Chapter 31 Unable to Finish the Meat, Are We Still Upgrading That Place

Because they could not read and could not understand what the people going into the White Mist Inn were saying, this newly opened inn did not count for much in the sisters’ minds.

Since the guests basically only appeared at night and did not affect them going over in the daytime, they cared about it even less.

As for the situation over in the White Mist Plane, even if they went, there was nothing they could really do.

    “The new Plane has nothing.”

“Not only does it have nothing, we even have to bring things over ourselves,” Bai Xi frowned. “Are we still going to upgrade that place?”

“If we have time, we can level it up a bit.” Bai Yu scooped up the scattered branches on the ground and moved them aside, then turned back to speak to Bai Xi. “What happens in the White Mist Plane has nothing to do with us, but those people seem to treasure it. So if we have time, we should raise its level a little. Maybe that way more people who lose their way in the white mist will have a place to rest.”

Bai Xi thought it over carefully, then finally nodded. “True. Anyway, upgrading the houses over there doesn’t take much effort.”

She followed along, picking up branches as well.

At the same time, the two sisters did not forget to keep an eye on Bai Miao.

Ever since they started collecting materials to upgrade, they had not been short of branches from this forest. If there had been room on the island to store them, they would have liked nothing better than to haul every branch from here back home.

But today, branches were not what they were here for.

After moving the branches aside, Bai Yu turned back and hushed Bai Xi, then slowly walked toward the trap.

The wild boar that had fallen into the trap two days ago was now completely silent and motionless, but they were still afraid the boar was merely recuperating and would spring out once its strength returned, so they did not dare act rashly.

When she came near the trap, Bai Yu immediately saw the giant wild boar lying motionless inside.

She turned back, took the long wooden stick from Bai Xi, gripped it tightly, and reached it down into the trap to poke.

The boar did not move at all, so she used more strength and jabbed it hard.

    It still did not budge.

Bai Yu grew bolder, walked around to the other side of the boar, and once she saw its head, she stretched the stick out to poke its eye while she herself stood well back, so that if the boar suddenly sprang up, she could run at once.

Fortunately, the boar really did seem to be dead.

She put strength into her hands, poking its eye much harder.

“Xiao Xi, Miao Miao, the boar is dead, come over.”

The two hurried over from a distance. “The boar is really dead?”

“Dead. I stabbed its eye with that much force and it still did not move, it has to be dead,” Bai Yu said, moving closer to the boar. “But this wild boar is much bigger than we thought. I’ll try grabbing its head and see if we can bring it back with us.”

There was no way they could carry it on their shoulders, so it all depended on whether they could bring it along when they returned.

Just as on the way here, the three of them all held on to Bai Miao’s hand, while Bai Yu’s other hand reached down into the trap to grab the boar’s head.

    “Return.”

    “We brought it back!”

The boar came out of the trap and landed in front of them. It looked even more imposing, which made Bai Xi worry all over again. “With a boar this big, how long will it take us to finish eating it?”

Bai Yu was silent for a moment. “You mean we won’t be able to finish it before it completely rots?”

“We definitely won’t. How much do we even eat in a day?” Bai Xi frowned. “If we could get to the mainland, we might be able to sell it. A boar this big could fetch quite a bit of silver, but right now we’re stuck on this island in the middle of nowhere.”

“What about the Magic Plane?” A thought flashed through Bai Yu’s mind. “That person we met before seemed to really like meat without any magic in it. If we take it over, she might want it.”

Bai Xi’s eyes lit up too. “That makes sense!”

With such a huge wild boar lying here, they had to deal with it whether they wanted to or not. If they could sell it to the Magic Plane, that would be ideal. If they really could not sell it, at worst they could just throw it into the sea to feed the fish.

Once the fish were fattened up, if they lacked food in the future, they could always catch them, slaughter them, and eat them instead.

Thinking of this, Bai Yu immediately went to fetch the axe they used for chopping firewood and began butchering the giant boar.

    “Mom.”

“Yes, there’s still some, there’s still some meat left,” the woman said quickly. As she boiled the meat, she kept looking around, hoping someone might suddenly appear again, with more meat in hand.

But before that happened, what came first was the thunderous sound of a monster’s footsteps in the distance.

She did not dare go on cooking. She hurriedly lifted the pot, put out the fire, and hid inside the cave.

“Ptui, ptui, ptui, why is there so much dust in this cave? When we left two days ago, it wasn’t nearly this dusty.”

Bai Yu was holding wild boar meat wrapped in big tree leaves. She could also feel the dust in the cave and raised a hand to wave it away in front of her.

“I wonder if this cave can be upgraded. If it could turn into a house too, we wouldn’t have to deal with so much dust when we come here in the future,” Bai Xi said, looking at Bai Miao. “Miao Miao, want to use an Upgrade Card on this cave?”

“Upgrade!” Bai Miao exclaimed excitedly, taking out a Blank Upgrade Card.

【Use Blank Upgrade Card to construct Cave House?】

    “Use it.”

