Chapter 17: The Scumbag CEO’s Pursuit (Part 8)

    Lu Wanrong escaped again.

As dawn broke, she hastily gathered her clothes from the floor, dressed carelessly, and slipped away quietly in a ride-share car.

The night before, they had been tangled up until the early hours, and she was at a loss as to how it happened—how she could, in a heated moment, fall into an encounter with Yu Liuxue once more. Lu Wanrong sighed softly; she originally intended to distance herself from Fu Yu, yet found herself ever more deeply entangled.

She relaxed her body, pinched the bridge of her nose, and leaned against the car window.

About half a month ago, Lu Wanrong had moved into a new place from Lu Qian’s home. Zhang Guilan, upon hearing, insisted fervently that Lu Qian move out of her rented apartment to live with Lu Wanrong. In deference to her mother, Lu Wanrong agreed.

The key turned in the lock, revealing the lit living room, and Lu Wanrong’s cool gaze fell upon Lu Qian. “Haven’t slept?”

Lu Qian’s eyes flickered; she quickly set her phone down and approached, asking, “Sis, you didn’t come home all night. Where were you?”

Lu Wanrong didn’t reply. Lu Qian continued, “How did the divorce with Fu Yu go? Did she agree? When will you get the divorce certificate?”

“None of your business.” An icy edge crept into Lu Wanrong’s expression. Assuming the negotiations hadn’t gone well, Lu Qian ventured, “If Fu Yu proves difficult, I’ll ask Uncle Lin for help. With his influence, dealing with someone like Fu Yu is a piece of cake…”

Lu Wanrong quickly turned, “Which Uncle Lin?”

“The one you met, Uncle Lin Hong…”

When Yu Liuxue awoke, daylight already flooded the room. She reached beside her.

    The spot was empty.

    The pillow was cold.

Yu Liuxue shot up straight. “Did Lu Wanrong ditch me again?”

The system coughed softly, remarking, “I think the term ‘casual fling’ better fits.”

Just what kind of rogue protagonist was this, always pulling the ‘love and leave’ act?

Yu Liuxue’s lips involuntarily twitched, and the system continued, “Host, consider this a heads-up: Lu Qian is planning to trick the protagonist into meeting Lin Hong.”

“That scoundrel Lin Hong, not even the male lead, dares to steal my woman?!” Alarmed, Yu Liuxue leaped up, fetching from the floor the thin panties Lu Wanrong had tossed during their night. Seeing them, she tossed them back with a shrug.

“Never mind, I’ll wear my new temptation.”

She slid one foot into a slipper while stepping barefoot into the bathroom, turning on the shower. “Back then, even the male lead failed to beat me. Lin Hong is out of his depth.”

The system tutted disdainfully, “You just crave the protagonist’s body.”

“No, I crave her skilled techniques.”

    System: “…” Such scandalous talk.

Without the mention of Lu Qian, Yu Liuxue might have forgotten all about her. The original character had a relative with an entertainment company, and with Lu Qian’s vanity, putting her in showbiz for some polishing wasn’t out of the question.

After contacting her relative, Yu Liuxue went to visit Zhang Guilan, who was recovering post-surgery.

“Mom, the job I promised for Qianqian has a lead. Look at her, so beautiful and smart; I’m planning to make her a star. The company belongs to my aunt, reliable for sure. What do you think?”

Overjoyed at the prospect of her daughter becoming famous, Zhang Guilan replied, “Being a star is great! Think of the family’s pride!”

“But…” Hesitating, she asked, “How much could she earn each month?”

Yu Liuxue chuckled, “That depends on Qianqian’s effort. With hard work, she might earn millions monthly.”

Such astronomical figures left Zhang Guilan’s hands shaking with excitement, so much she fought to contain her glee. “Xiaoyu, I can’t thank you enough for helping Qianqian.”

Why thank me? I should thank your whole family.

“However, mom, Qianqian seems to harbor some resentment towards me. I’m afraid she won’t listen if I bring this up…”

    “I’ll speak to her!”

