    Chapter 110: Moving House

    Songtao Village, Bai Family Residence.

The eldest Madam Bai was picking vegetables while grumbling under her breath. If anyone walked close enough, they’d hear clearly—she was cursing Bai Tian’s family.

    “Mother! Mother!”

The voice of her second daughter-in-law rang out from outside, urgent and flustered, loud enough to grate on anyone’s nerves.

Old Madam Bai snapped, “What are you yelling about now? What happened?”

“Bai Tian—Bai Tian’s family, they’re moving to the county!”

    “What?!”

Old Madam Bai dropped the vegetables in her hands. “They’re moving to the county?!”

“Come on, come on, let’s talk inside!”

She grabbed her second daughter-in-law and rushed into the inner room, where the two began whispering back and forth.

In the corner of the courtyard, the fourth daughter-in-law, Man’er, was washing clothes. She looked up briefly, then lowered her head and continued scrubbing.

Her mother-in-law and second sister-in-law really couldn’t sit still.

They’d already gone twice and got nothing both times, yet they still weren’t giving up.

Man’er kept washing, not intending to tell her younger brother-in-law’s family anything.

If they could make her mother-in-law and second sister-in-law that angry, then that family wasn’t easy to deal with either.

Before long, Man’er saw her second sister-in-law come out of the room. The panic and anxiety on her chubby face had vanished, replaced by delight.

“Sister-in-law, keep washing those clothes nicely! When our Yaoguang comes back, we’ll move to the county too.”

Second Sister-in-law Bai was all smiles, proud of her son who had joined the Mu Family Army.

Man’er gave a polite laugh or two.

But in her heart, she knew exactly what that so-called “taking her to the county” meant—it was just bringing her along to keep being their servant.

A free maid, after all, was both convenient and cost-effective.

The past two days of moving had nearly exhausted Jiang Dai and Bai Tian.

Thankfully, they had help—Liang Tian’er on the county side, and Granny Wang in the village.

Everything was finally in order. Even the village elder’s ox cart had arrived.

All that was left was to load their belongings onto the ox cart and ride it to the county.

Jiang Dai was chatting with Granny Wang.

Meanwhile, Bai Tian, Grandpa Wang, and a few nearby neighbors were hauling things onto the cart.

Grandpa Wang glanced at Bai Tian, who had paused to rest, and couldn’t help but say, “Bai Tian, this won’t do! You’re still not used to real work!”

Bai Tian nodded, holding his back as he caught his breath. “You’re absolutely right, Grandpa!”

    He was completely sincere.

【I can’t help but laugh. This body I transmigrated into is really in bad shape. Over the past two years, it barely had enough to eat, and whatever money it did have was gambled away. It’s all skin and bones, with no strength from physical labor.】

【Even my body back in the modern world was better. Sure, I stayed up late a lot, but at least I worked out and ate well. I had proper nutrition!】

Juanjuan sat off to the side, munching on malt candy with one hand while absentmindedly patting Da Chui’s back with the other.

    “Juanjuan!”

“Juanjuan! Are you even listening to me?!”

Wang Dachui stared at her, convinced she hadn’t heard a word he said.

    “Huh?”

Juanjuan looked at him and replied, “I did hear you, but…”

    Da Chui frowned. “But what?”

“You said it, and it went in here—” Juanjuan pointed to her left ear, then moved her little hand to the right side, “—and came out here.”

    Da Chui: …

“You weren’t listening to me at all!”

Da Chui pouted and started acting up again.

Juanjuan pulled out some malt candy from her pocket and handed it to him, trying to coax him back into a good mood.
