinge of awe.

Shen Xiuyan acted like he didn’t notice and casually slung an arm around Shen Yuanming’s shoulder. “Come on, let’s go. I came to pick you up today, didn’t expect to catch such a dramatic show. What a waste of time.”

That familiar gesture and relaxed tone made Shen Yuanming finally breathe a sigh of relief.

No matter how impressive he’d become, he was still the same little brother he knew.

But that relief lasted less than a second—because then he saw the car parked nearby…

Wait a minute. He needed a moment. His little brother had a private car now?!

Something clicked in his mind. He leaned in close to Shen Xiuyan and whispered, “Xiuyan, be honest with me. What exactly are you doing? You’ve got military escorts and now a private car…”

Shen Xiuyan rubbed his nose sheepishly. “Just working on some small projects.”

Shen Yuanming didn’t believe a word of it.

If it were really just about inventing appliances, there’s no way the security would be this tight.

“Oh, come on.” Shen Xiuyan patted his shoulder. “Don’t ask. It’s not something I can talk about right now. You’ll find out eventually.”

That actually made Shen Yuanming feel better. It confirmed what he’d suspected.

His little brother was definitely involved in something big. He felt a deep sense of pride—this was the brilliant little brother he’d always known.

If Shen Xiuyan knew what he was thinking, he’d be shaking his head. That brother-worship filter of yours is hopeless. From childhood to now? Please, the smart one’s always been me!

“Alright, I won’t ask. I believe in you—you’re the best.”

“Yeah yeah, now hurry up and get in the car.” Shen Xiuyan pushed him in with a helpless smile.

Inside the car, Shen Yuanming couldn’t stop touching everything. It was his first time riding in a private car, and everything felt novel and exciting.

Shen Xiuyan watched him with a fond smile. He couldn’t help it—he still hadn’t shaken off the habit of being the older brother.

He said, “Like it? I’ll get you one in a bit.”

    Shen Yuanming: “…”

Oh my god. His little brother really had some nerve. This was a car, not something you could just buy on a whim.

Besides, didn’t you need ration tickets for this kind of thing?

    He was curious.

But before he could ask, Shen Xiuyan spoke again. “Do you know why I came to get you today?”

Shen Yuanming shook his head dumbly.

Shen Xiuyan said, “To look at houses. After we’re done, you and Mom and Dad can start packing. We’re moving.”

A question mark practically popped up over Shen Yuanming’s head.

Wait, moving? Something that big, and you didn’t even talk to the family about it first?

    And house viewing? Where?

He gasped. “You bought a house?!”

Shen Xiuyan waved his hand. “Didn’t buy it. The state gave it to us.”

Shen Yuanming took a deep breath and told himself to stay calm. This was his beloved brother—if he broke him, he wouldn’t have another.

Then he gritted his teeth and said, “You didn’t think to tell Mom and Dad about something this big? What if they faint from the shock?”

“It’s fine. Mingyue didn’t have class today, she’s already gone over. She’ll explain everything in advance.”

Shen Xiuyan was totally unconcerned. With their parents’ strong hearts, something this minor wouldn’t faze them.

Shen Yuanming was speechless. Your idea of “in advance” and mine are clearly not the same.

Since when does “after everything’s already settled” count as advance notice?
