Chapter 2: The Overbearing CEO’s White Lotus (Part 2)

Lin Qingyin was on top, while Yu Liuxue lay below, her eyes charming and full of allure. Yu Liuxue’s breath hitched slightly, her moist red lips parting as she tentatively called out, “Qingyin?”

Her mind froze for a moment as she quickly asked the system, “Beloved, what’s happening? Is something wrong with you?”

The system ignored Yu Liuxue’s teasing and cursing and carefully checked the main world. The core system showed that the current plot was developing without issues. The system’s voice, calm and accustomed to major events, replied, “The world line is normal.”

Yu Liuxue thought, “Normal, my foot!”

Why would female lead Lin Qingyin suddenly kiss her? What happened to the eternal enmity and rivalry fueling their encounter?

Yu Liuxue could still feel the softness and warmth of Lin Qingyin’s lips lingering on hers. She pressed her lips together, moisture filling her eyes like a wronged young wife who had been taken advantage of. Her nose reddened, and her long eyelashes fluttered upward, deer-like eyes shiny with unshed tears, filled with confusion and disbelief.

“Qingyin, what was that for?” she asked, seemingly overwhelmed, as if on the verge of tears.

Lin Qingyin’s expression stiffened, caught between feelings of guilt and uncertainty. She began to reconsider whether she had misjudged the situation and if Qing Wu truly had no such intentions toward her. With a straight face and no sign of embarrassment, Lin Qingyin said, “Since you’re not feeling well, you shouldn’t film tonight. I’ll let the director know.”

Yu Liuxue couldn’t help but admire Lin Qingyin’s thick skin.

Yu Liuxue sniffed, her eyes glistening with unshed tears, and quickly grabbed Lin Qingyin’s fingers, shaking her head. “No need, Qingyin, I can manage.”

Recently, online criticism of Qing Wu wasn’t favorable, so Yu Liuxue had to brace herself and work diligently to recover her reputation.

Lin Qingyin’s gaze dropped to her fingers gently hooked around her own, and she subtly withdrew her hand. “Your health comes first. The director will understand if there’s a valid reason.”

Just as Yu Liuxue opened her mouth to respond, Lin Qingyin’s assistant rushed in, excitedly saying, “Sister Qingyin, Young Master Yao is here…”

Lin Qingyin hadn’t closed the door, leaving the room in full view. The assistant was stunned by the sight of Qing Wu on the bed, biting her lip, looking as if she might burst into tears. Why was she holding Qingyin’s fingers like that, looking so wronged?

The assistant looked to Lin Qingyin, whose expression was calm as she withdrew her hand. “You go on ahead; I’ll be there shortly.”

“Sister Qingyin…” the assistant’s mind raced. Oh no! Could it be what she’s thinking?!

“Qing Wu isn’t feeling well. I’ll keep her company for a bit.” Lin Qingyin’s eyes held a subtle warning, and the assistant smartly nodded and left, closing the door to protect the artists’ privacy and reputation.

Yu Liuxue wiped away her crocodile tears, sitting up and shedding her previous fragile demeanor, her eyes sparkling.

“Brother Yishu is coming?” Yu Liuxue’s eyes shone with unshed tears, and a touch of pink graced the corners. Despite her alluring appearance, Lin Qingyin’s mood was completely ruined by the words “Brother Yishu.”

    She responded coolly, “Yes.”

Immediately, Yu Liuxue got up and put on her slippers, lifting the costume she hadn’t changed out of yet. “Great!”

Finally, she could challenge Yao Yishu!

Lin Qingyin glanced over to see Qing Wu’s excited face, a stark contrast to her earlier weak demeanor, feeling a twinge of blockage in her heart.

Excitedly, Yu Liuxue quickly tidied her hair, flung open the door, and darted downstairs like a lively butterfly, her golden-pink skirt fluttering behind her as she disappeared around the corner.

Lin Qingyin slowly put on a coat, wrapping her body tight except for her neck and face, and descended the stairs to see two people at an impasse.

Yao Yishu sat on the sofa with a large bouquet of fiery red roses beside him. Handsome and refined, upon seeing Lin Qingyin, he quickly stood up, straightened his slightly wrinkled suit, and walked toward her with his gentlemanly bouquet. “Qingyin, filming must be tiring…”

Without a glance, Lin Qingyin bypassed him and approached Yu Liuxue, whose eyes were red, shimmering with silent tears. Yu Liuxue gazed tearfully at Yao Yishu’s back, her voice small and aggrieved, “Brother Yishu.”

Yao Yishu found Qing Wu’s entanglement tiresome, yet with Lin Qingyin present, he couldn’t lose his temper, merely clenching his fists.

    Yao Yishu turned back, “Qingyin…”

But Lin Qingyin cut him off, “You should go.”

Yao Yishu’s voice rose incredulously, “Qingyin?”

Lin Qingyin’s gaze shifted back to Qing Wu’s pitiful face. Seeing her fighting to maintain a strong front despite crying breathlessly and presenting herself in a polished light, an unexplainable anger surged within Lin.