    【Please prepare…】

    【Materials sufficient, construction in progress】

White mist shrouded the three of them.

“We don’t have to go out?”

“Looks like we don’t. It is just upgrading like this?”

    【Construction complete】

The white mist dispersed, and an utterly ordinary Cave House appeared in front of them. It did not look much different from an ordinary cave, but the inside was spotless, and it did not look like dust would ever settle there again.

The grass curtain at the cave entrance had been replaced with a stone door.

Bai Xi hurried to the entrance, pushed the stone door open, and, on a whim, closed it again as she stepped out. The moment it shut, she cried out in surprise, “You can’t tell at all from the outside that there’s a room in here.”

Bai Yu and Bai Miao pushed the door open from inside.

“Come on,” Bai Xi went up, pulled the two of them out, then closed the door again. “You really can’t tell, can you? If someone was just passing by, who would ever think there’s a room inside such a big chunk of rock?”

“How do you open it?” Bai Yu said as she stepped forward to feel for the handle. Her hand had just touched the stone when she felt a force, and the stone door slowly swung open.

She opened her palm. The Shell on it flickered faintly.

“Only we can open it?” Bai Xi watched her movements, closed the stone door again, then placed her own hand on it. When it opened, she looked at her palm. “This is so special. It really does seem like only we can open it.”

“Maybe it’s similar to the inn in the White Mist Plane,” Bai Yu guessed. “Not just anyone can go into the inn in the White Mist Plane. We can walk straight in, but other people have to pay for a room first.”

“That is great,” Bai Xi clapped her hands. “Then this place belongs entirely to us. We do not have to worry at all about anyone else coming in!”

Bai Yu closed the door again, looked at the tightly fitted stone slab, and said, “Not only will no one come in, no one will even realize there is a door here.”

Bai Xi nodded repeatedly. “Even if someone comes here looking for a cave, they’ll head for the ones with grass curtains. They will not look this way.”

They were both very pleased with this door and stood there admiring it for quite a while.

The surroundings were completely quiet. As they walked off to look for a buyer for the wild boar meat, the two of them instinctively searched for the direction of the market, wanting to see if there were any Flying Carpets in the sky headed that way.

Unfortunately, after circling around for a while, they did not find the slightest trace of a Flying Carpet.

If, when they had first arrived, they had not seen any Flying Carpets at all, they would never have believed that people in this Plane could travel through the air. But having seen Flying Carpets before, and now not spotting a single one in the sky, they felt uneasy instead.

After all, the absence of Flying Carpets meant the nearby area was anything but peaceful.

So as they walked, they kept looking all around and scanning the sky. The moment they noticed anything unusual, they would leave immediately. No matter how exposed their current position was, they had to get away from here as fast as possible.

No matter how important this Plane was, it could not compare to their lives.

After walking for a while, the three of them arrived at the place where someone had bought meat before. When they saw the overturned fire rack lying at the entrance, Bai Xi and Bai Yu exchanged a look, both feeling a stab of dread.

Even so, they still called out toward the inside.

Fortunately, before long, a response came from within.

“Here, someone’s here,” the person inside hurried out, and when she saw the three of them, her face lit up with excitement. “You, do you still have any meat? The meat from last time is already gone.”

“We came to ask if you wanted more meat,” Bai Yu said, letting her see what she was holding. “We have a piece of meat here, but we do not know if you can eat it.”

She unfolded the leaves in her hands, revealing the wild boar meat inside, then watched the other woman’s reaction expectantly.

This time, the other woman’s reaction was even more agitated and excited than before.

“Meat with absolutely no Magic Elements in it, and the color looks so normal too,” she said again and again. “I want this piece. Wait here, I will go get something to trade with you.”

She quickly turned and ran back into the cave. When she came out again, her arms were full of things.

None of these items were anything the three of them were familiar with or had seen before.

But the wild boar had fallen into their trap by accident in the first place, and there was no way they could finish such a big boar. If they did not trade it to her, they would just end up throwing it into the water to feed the fish, so they might as well trade as much as they could.

Bai Yu did not bother to count what the other person was holding. She simply handed over the wild boar meat, then reached out and took that pile of things.

After they finished the exchange, the other person asked, “Where do you usually stay? We always need to eat these things that don’t have Magic Elements. I want to trade with you. Any amount is fine, as long as there’s food.”

Bai Yu squatted down and talked it over with Bai Miao, making sure she understood what the other person meant.

Then she stood up and said, “If you have salt, we can bring you a big piece of meat. Will tomorrow work?”

“Yes,” the other person nodded at once, her expression practically ecstatic. “I’ll get things ready to trade for the meat. Please make sure you bring the meat over.”

“No problem. As long as you have something to trade, we will definitely bring the meat to you tomorrow,” Bai Yu said, then added, “Anything is fine, as long as you have it.”

Although they did not recognize many of the things from the Magic Plane, they were certain that this world had magic. Using the meat they could not finish to trade for things from this Plane, no matter what they got, they would be making a profit.

And if some of it turned out to be upgrade materials, so much the better.
