    Chapter 4: Annoying Classmate

When Wang Zekai found out that this beautiful girl was Jiang Ning, he stood there in a daze for quite a while.

It wasn’t until his classmates nudged him that he finally snapped out of it.

Then, his eyes locked onto Jiang Ning’s delicate profile, filled with deep admiration.

However, Wang Zekai didn’t show it outwardly. After a few more glances, he withdrew his gaze.

Clapping his hands, he addressed the classmates present:

“Everyone, pause for a moment and listen to me.”

Hearing this, Jiang Ning also shifted her attention away from Luo Shanshan and the others, turning her head to look at Wang Zekai.

Looking at this somewhat familiar figure, memories gradually surfaced in Jiang Ning’s mind.

Wang Zekai, the class president for all three years of middle school.

Outgoing personality, high-profile in his actions.

He had also gotten into Jiangzhou No.1 High School, but in her past life, they weren’t in the same class.

On top of that, their personalities didn’t match, so they never really hung out.

However, she had heard that his family was well-off, owning two automobile parts processing factories.

A minor rich second generation, so to speak.

And he had done some rather notorious things in high school.

The most high-profile incident was in his first year—he pursued an upperclassman by buying every single rose from the flower shops around the school and confessed at the school gate.

The result? The confession failed, and the next day, he was beaten up by an unknown person and sent to the hospital.

Because of this, the school even launched a themed safety campaign for a while.

At the time, Jiang Ning and her friends had joked about whether Wang Zekai had inadvertently contributed to school safety.

Thinking back on those jokes with her best friends in her past life, Jiang Ning couldn’t help but curl her lips into a smile.

At this moment, Wang Zekai had no idea what Jiang Ning was thinking. Holding a teacup, he confidently said:

“When the new school term starts, we’ll all be in different classes.”

“So let’s keep each other informed so that we can help each other out if anything comes up.”

Saying this, he cupped his hands in a traditional gesture, then downed his tea in one gulp.

This strange action stunned Jiang Ning for a moment. But out of habit from social gatherings in her past life, she instinctively picked up the glass of water in front of her and took a small sip with a smile.

Of course, what Jiang Ning was drinking was just a soft drink.

After all, she still remembered that she was just a high school freshman.

    Just then—

    Luo Shanshan suddenly leaned over.

“Jiang Ning, you smell so nice! Are you wearing perfume?”

    “Huh? I don’t think so.”

Jiang Ning frowned slightly and instinctively sniffed herself.

In the process, she accidentally knocked over the glass on the table, spilling water onto herself.

    “Ah! Be careful!”

Luo Shanshan grabbed a tissue and started wiping Jiang Ning’s leg, but one wasn’t enough.

As she turned to grab more—

A brand-new pack of tissues was suddenly handed over.

Along with it came a familiar voice.

“I have tissues. Wipe it off.”

“Oh, thanks—” Jiang Ning was about to accept it but suddenly sensed something was off. She turned around and saw Wang Zekai looking at her.

His gaze made her uncomfortable. Without thinking, she refused.

    “Oh, no need. Thanks.”

Jiang Ning rejected him outright, but Wang Zekai didn’t say much.

He simply smiled nonchalantly and then sat down in the empty chair right next to Jiang Ning.

Feeling his presence so close, Jiang Ning became inexplicably uneasy.

    “Isn’t your seat over there?”

    “Why are you sitting here?”

Anyone with half a brain could hear the displeasure in Jiang Ning’s voice.

However, Wang Zekai played dumb and said,

“Chen Can spilled his drink on my chair, so I don’t have a place to sit for now. Mind if I borrow this seat?”

It was a reasonable excuse, but Jiang Ning wasn’t buying it.

She immediately turned to Luo Shanshan beside her.

    “Shanshan, let’s switch seats.”

As soon as she said that—

Wang Zekai’s smile froze slightly, and he looked at Luo Shanshan, as if trying to communicate something.

But Luo Shanshan was a girl. In a situation like this, there was no way she would side with a boy.

Still, since they were classmates, she didn’t want to be too harsh about it.

As she switched seats, she chuckled and whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear:

    “Hehe, sorry about that.”

    Instantly, Wang Zekai’s expression darkened.

But since Luo Shanshan was a girl, he couldn’t say much.

Although Jiang Ning hadn’t heard their conversation, the occasional looks Wang Zekai threw her way gave her an uncomfortable feeling.

Yet, she couldn’t openly express it.

For the next hour or so, Jiang Ning felt as if she were sitting on pins and needles.

When the gathering finally ended, she outright declined the afternoon KTV outing, grabbed her bicycle, and left the restaurant.

    Meanwhile—

Standing at the restaurant entrance, Wang Zekai watched Jiang Ning’s departing figure.

He narrowed his eyes slightly, his expression unreadable.

Jiang Ning, however, had no idea.

She wasn’t planning to go home just yet. Instead, she rode her bike onto the main road, intending to take a ride around Jiangzhou City as it was ten years ago.

After all, over the years, many places had changed completely from how she remembered.

If she really wanted to do something in this life, she couldn’t rely solely on memories of the future.

And so, she left the restaurant and rode eastward.

Riding along, she updated the memories in her mind.

A sports field had become a park. A residential area had turned into a shopping street. Farmland had been replaced by a school.

Jiang Ning rode and stopped intermittently.

Eventually, when she was too tired to continue, she stopped at a shantytown near Jiangzhou University.

She spent 50 cents on a bottle of soda and leaned against her bike seat, gazing at Jiangzhou University in the distance.

    Jiangzhou University—a comprehensive institution.

It wasn’t a top-tier school, but it had a few strong programs, with one or two ranking among the top five in the country.

But that was in the future. Right now, Jiangzhou University was still just Jiangzhou College, in the process of merging and restructuring.

The government had taken the lead in merging several local schools to form what would eventually become Jiangzhou University.

At this moment, the campus was bustling with people. Even during summer break, students were constantly coming and going.

Seeing this, Jiang Ning pondered for a long time. It seemed she had come up with a plan.

After finishing her soda, she returned the bottle to the shopkeeper and was about to head home.

    But just then—

A familiar figure appeared in the distance.

Jiang Ning paused for a moment, then immediately pedaled after them.

    Meanwhile, over there—

Tian Wenhao felt like his luck had run out.

His brand-new bicycle, which he had barely gotten to enjoy for a few days, somehow had a flat tire.

Now, he had no choice but to walk it to a repair shop.

Just as he was pushing the bike, a lively voice suddenly rang out behind him.

    “Cousin, did your bike break?”

Hearing this, Tian Wenhao turned around—

And was met with a delicate, charming face.

Her cheeks were rosy, her long hair draped naturally over her shoulders, and her skin was porcelain-white. She wore a sports outfit, making her look fresh and youthful.

For a moment, Tian Wenhao was stunned by her beauty.

    Then, awkwardly, he asked:

“Uh… C-Classmate, what did you just call me?”
