Chapter 31: Interstellar World (End of Arc)

“Technology changes lives.” Lin Yuetian commented as he watched the various fragments of flesh and shell, blasted into the sky, now raining down like a bloody meteor shower.

The once pure white, three-meter-tall statue of the Emperor was now almost entirely red. Blood rained down in torrents, mixed with solid chunks. Though there were hardly any living people left at the scene, the few survivors couldn’t escape the psychological trauma of witnessing such a sight—take Crown Prince George, for example. His dazed yet terrified expression, the way he looked at Lin Yuetian as though he were both a lunatic and a cosmic monster, all made it clear how severely he had been mentally shaken.

As for the livestream comments? They had completely frozen.

The wedding had taken place. The wedding had been interrupted. A dramatic “human transformation” act had occurred. The Broodmother had appeared. The nobles present had been eaten and slaughtered. Admiral Vincent had married that commoner. Admiral Vincent had been killed. The Broodmother had been destroyed.

All of this had been orchestrated by that atrophied-gland, remote-planet commoner—what the hell!! Where in the depths of which interstellar black hole did this commoner come from?? How could a commoner cause such a massive upheaval??? Is this even reasonable???

    【Holy shit……………】

【Today has been the most eventful day of my life………】

【I really get to see this for free…?】

【Who am I, where am I, what did I just witness, what is happening to this world】

【So… does this mean… at least we don’t have to worry about… fifty-plus elite Zerg entering the capital now…?】

【Not just that… the Broodmother is gone, the Zerg are basically crippled for the next hundred years…】

【What the hell was this commoner thinking?? What is his goal??? This is insane, absolutely insane…】

【Is no one concerned about what he said about Class A banned drugs?? How does such a drug even exist?? Weren’t they all destroyed a hundred years ago?? Why is there still a market for them? Who is buying them?? Who has betrayed humanity??】

【Does no one care about Admiral Vincent…? He’s dead… Our Nas Empire has no more S-Class now… Are we really doomed…?】

【The Broodmother is gone, the Zerg are crippled, but Admiral Vincent is also dead. Was all of this really worth it…?】

    【Well… personally, I think… it was kinda worth it…】

    【Don’t ask me anymore… I… I don’t know anything anymore…】

“It’s getting bizarre… it’s getting bizarre…” The system despaired as it stared at the blood-red world before it, feeling an overwhelming sense of cold and dread—like floating in the Pacific Ocean for ten years straight. “It’s getting too bizarre.”

“Really? I think it’s fine,” Lin Yuetian told the system. “I thought you’d be used to this by now, that you’d have a more vivid imagination about what could happen at a wedding, and wouldn’t be so shocked anymore.”

“Heh, heh,” the system replied darkly. “Do you think everyone is like you? Even if you know horror movies rely on the same scare tactics, even if the comments warn you about upcoming jump scares, when the face suddenly pops up, you still get startled, okay?”

“Well… keep working on it.” Lin Yuetian comforted it gently.

“If you really cared about me, you would stay away from all this bloodshed and carnage,” the system said in utter despair. “Or, big brother, how about you see a therapist? I’ll find one for you, I’ll help you look, I’ll even pay for it. I’m not scared, I’ve been professionally trained, we don’t get scared. I’m just concerned for my colleague, do you understand? If you don’t get help soon, it might be too late!”

“I’m really fine, I’m very healthy.” Lin Yuetian declared confidently, ignoring the system’s wails.

Of course, perhaps because everything had been so overwhelming, people had momentarily forgotten about Baron Sala. The Broodmother, instructed by Lin Yuetian beforehand not to kill Baron Sala, had instead stuffed him into its abdominal nest.

Unfortunately, when the Broodmother was blown apart, Baron Sala—being near the bomb’s epicenter (the stomach area)—was not spared and was blasted into a gruesome rain of blood and flesh. Now, the once-glorious “Flower of Nas,” Baron Sala, had met an unceremonious end. Looking at the scattered remains all over the ground, Lin Yuetian figured no one could tell which piece was from the Broodmother, which was Baron Sala, and which was one of the fifty-plus elite Zerg larvae inside the Broodmother’s belly.

Thus, when the Broodmother exploded, the system immediately announced that Task One—revenge on the Baron—had been completed.

With that, all three of the original host’s wishes had been fulfilled. Lin Yuetian felt refreshed, taking a deep breath of the fresh, blood-scented air of freedom. He no longer cared about Prince George’s vacant expression or the stunned reactions in the comment section. Summoning his mech’s spaceship mode, he took off immediately—activating stealth mode as he left.

As for the Nas Empire, despite its advancements, its reliance on individual combat power had only declined over time. By now, they had produced only two S-Class fighters: Admiral Vincent, who had been blasted to death by Lin Yuetian’s cannon because he wasn’t wearing his mech at his wedding, and the original host, who had been downgraded to A-Class after having his glands removed. (This alone showed how much the Nas Empire neglected individual combat power; perhaps they had produced S-Class individuals before, but they either couldn’t rise to prominence or couldn’t keep their glands intact.)

On top of that, many of their key soldiers had been devoured by the Broodmother at the wedding. With no real obstacles left, Lin Yuetian’s escape was completely unimpeded, and he quickly fled beyond the Nas Empire’s domain.

    ———

The universe was vast, and while the Nas Empire was the largest human faction, it certainly couldn’t govern everywhere.

After hopping through several star systems and reaching the safety of lawless space, Lin Yuetian set himself up as a space mercenary. Given his legitimate combat training, formal military background, strong mental power, high-grade mech, deep experience as an assassin, and interstellar-wide infamy, he was highly sought after among space pirates, bandits, and mid-to-small factions. Lin Yuetian never had to worry about making a living—if anything, he was practically drowning in wealth.

Not to mention, the sum of money he extorted from Crown Prince George back then was astronomical. It was an amount so ridiculously high that no ordinary person could possibly gather it, only someone like the Nas Empire’s first-in-line heir.

This interstellar world had been traversing the cosmos for so long that technology was incredibly advanced, making it an ideal place to enjoy life. Lin Yuetian lived here comfortably until he was over seventy years old. Although he remained the undisputed, untouchable number one on the Nas Empire’s most-wanted list until the day he left, it never really affected his daily life—perhaps because his reputation and deeds were so terrifying that no one dared to go after him.

The only thing that stopped Lin Yuetian from staying in this world until the average lifespan of 120 was… the fact that, as an Omega who had undergone gland removal—he still had heat cycles! Though he remained calm and composed about it, and his strong mental power kept him from losing control, there was still the undeniable fact that—

“I feel uncomfortably wet,” Lin Yuetian explained to the system.

“For the love of god, big bro, I don’t want to hear this,” the system replied, sounding as though it was about to drop to its knees in prayer. “Big bro, you’re amazing, I bow to you, I really bow to you—I am no longer mentally equipped to hear such reproductive-related terms coming out of your mouth. It makes me feel like I’m watching a cult horror film, while simultaneously shattering my perception of you, and causing severe cognitive dissonance. Please, big bro, just stop talking…”