Placing her phone down, Yu Liuxue leisurely donned a ring, her smile laced with deeper meaning.

Having arranged to meet both lawyers at noon today for their divorce discussion, she felt somewhat cheated.

Besides Mu Huan, she hadn’t mentioned the divorce to anyone, so when he volunteered to drive her, she accepted.

    “Alright.”

Bringing along the lawyer, Yu Liuxue headed to the meeting place.

Having been some time since they’d seen each other, Lu Wanrong, dressed sharply in formal attire, looked clean and pristine in her white shirt. Given the warmth of the coffee shop, she removed her jacket and seated herself across from Yu Liuxue.

Studying her apparel piqued Yu Liuxue’s interest; it had been some time since she’d seen her in professional attire, offering a different allure. Lu Wanrong’s long hair was elegantly up, blending grace with authority, starkly contrasting her disheveled allure in last night’s passion.

Her gaze dropped to where Lu Wanrong had buttoned her shirt to the very top.

Cradling her chin, Yu Liuxue smirked—such pretense.

Yet last night, she’d undressed her with utmost proficiency.

Perhaps noticing her intent gaze, faint blush touched Lu Wanrong’s earlobes. Casting a glance at her lawyer, he began to speak. Naturally, neither needed to personally handle the nitty-gritty; the lawyers engaged in a vigorous exchange, unwilling to concede.

After ten minutes, restless, Yu Liuxue gestured with her chin, inviting Wanrong, “Shall we step outside for a chat?”

Lower lashes fluttered as Lu Wanrong lowered her gaze, “Alright.”

Leading her to the restroom rather than anywhere else, Yu Liuxue found it lavishly decorated. A small side door—likely a changing room—remained open. Seeing Lu Wanrong hesitate, she was coaxed inside, “Walls have ears. Let’s talk in here.”

    Inside?

    In the barely two-square-meter room?

    Her heart drummed in anticipation.

Moistening suddenly dry lips, she wavered, unaware Yu Liuxue would boldly pull her in, clicking the lock shut.

Temperature rapidly rose within the small space, with Lu Wanrong backing against the wall. Suppressing laughter, Yu Liuxue blinked innocently, teasing, “Wanrong, no need to be tense. We’ve been here before.”

Heat swept across Lu Wanrong’s face.

Close proximity brought a blend of each other’s fragrance.

Momentarily dazed, Lu Wanrong noticed Yu Liuxue wore a different, more entrancing scent.

Settling into seriousness, Yu Liuxue stood opposite, inquiring, “Wanrong, have you thought of what comes after divorce?”

    “What happens to me?”

Turning away from Yu Liuxue’s encroaching presence, Wanrong replied, “We each have jobs; things should go on as they would.”

“Besides,” she paused, “with your multitude of lovers, you won’t lack company.”

Each charmed with gentle words, didn’t divorcing Fu Yu suit her wishes all the more?

“Wanrong, you should know better than anyone that I haven’t been with other women lately.”

Detecting her softening stance, Yu Liuxue pressed on, “Wanrong, if any rumors about me arise again, I, Fu Yu, will leave with nothing, never to pester you again.”

With Yu Liuxue’s enticing proposition, Lu Wanrong found herself muddledly agreeing to give their relationship a chance.

With issues resolved, Yu Liuxue shifted topics, “Wanrong, it’s just us here.”

    Why mention that?

“Don’t you want to do something special?”

Feigning innocence, she lifted the hem of her dress, exposing a strikingly pale flash across Wanrong’s view.

«The author intended to detail the intimate encounter but held back, mindful of constraints.»

Over half an hour later, returning with rosier cheeks, Yu Liuxue found the lawyer waiting, “Miss Fu, Miss Lu, negotiations concluded…”

“Thanks for your effort, but we won’t be divorcing.”

Taken aback, Lawyer Wang queried, “Why?”

With narrowed eyes, Yu Liuxue countered, “What do you think?”
