Chapter 16: The Scumbag CEO’s Pursuit (Part 7)

It had been ten days since that fateful night, but despite Yu Liuxue’s efforts to find Lu Wanrong, she continued to avoid her. Yu Liuxue parked outside the TV station, leaning against the car door with a forlorn expression, “The protagonist keeps dodging me. How am I supposed to complete my task?”

Inside the office, Lu Wanrong was organizing her news scripts as her close female colleague watched from the window. She enthusiastically approached and teased, “Wanrong, are you and Fu Yu having a fight?”

“Fu Yu is here to pick you up again today.” The colleague rested her chin on her hand, looking at her enviously, “People used to say Fu Yu didn’t like you, but I think they’re just jealous, spreading malicious rumors.”

Lu Wanrong’s eyelashes fluttered slightly. At those words, she looked up, “Do you also think I like Fu Yu?”

The colleague paused in surprise before asking back, “Anyone with eyes could see you like her.”

Lu Wanrong smiled lightly, changing the subject, “I’ve finished organizing the scripts. I’ll go deliver them.”

Passing through the glass corridor between the station buildings, Lu Wanrong slightly turned and saw Yu Liuxue leaning against the car. She was as refined and beautiful as ever, even exuding a sense of nobility. She was checking the time when, as if sensing something, she glanced towards Lu Wanrong.

Lu Wanrong pressed her lips and quickly turned, hurrying away.

Yu Liuxue felt even more disheartened. The heroine is such a scoundrel! She used my body and now avoids me without taking responsibility!

After that night, she lay bedridden for two whole days, not going to work! To avoid raising suspicions, Yu Liuxue concocted an elaborate story for Mu Huan about having a severe cold, coughing and sneezing too much to be seen, even going so far as to wake up early and apply sickly makeup to uphold the deception!

She’d never met someone like Lu Wanrong, who didn’t acknowledge responsibility like a true player!

The system sympathetically noted, “Host, you are indeed this world’s heartbreaker. Lu Wanrong’s not even a tenth of what you are.”

Yu Liuxue: “…” Thanks for the reassurance.

“Is Lu Wanrong mad at me because I didn’t meet her lawyer?” Yu Liuxue wondered. Deep in thought, she looked at where Lu Wanrong had disappeared, decisively left, and pulled out her phone. “Mu Huan, give me the number of the best lawyer from the company.”

Mu Huan instinctively asked, “Miss Mu, are you in trouble?”

“No, Wanrong wants to divorce me.”

Shocked, Mu Huan began to speak but was cut off by Yu Liuxue, “Don’t worry, I’ve got it under control.”

Mu Huan sent the lawyer’s number, adding, “If one isn’t enough, I’ll give you the entire company’s lawyer list to choose from.”

Yu Liuxue: “…” Thanks for that.

After submitting her materials, Lu Wanrong was ready to leave for the day when her phone rang. She ignored a call from Yu Liuxue, only for it to ring again. Unwilling to answer, she was about to turn it off, pretending the battery died, when a colleague encouraged, “Wanrong, you should answer it. It might be something important.”

Forcing a smile, she stepped aside, “Miss Fu.”

Yu Liuxue sighed with relief, “Wanrong, I got busy and couldn’t meet your lawyer. Things have settled down here, and I have a lawyer ready. When can we meet together?”

Lu Wanrong dug her nails into her palm. Before their intimate encounter, Yu Liuxue had resisted divorce, and now, after seeing each other’s bodies, she brings it up again?

Her face flushed recalling that night.

The silence on the phone stretched, prompting Yu Liuxue, “Wanrong?”

Regaining her composure, Lu Wanrong released her now-pained hand, calmly responding, “Tomorrow.”

Ecstatic, Yu Liuxue boasted to the system, “See, women truly understand women. She was upset over the divorce.”

“Okay, I’ll drive to pick you up tomorrow.”

Tasting a hint of bitterness, Lu Wanrong leaned against the wall, “No need, I’ll come myself…”

A screech of brakes and a loud crash seemed to echo from the other end, instinctively drawing Lu Wanrong’s gaze outside. Yu Liuxue was no longer at the station.suddenly anxious, she called her “Miss Fu?”

    No response.