Was Yao Yishu really worth it, despite repeatedly hurting her, despite the world knowing he abandoned her, despite the industry gossip? Did she still pin her hopes on him?

Lin Qingyin’s expression cooled, making her seem detached and aloof.

“Qing Wu isn’t feeling well and needs rest.” Lin Qingyin gripped Yu Liuxue’s wrist, pulling her close. Facing Yao Yishu, her tone was bland, “I still have filming tonight. Please leave, Young Master Yao.”

Lin Qingyin embraced the soft figure beside her, her voice cool like a gentle stream entering Yu Liuxue’s ears.

Yu Liuxue leaned against Lin Qingyin, her small hands hesitated briefly before boldly wrapping around Lin’s slender waist, resting her cheek on Lin’s shoulder. Her lashes brushed Lin’s collarbone, and Yu Liuxue cast a hurt glance at the startled Yao Yishu, then quickly turned back, hugging Lin more tightly.

What’s good about men? Girls are soft and lovely.

Entranced by Lin Qingyin’s goddess-like presence and Qing Wu’s hurt demeanor, the two women most prominent in his life disappeared, leaving Yao Yishu holding roses and a mix of emotions stirring inside.

    Something felt off.

Once upstairs, Lin Qingyin pushed Yu Liuxue away, nearly causing her to stumble. But Lin caught her, pulling her back into her embrace, her voice steady, “If you’re unwell, stay in bed.”

Yu Liuxue hastily nodded, settling down with Lin Qingyin’s help. Lin scrutinized her for a moment before averting her gaze when Yu Liuxue’s facade began to crack.

“Actually, Brother Yishu isn’t that bad…” Yu Liuxue stopped short under Lin Qingyin’s icy stare.

Dropping the topic, Yu Liuxue changed the subject, “Qingyin, wait a moment while I change.”

There was filming later; she had feigned illness to grow closer to Lin Qingyin, but if medical staff checked and found her healthy, Lin might take drastic measures.

Rummaging through her suitcase, Yu Liuxue found a boyfriend-style white shirt and shorts, changed quickly, and joined Lin Qingyin, spiritedly calling out, “Qingyin.”

Standing before her, this woman was radiant with flushed skin and glossy black hair. The slightly transparent fabric of the white shirt discreetly concealed her perfectly, except for her strikingly white and slender legs.

The shirt’s loose cut subtly highlighted her graceful figure, her trim waist noteworthy even beneath the shirt, silently enticing the observer. Though her outfit conveyed simplicity, it amplified her allure, like a beguiling enchantress.

Yu Liuxue seemingly unaware of Lin’s scrutiny, naturally took Lin’s hand, “I’m ready.”

Lin lowered her lashes, responding softly, “Let’s go.”

Other guests were waiting in the studio and paused, surprised at the pair’s close bond. Yu Liuxue glared at them, causing ripples of shock among the observers.

    Qing Wu seemed different.

While reviewing the script before filming, Yu Liuxue idly browsed entertainment news on her phone. The gossip of this world was enticing, but she did not expect one about herself.

“Congratulations to Qing Wu for another triple rejection! Was Qing Wu rejected by Young Master Yao again today? Yes, she was.”

Pouting, Yu Liuxue asked the system, “Beloved, I feel like this person is mocking me.”

The system replied, “Be confident, Host. She’s definitely mocking you.”

Disheartened, Yu Liuxue put down her phone and swiped distractedly, mumbling, “That’s outrageous. How can they say such things about someone trying so hard to be a pure little white lotus?”

Lin Qingyin came over with a small bag of medicine, her gaze briefly noting Yu Liuxue’s pursed lips before casually withdrawing, “What’s wrong?”

Without looking at the screen, Yu Liuxue handed Lin her phone, pretending to complain, “Your fans are bashing me again.”

Lin glanced at the screen and read:

“I think Qing Wu clings to Young Master Yao because of Lin Qingyin.”

“Qing Wu and Lin Qingyin debuted around the same time. Three years have passed, and Lin Qingyin is now a sought-after actress with countless acclaimed roles on the big screen. While Qing Wu envies her, she works hard to catch up, yet can’t reach even a fraction of her idol’s success. In her sorrow, she hears that her ex-fiancé is fervently pursuing her idol, and panics—Is the scumbag going to steal her beloved?”

“Jealousy and fear twist her emotions, making Qing Wu constantly oppose Lin Qingyin, hoping to catch her eye.”

“Now that you’ve explained it, it all makes sense! Qing Wu and Lin Qingyin are definitely meant to be together! They should get married immediately!”

Lin Qingyin returned the phone, her expression inscrutable.

Yu Liuxue took back her phone, puzzled. “Huh?”

    Where’s the hate post?

—”Crocodile tears” refer to fake or insincere expressions of sadness, often used to manipulate others. The term comes from the myth that crocodiles shed tears while eating their prey.

—”White lotus” is a term for someone who looks pure and kind but may be manipulative. “Little white lotus” refers to a younger or more naive version of this archetype.
