Dimensional Landlord C38
by MarineTLChapter 38: Not Recognizing Anyone, Obtaining Ten-Day Transit Pass for Plane 0518
“Is there really?” Bai Yu looked at her two younger sisters.
Bai Xi sensed carefully for a moment. “I think there is.”
Bai Miao echoed, “I think so too.”
“I feel it a little bit as well,” Bai Yu said. “It might be because there isn’t much, just a tiny bit, so our sensation isn’t very obvious.”
“Does that mean we have talent?” Bai Xi asked.
“Maybe?” Bai Yu was uncertain. “But it doesn’t matter. If absorbing this magic can make our strength increase further, that would be great. Right now, we can lift many things on the island and in the Forest Plane without any effort at all.”
Bai Xi nodded. “True.”
Whether it was the Magic Plane or the White Mist Plane, these were unfamiliar realms they had never encountered before. Cultivation was equally foreign to them, so they had to grope their way forward on their own.
Whether they could practice, how to practice, how many Magic Elements in the body counted as success, and how to judge if the Dantian’s absorption was successful – they weren’t sure about any of it.
But regardless, since they started cultivating, their physical condition had indeed improved compared to before, and that was enough.
So, whenever they had free time, they would spend more time in the White Mist Plane and the Magic Plane to absorb the Spiritual Qi and Magic Elements of both places.
Meanwhile, after several upgrades, the Small Pier had gained sufficient strength.
It rained once more. After the water level rose on the beach, Bai Yu boarded the boat and steered it away from the sand, heading toward the pier.
With this, the boat officially docked at the pier. In the future, when they wanted to go out to sea for fishing, they would no longer need to wait for the tide to rise.
Furthermore, it would be safer on the sea when the tide wasn’t rising.
“In that case, will we be sleeping on shore from now on?” Bai Xi jumped onto the land, grabbing the rope to pull the boat closer to the shore so Bai Yu could jump over smoothly while holding Bai Miao.
At this moment, there was still some distance between the boat and the shore. Previously, they certainly wouldn’t have dared to jump, but since cultivating Spiritual Qi and magic, their physical fitness had improved significantly. Such a small distance was no problem for them at all.
Even Bai Miao could jump it.
However, Bai Yu and Bai Xi simply didn’t feel at ease letting her.
In a moment, Bai Yu jumped easily onto the shore while holding Bai Miao. After setting her down, she jumped back onto the boat to get the bedding from the cabin, speaking to Bai Xi as she did so. “The house on shore has been ready to sleep in for a while. But since the boat was on the sand before, it was stable enough for us to sleep. Now that the boat is here, sleeping on shore will be steadier. You two probably aren’t used to sleeping while rocking anymore.”
Bai Xi took the bedding from her hands and nodded. “True.”
To move into the new residence, everything in the cabin had to be moved over one by one. It took the two of them some time to finish moving everything.
Their house on the island was a small two-story building. Since they already had a kitchen elsewhere, there was no kitchen here. The first floor was the living room, and the second floor held the bedrooms.
However, there wasn’t much furniture on either floor.
Now that the bedding was moved over, it was spread out on the floor of the second story.
“Should we build a bed?” Bai Xi asked. “I’ve heard that people on the mainland all sleep on beds.”
“But we don’t know what a bed is supposed to look like,” Bai Yu frowned. “Is it just four legs supporting it with a board on top?”
Bai Xi thought about the image Bai Yu described. “If we lie on a bed like that, won’t we roll off?”
Bai Yu looked at her.
Bai Xi laughed. “Let’s ask Nancy when we go to the Magic Plane later to see if she knows. Although we’ve learned many words over these past few months, there are still many things we don’t understand.”
“It would be nice if there was someone who could explain things to us,” Bai Yu said.
Bai Xi tilted her head. “But people on the mainland probably wouldn’t understand our situation very well either.”
Bai Yu smiled. “True. Then let’s just keep figuring things out bit by bit.”
The two of them finished arranging the room upstairs. When they came down, they saw Bai Miao squatting by the edge of the pool at the entrance, tentatively stretching out a foot.
“Miao Miao.”
Bai Miao quickly pulled her foot back, pretending nothing had happened, and squatted obediently by the edge of the pool.
Bai Yu stepped forward and looked down at her quietly.
Bai Miao cupped her face in her hands.
Bai Xi couldn’t help but laugh. Walking closer and looking at the pool before them, she suddenly said, “Actually, we can go in the water here, right? The water isn’t deep, and the weather isn’t cold right now. If Miao Miao goes in, we can watch her.”
Bai Miao looked up quickly, staring at Bai Yu with wide, pleading eyes.
It had rained just yesterday, and the once-empty pool was now filled with rainwater. The water looked clean enough; there was no harm in staying in it for a bit.
Bai Yu squatted down to speak with Bai Miao. “Does Miao Miao want to go in?”
Bai Miao nodded repeatedly. “I do.”
“Alright, then we can bathe here in the future,” Bai Yu turned to speak to Bai Xi. “Xiao Xi, go get the clothes we use for the water. The clothes we’re wearing are too new; it’s not good to go directly into the water in them.”
Bai Xi immediately went back into the house to get the clothes.
A short while later, all three of them, having changed their clothes, were in the water.
The pool wasn’t too deep for Bai Yu and Bai Xi, but it was a bit deep for Bai Miao. So Bai Yu kept supporting her, teaching her how to swim in the water along the way.
