Dad’s Leisurely Life C39
by MarineTLChapter 39: Thank You!
From March 17 to today, it’s been exactly 14 days—two weeks.
The first round of trial publishing isn’t even over yet, and I’ve already updated 94,000 characters. If we go by the common pace of 4,000 characters a day, it should’ve only been around 60,000 by now.
But clearly, I’m a bit of a workaholic. In a field I’m familiar with, I just want to update faster, so I’ve averaged 6,700 characters a day during the new release period.
That’s even more than what many authors manage after their books go on sale.
That said, I’ve been updating so diligently mainly because of the overwhelming support from you all—really!
So many familiar friends and many new ones—I’m truly grateful!
I even remember telling Liu Yong a few days ago that there was no way this book would make the top 10, so I gave up trying to rank. But to my surprise, it quietly made its way up just days later…
These results are amazing, especially considering I just axed my last book. How could I deserve this?
My previous book veered off track and weighed heavily on me emotionally, so I had to end it early. I’ll rewrite that story later.
Also, I want to give everyone a heads-up.
This book’s strong performance is built on the foundation of “A Warm Stove for Wife and Kids” and “A Happy Life of a Stay-at-home Dad”—those two complete stories already total 9.8 million characters. With this new one, the total hits 10.01 million!
I genuinely want to write a successful book, and you’ve given me this chance. After thinking it over and talking with other author friends—some of whom are even willing to give me weekend chapter pushes—
So, I plan to make a charge for the site-wide Top 10 of the New Releases list at 12:00 a.m. on Monday!
I’m not expecting some crazy result—however long I stay there is good enough. Even half a day would count. When the time comes, I’ll tip myself with a Silver reward and see if I can vie for the “Sanjiang” recommendation spot I’ve long dreamed of.
No matter what, whether it soars or flops, I’ll continue writing diligently.
I want to write a fuller story about Mengmeng, about Cao Shujie and his wife Cheng Xiaolin.
Like I mentioned in the chat group, the inspiration for Mengmeng comes from my younger daughter. Similarly, Tongtong in the previous book was also based on her.
But Tongtong was more like what I imagined a second daughter might be like in the future, while Mengmeng is closer to the “Yuanbao” character from “A Warm Stove for Wife and Kids.” After spending so much time together, I started incorporating some of my eldest’s traits into Yuanbao.
Likewise, I’ve written some of my younger daughter’s daily habits into Mengmeng, which is why I’ve been carefully shaping this character bit by bit.
But in real life, our second kid turned out quite wild—often hitting her older sister and mom, though she’s super sweet to me ^_^
Next week’s second promotion round shouldn’t be a problem. The third one should go smoothly too. If everything goes well, I plan to go on sale in the latter part of the month. When that happens, I won’t stress over first-day subscriptions—I’ll go for daily 10K word counts from day one.
Of course, if the first-day subs are amazing, I might get hyped and write even more!
Even before the book goes on sale, I’ll keep updates at around 7,000 characters a day. That way, before the first month is up, we’ll hit 200,000 characters and drop off the New Releases list.
As for the irregular update times, that’s because I didn’t prepare much for this book. While writing my last book “My Wife Was Reborn?” I was also taking care of and playing with my younger daughter. During that time, this idea kept brewing in my mind—to write a novel based on her. And that’s how this book came to be.
Right now, the only thing I really need is support from those of you who read official releases. Tips I don’t ask for—I’ll handle that myself!
Also, with the global economy struggling, the financial industry faltering is just the beginning. Many sectors worldwide are having issues. Even our company is laying people off. So if you can subscribe and support me, I’d be forever grateful. And if you’ve got extra cash, save it for yourself first—better safe than sorry!
That’s all for now!
At midnight Monday, I’ll start tipping myself and going for the ranks—after that, I’ll be counting on everyone for continued reading support!
If you feel like there’s not much content yet and want to wait, that’s fine too—just do me a favor: open the last chapter, let it sit for 30 seconds, then scroll to the bottom.
This time, I’m charging ahead—CHARGE! CHARGE! CHARGE!
Friends, I’m counting on your help with the reading stats!