Stunned, Lu Wanrong rushed to the elevator, heels tapping loudly. With it stuck at the ground floor during rush hour, she darted towards the stairs, calling Fu Yu’s name as she descended.

Her elegantly pinned hair became disheveled in a hurried, messy style that mirrored the night of their passion, breath slightly labored from the rush.

“Fu Yu? Is everything okay?” Her eyes stung as numerous memories fought for attention in her mind.

Shaking slightly, Yu Liuxue raised an arm to reveal a nearly invisible scratch; otherwise, she remained unharmed. Hearing Lu Wanrong urgently calling out, she leaned back in her car, hair askew, and replied, “Wanrong, I’m fine, just a minor accident.”

Though minor, she was untouched; only the car suffered significant damage.

Unconvinced, Lu Wanrong asked, “Where are you now? I’ll come find you.”

Finding Yu Liuxue, she was seated facing away at the bed’s edge, her left arm wrapped in bandages. Recognizing the sound of heels, Yu Liuxue turned. Lu Wanrong’s hair was in slight disarray, reminiscent of the haze and allure from that night. Breathless from the rush, she seemed slightly frazzled.

Opening the door, her eyes fell first on Yu Liuxue’s bandaged arm, then asked the doctor, “Will she be alright?”

The doctor coldly stated, “Minor injury, she can leave now.”

They sat parallel in a cab, and Yu Liuxue could feel Lu Wanrong’s occasional glances. Preoccupied with planning how to seduce her, Yu Liuxue’s right hand pressed against her bandaged left arm, asking the system, “Have you heard of the beauty trap?”

    System: “Yes.”

Yu Liuxue continued, “Have you seen it?”

System: “…” Please proceed with your show.

After more than a month, Lu Wanrong returned to the marital home they shared. The familiar floral arrangements triggered complex emotions. By Yu Liuxue’s side, she commented, “You haven’t returned in over a month.”

“Since we’re divorcing, what’s the point?”

Entering the living room, Yu Liuxue struggled to remove her coat, repeating, “True, with divorce looming.”

“It’s late; stay here for the night.” Gesturing to her bandaged hand, she added, “You know I can’t drive right now.”

Refusal sprang to Lu Wanrong’s lips. After impulsively getting involved with Yu Liuxue, she hadn’t figured out how to face her.

She’d spent a lifetime of solitude, never dating or having other relationships, except Fu Yu.

Unsure if Yu Liuxue wanted her comforting like a drama character post-incident, she reasoned her pride meant she likely wanted to forget that night entirely.

Ultimately, her own folly over being swayed by beauty caused this irreparable situation.

“It’s been a while since we talked. Let’s discuss things tonight.”

Divorce was significant and warranted a thorough discussion.

    Lu Wanrong agreed.

Her belongings remained untouched, triggering nostalgia as she looked around.

Yu Liuxue cleansed herself, dressed in light clothes due to warmer weather. Spotting her, looking all composed, Lu Wanrong’s pulse raced.

    Blushing anew.

Yu Liuxue casually tugged at her coat, revealing more, suggesting, “Bedroom.”

Lu Wanrong’s gaze followed, drawn to her swan-like neck and elegant features, lingering on the dew-beaded shoulders, reminiscent of the sheen on her skin during their encounter.

Once again, her mouth was parched.

Curving her lips, Yu Liuxue opened the room, “I remember how we designed this place together—your love for white roses, always displayed prominently.”

Though unchanged, a bundle of red roses now accompanied the white.

The striking red subconsciously reminded her of the crimson on the sheets.

    Her heart quickened.

Lu Wanrong averted her teasing thoughts, wondering why today was so peculiar.

Yu Liuxue perched on the bed, and distracted, Lu Wanrong joined her.

A strained silence enveloped them, with Yu Liuxue gazing expectantly.

    “What are you thinking?”

    “Nothing.”

Being on the bed already, retreating would seem too deliberate. Lu Wanrong sat stiffly across, Yu Liuxue shifting, loosening her attire, causing Lu Wanrong’s mind to momentarily blank, seeing nothing but her.

Leaning subtly closer, Yu Liuxue asked, “Wanrong, did you wash your hands?”

    “Yes…”

    “Shall we?”
