    Chapter 180: Robbing the Robbers

In a makeshift Bandit Den six miles away, Bai Yunqi sat among several chests of gold and jewels. Though he was only an eight-year-old child, he exuded the air of a boss, lounging casually as he watched the bandits trapped in the mist.

The mist swirled around, causing everyone to wander in circles, with terrifying sounds echoing in their ears. Without shedding blood, he used mental attacks to torment them into despair.

Picking through the wooden chests of jade, he absorbed them on the spot. Without a Storage Artifact, how else could he carry all these back?

Feeling the abundant Spiritual Energy within him, Bai Yunqi’s face showed a satisfied expression.

    What a rush!

The sensation of having abundant Spiritual Energy was simply exhilarating. He had grown quite fond of these little gold pieces and jade stones.

Looking at the remaining copper coins in the chest and the bandits in the mist, Bai Yunqi blinked.

Should he just kill them all?

If these bandits were left alive and saw the empty chests, wouldn’t they go mad? They would only become more ruthless, bullying and robbing passersby even more.

But killing them all seemed a bit too cruel.

Bai Yunqi thought for a moment, then picked out three bandits, binding them with mist and even using Spiritual Power to carry them like dead pigs to a spot near their resting area.

As Bai Yunqi brought them nearby, Bai Yun’an, who had been sleeping, fluttered his eyelashes slightly.

    Tsk.

About to wake up again, can’t even get a good night’s sleep.

Bai Yunqi quietly sneaked back, lay down to sleep, and then released the three bandits bound with Spiritual Power. This way, the Mu Family Army wouldn’t suspect him.

Not long after, apart from the sleeping Bai Tian and Juanjuan, Jiang Dai and the others heard the commotion from the Mu Family Army’s side.

Bai Yunxing got up and looked at his cousin. “What’s going on?”

“Nothing much, just three bandits who seemed scared out of their wits. They ran to the Mu Family Army for help. Bandits seeking help from the Mu Family Army, that’s something you don’t see every day.”

Hearing his cousin’s words and recalling the mysterious Eldest Brother who seemed to have gone out for a stroll, Bai Yunxing felt like he had figured something out.

It was probably his Eldest Brother’s doing, wasn’t it?

The Mu Family Army didn’t want the bandits’ presence to disturb the Bai Family’s rest, so they handled it a bit further away. This made it convenient for those still awake to gather around Bai Yunqi and start gossiping and questioning.

Bai Yunqi looked at his mother, pointing at his two wide-awake twin brothers who were also watching him. “Mom, did you tell them?”

“Eldest Brother, do we look stupid to you?” Bai Yun’an asked with a smile.

Everyone had come clean, so who wouldn’t know by now?

Oh, right. He hadn’t come clean yet, but that wasn’t important.

    Bai Yunqi: …

Well, no, these two brothers certainly weren’t stupid.

Bai Yunxing asked, “Eldest Brother, what’s the deal with the bandits?”

“Tsk, it’s nothing much,” Bai Yunqi waved his hand, speaking casually.

“I just felt a strong Spiritual Energy fluctuation over there, so I went to check it out and absorbed some Spiritual Energy. But I didn’t know what to do with the bandits, so I brought them over, thinking the Mu Family Army has experience dealing with bandits…”

Bai Yunxing said, “So, Eldest Brother, you robbed the robbers and then let the Mu Family Army do the heavy lifting?”

Bai Yunqi raised an eyebrow and pulled his second brother into a hug, as if to say, “If you put it that way, we’re getting distant.”

“Brother, you can’t put it like that. The Mu Family Army isn’t after money. They’re after peace for the people. Besides, I left plenty of copper coins…”

    Bai Yunxing: …

It made some sense, but why did it feel like Eldest Brother was so good at taking advantage of others?

Jiang Dai chimed in, “So you’re like a radar, able to detect Bandit Dens as long as they’re not too far away, and always accurately.”

“Bandit Dens usually have plenty of gold and jewels. Does that mean we could get rich?”

As Jiang Dai finished speaking, the three sons all looked at her.

Bai Yunxing said, “Once or twice is fine, but if it happens too often, my cousin will get suspicious.”

Bai Yunxing understood clearly that his parents were his family, not his cousin’s. His cousin was his family, not his parents’. Their secrets couldn’t be exchanged, that was fundamental.

Bai Yunqi said, “It could work in the future, but probably not on the way to Jingcheng. I doubt there are many bandits along the route, and I can’t sense anything beyond ten miles.”

Bai Yunqi didn’t think he’d encounter much. The purpose of this journey was to reach Jingcheng, and the route was mostly fixed. He could only sense nearby Spiritual Energy, and it had to be quite prominent.

Jiang Dai patted her eldest son’s shoulder. “No worries. If you come across them, great. If not, your father and I will earn money in Jingcheng to support you!”

Bai Yunqi nodded gratefully at his mother, then turned to Bai Yunxing. “If your family ever needs someone taken care of, I can take the job. Prices are negotiable, and satisfaction is guaranteed.”

Bai Yun’an curiously asked, “Eldest Brother, you’re so amazing. When we get to Jingcheng, where there’s plenty of gold and jewels, would you still need to charge Second Brother a commission?”

Bai Yunqi sighed wearily. “Every action has its consequences. If I get too reckless, I fear this world won’t tolerate me.”

As he spoke, Bai Yunqi pointed a finger towards the sky.

    Everyone knew what that meant.

Even those among them who never believed in ghosts and spirits felt a bit uneasy, considering their whole family had crossed over together.

Throughout the night, only Bai Tian and Juanjuan slept well. The Mu Family Army had been busy all night.

Bai Yunqi felt a bit guilty watching the Mu Family Army, who had barely slept, and rubbed his nose sheepishly.

【Next time I rob bandits, I should leave more gold for the Mu Family Army. Otherwise, it’s a bit unethical, making them work all night for nothing.】

Juanjuan, munching on a biscuit: ?

The child recalled the words she seemed to hear in a dream while sleeping last night.

Could it be it wasn’t a dream, and Eldest Brother really went… to rob bandits last night?

    Robbing, bandits.

Juanjuan thought it was kind of cool. Eldest Brother was indeed impressive.

Bai Yunqi turned and saw his little sister looking at him with bright eyes, seemingly full of admiration.

Bai Yunqi’s lips curved slightly, and he confidently shifted his gaze, thinking he looked quite handsome.

【My sister knows nothing, yet she looks at me with admiration. Bai Yunqi… you’re just so amazing!】

    Juanjuan: Eldest Brother… never mind.

The little one lowered her head and continued munching on her biscuit.

To be honest, Eldest Brother was indeed impressive, but Juanjuan wasn’t afraid of him. Maybe it was because Eldest Brother was usually like Da Chui.