They were all raised in the water; sooner or later, they would all have to go in. Bai Miao had learned before, but because she was too young, she hadn’t been in the water many times. Now that there was an opportunity, they naturally had to teach her the ways of survival in the water.
However, Bai Miao learned very quickly and was soon able to splash around in the pool by herself.
Bai Xi even swam a few laps back and forth in the pool.
“Even though it’s a bit small, it’s enough to satisfy the craving,” Bai Xi said happily. “In the future, when we want to go in the water, we can play here. We don’t have to go to the sea or worry about it being too dangerous.”
“Mhm, I can feel more at ease with you playing here.”
Bai Xi laughed and dove into the water, reaching out from beneath to tickle Bai Miao’s belly.
It provoked a burst of loud laughter from the little girl.
Bai Yu leaned against the edge watching the two of them play, the smile on her face deepening.
When the water from their play splashed onto her, she also scooped up a handful of water from the pool and splashed it back at them.
“Miao Miao, let’s team up and splash Eldest Sister!”
“Okay!”
…
“Alright, that’s enough,” Bai Yu laughed loudly after a while, wiping the water from her face. “If we play any longer, our skin will get all wrinkled from the soaking. Let’s go up and change. Just take those clothes off directly.”
Bai Xi and Bai Miao had both played to their heart’s content and quickly nodded.
They took off their wet clothes, dried themselves, and changed into clean, brand-new clothes.
Bai Xi spoke up, “Eldest Sister, I’ll make two more sets of clothes. We still have several pieces of fabric.”
“Alright, I’ll help you with the cutting later,” Bai Yu said, using a dry cloth to wipe Bai Miao’s hair. “We’ll do it together; it’ll be faster.”
“Every time we draw something, it’s fabric,” Bai Xi said as she dried her own hair after changing. “If only the Check-in would give us ready-made clothes, it would save a lot of time.”
“Having fabric is already very good,” Bai Yu smiled, thinking about the Check-in. “From the looks of it now, the things we get from each Check-in are almost fixed.”
Bai Xi nodded. “Yes. Fabric, food, oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, and various tools. Other than those, it’s just Upgrade Cards and Transit Passes. But we haven’t drawn a Transit Pass in a long time. Since we got the White Mist Plane Transit Pass a few months ago, there hasn’t been a new one.”
“I wonder if we can still draw one?” Bai Yu said with some hesitation. “But even if we can’t, these few planes we have now are enough for us to live on.”
“That’s true. It’s also possible there aren’t any other planes. After all, we’ve already drawn such miraculous places as the Magic Plane and the White Mist Plane. If there really were other planes, I can’t even imagine what they would be like.”
“I can’t think of anything either.”
As she spoke, Bai Yu patted Bai Miao’s hair. “It’s almost dry. It’ll dry completely while you play. Go on, go have fun.”
Bai Miao pumped her fists happily and ran off to play.
After she left, Bai Yu dried her own hair, then took Bai Xi with her to prepare dinner.
Since they had just moved into their new home, they planned to have a special meal tonight.
Over the past few months, they had been checking in every day and had obtained plenty of food, oil, salt, soy sauce, and vinegar. Although no one had taught her, Bai Xi had figured out her own way of cooking. The dishes she made now were much tastier than before; she could control the heat perfectly while stir-frying, and nothing ever got burnt anymore.
Tonight, in addition to their regular food, they prepared a dish of stir-fried chicken. The meat came from a wild chicken they had just brought back from the Forest Plane.
This meal left all three of them stuffed.
Bai Xi had a sudden thought. “Eldest Sister, let’s modify the traps to catch some live wild chickens. I’ve been craving eggs lately.”
“We can’t change the big traps. If we modify them and a wild boar comes along, the trap won’t hold it and might even be destroyed. We can use vines to make a cage and set up a small trap instead,” Bai Yu said. “We have some ready-made cages here. I’ll go to the Forest Plane to set them up in a bit. If we’re lucky, we might catch some live wild chickens in a couple of days.”
“As long as we catch them alive, we can have eggs every day. I’ll make scrambled eggs for you then. It’s bound to be delicious,” Bai Xi said, swallowing hard at the thought. “We can also make steamed egg custard. I had it once when I was little. It was so fragrant and tender.”
As she finished speaking, an even louder sound of someone swallowing echoed.
This time, it was Bai Miao.
Bai Yu smiled and reached out to pat her head. “Want to come with Eldest Sister to set the traps in a bit?”
Bai Miao nodded repeatedly.
With that, the three of them didn’t delay. It was the perfect time to walk off their heavy meal, so they took a few laps around the Forest Plane while setting the traps.
Their strength had increased lately, so they didn’t have to be as cautious as before. Occasionally, when they had free time, they would wander around the perimeter. If they were lucky enough to encounter a lone wild chicken or something similar, they could add it to their menu.
“There are so many fruits here that we don’t recognize. If only we knew what they were, we could come here to pick and eat them.”
They knew a lot about aquatic life, but their knowledge of wild fruits and vegetables was limited. Consequently, their desires to forage for greens and fruit had never been realized.
After their walk was finished, they returned to the island and officially settled into their new house.
When they woke up the next morning, Bai Miao didn’t need any reminding. She eagerly pressed the Shell.
